Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation

Chapter 110: Barrier

"Very well. Let the young one try. If he fails, we follow the plan."

Murmurs spread once again. Some agreed, others grumbled, thinking it a waste of time, but no one dared oppose the decision. The elder was someone whose strength was already acknowledged there.

Kyrian knew. The man did not fully believe in him. He only wanted to keep everyone united under the same banner.

Deep down, he was certain that if Kyrian failed, at that very moment Kyrian would become the target of criticism and many words from all sides. That would make everyone even more united in attempting a collective attack.

Kyrian then turned, approaching the barrier.

His steps were firm, his breathing calm, even with hundreds of eyes fixed on him. The silence grew as he extended his hand.

Everyone expected the same result they had seen so many times before. The useless touch against the translucent wall.

Some even prepared to laugh when the young man was repelled by the same force that had pushed back the elders they considered experienced.

But when Kyrian's palm touched the barrier, there was no resistance.

His hand passed through as if plunging into the calm surface of a lake.

A collective murmur erupted instantly.

"What!?"

"HOW?"

"He… he managed to enter."

Many shouted at the same instant.

The old man at the peak of the Qi Liberation realm widened his eyes for a moment but soon narrowed them, surprise turning into suspicion.

Those closest to him instinctively stepped back.

Kyrian also remained silent. He did not quite understand what had happened. But he did not stop to reflect too much.

Without hesitation, he pushed his whole body forward and crossed the barrier as if it did not exist.

Inside, the air felt different. Heavier, laden with pure flows of Qi, yet they did not feel right. He drew a deep breath.

Behind him, the shouts echoed not long after.

"Open the barrier! I believe in you now." someone roared.

"Young bastard! Don't you dare approach the treasure alone!"

And then, threats soon followed.

"If you don't open it, you will die the very moment you step out!"

The loudest voice, dripping with hatred, came from the old man who had allowed him to go first, his voice completely different from before.

"Insolent boy! Do not trifle with the patience of your elders who have waited here for days! Open it now, or you will be torn to pieces!"

Kyrian, hearing this, only smiled faintly.

The indifference in his gaze was clear. He did not answer any of the voices.

Instead, he walked toward the herb.

It lay alone, at the center of the ravine, illuminating the dark ground with a faint silvery aura.

The scent was fresh and lightly sweet, carrying an energy that seemed to pass through the lungs and soothe the mind.

Kyrian stopped before it, gazing at the herb for a few moments.

Yes, it was indeed a rare spiritual herb. Capable of changing foundations and altering destinies. For most there, an absolutely priceless treasure.

But for him…

The Ash Fruit he had received before had revealed the truth. His body rejected worldly treasures as if they were beyond his reach. For some reason, it could not strengthen him.

He exhaled slowly.

It would have no effect on him.

However, an image surfaced in his mind. That of Yanyu.

Her smile and her firm determination, alongside the weariness of the past days.

He narrowed his eyes. Perhaps the herb was not meant for him. But it could become useful to her.

The voices outside grew louder.

"He got closer!"

"He's going to take the herb!"

"Damned brat! Stop!"

"Open the barrier!"

Kyrian ignored them all. His hand rose slowly, and then, with a simple motion, the herb vanished, stored within his spatial ring.

Chaos erupted outside.

Shouts of rage, threats, and some even preparing to attack the barrier.

What Kyrian truly could not understand was this, it was as if the herb had been theirs from the very beginning. They did not even have the ability to obtain it, so why were they so enraged?

Kyrian did not understand why. He only thought them a band of fools. And he was not in the slightest concerned with their threats.

Kyrian tilted his head slightly, seeing them like a furious swarm trapped behind invisible glass.

A nearly imperceptible smile appeared on his lips.

'It seems conflict will be inevitable.'

But time was not on his side.

The attacks on the barrier had already resumed. The barrier trembled under the impact of their techniques, and the cracks in the core spread wider.

He could clearly feel that if it continued, the accumulated energy would explode, dragging everything into collapse.

Kyrian narrowed his eyes, turning toward the core.

If he did nothing, he would die in the explosion along with everyone else.

He walked to the center of the barrier, where the cracked core was.

As he approached, he raised his hand. The fragment in his palm glowed faintly, pulsing. A slight connection between him and the core emerged. It was tenuous, but real.

Kyrian drew a deep breath.

His gaze adjusted, absorbing every detail of the structure. As if the natural formation was a diagram in his mind. The cracks, the erratic flows, and the rising instabilities stood before his vision.

The attacks from outside shook the barrier violently. Cracks echoed through the ravine, the energy twisting. Many believed the barrier would shatter and the young man would be crushed at any moment.

But instead, Kyrian maintained his focus.

Each strike that should have widened the cracks was absorbed and neutralized by his quick corrections.

A minute passed.

And then what they thought impossible happened.

The core shone brightly, and the barrier began to vanish.

From top to bottom, from the edges to the center, the translucent wall dissolved into particles that scattered into the air, like dust in the wind.

The erratic Qi calmed, returning to its natural cycle.

The oppressive weight of the natural formation that had bound the ravine was gone.

With it, the attacks also ceased momentarily.

Absolute silence.

Hundreds of cultivators stared at the scene in disbelief. The barrier had resisted their efforts for hours, and now it had vanished in a short time by the hands of the young man.

Kyrian lowered his hand, feeling the fragment in his palm pulse stronger. He glanced discreetly and noticed that the mark had grown by a fraction. Almost imperceptible, but it had grown.

He drew a deep breath.

When he raised his eyes again, he was in the sights of hundreds of people.

The gazes falling upon him were not of admiration.

But of greed.

Predators stared at prey that carried the treasure all of them desired.
