Mysterious Assistant of the Washed-Up Queen

Chapter 274: Wei's Resentment, Has Wei Gone Mad?_2

"She's not here; she's on a business trip. What's up? Did you two have a disagreement? Why don't you just ask her yourself?"

"Ah? No, no, no disagreement. We're just working, working! I had something I needed to ask her."

Who the hell would believe your 'work'? Chu Tian almost blurted out.

"Oh, I see. She's gone on a trip, and I don't know where, but she's indeed very busy. Why don't you give her a call?"

Wei Liangxiao sat at home, looking disappointed, his mind filled with doubts.

He did want to call, but wasn't he blocked? Otherwise, why would he have sought out President Chu?

Truth be told, this was actually his fault.

Their relationship was, well, quite peculiar.

Once, Wei Liangxiao had run into Li Chunhua by chance, and for some reason, he took a liking to her.

But they didn't even know each other, so what chance did he have? Thus, he contacted her whenever he found an opportunity.

Gradually, they got to know each other. At first, Li Chunhua didn't notice anything amiss. But with Wei Liangxiao being so obvious, even the most oblivious person would sense something; how could she not feel it?

Initially, Li Chunhua wasn't interested. However, she couldn't ignore Chu Tian and Xu Qingqiu frequently showing off their affection right in front of her. After being fed so much "dog food," it's easy for one's romantic feelings to stir.

Wei Liangxiao doesn't seem like a bad person, Li Chunhua mused. Maybe I should give it a try?

Agreeing outright was certainly not an option; that didn't align with her way of thinking.

But she could try getting to know him first. What if she changed her mind?

After all, no matter how much of a strong career woman one is, everyone has moments of loneliness.

And so, the two of them got in touch.

The crucial issue was, how should one put it, Wei Liangxiao had completely misjudged Li Chunhua's temperament. He assumed she was like any other woman and naturally adopted the most common approach.

He would send her "good morning," "good afternoon," and "good night" messages, constantly showing concern and warmth in a subtle way.

But Li Chunhua was a workaholic; she had no spare time for such lovey-dovey exchanges.

Initially, she found it awkward but forced herself to endure it. Later, when work got incredibly busy and she was constantly on the go, she would check her phone only to find dozens of messages.

Feeling utterly overwhelmed, Li Chunhua couldn't stand it any longer. She simply blocked him, deciding to get some peace and quiet first.

Romance? I'm so busy I could die! Where the hell would I find time for romance?

And just like that, Wei Liangxiao was dumbfounded.

Wait, how did I suddenly get blocked? Everything was fine, wasn't it?

Lying in bed at home, he reviewed the messages he had sent over and over but couldn't figure out which sentence had been wrong.

Luckily, Chu Tian didn't know about any of this. If he had, he would have absolutely died laughing.

It was simply too much—an oddball meeting an oddball. How incredibly amusing!

On the other end of the phone, Wei Liangxiao, despite his disappointment at not getting help, didn't forget the real reason for his call.

"What's wrong, Wei? Why so quiet? Did you call me just to ask about this?"

"No, no, no, it's not that. It's about my dad. Didn't you ask me last time what he was up to at home? I happened to be home these past few days and just finished talking to him."

When he heard it was about Wei Chuan, Chu Tian's interest was immediately piqued.

"Oh? How did it go? Did your dad say anything?"

Pushing aside his dejection, Wei Liangxiao carefully organized his thoughts before speaking.

"It's like this, President Chu. My dad hasn't left the house for a while and has finished reading the novel you mentioned."

"He said it's a genre he's never encountered before. Although he's not entirely confident, he's very interested."

"He also said that if he were to direct this film, it would be a huge breakthrough for him."

"You might not know this, but my dad is extremely dedicated once he commits to something."

"So, he's been holed up at home recently, and his room is filled with sketches. There are scene diagrams based on his own ideas and storyboard drafts based on the novel."

"When I asked him, he said he wants to talk to you in the next couple of days. He suggested you hold off on filming for now. He plans to share his ideas and see if you're receptive. If you are, he'd like to give it a shot."

Upon hearing this, Chu Tian's eyes lit up.

Having Wei Chuan direct "Candle in the Tomb"? That would be fantastic! Absolutely no problem!

As for lacking experience? What does that matter? So what if he's never directed a similar genre?

Directing is inherently a skill where mastering one aspect allows understanding of all others.

To put it plainly, making a film is about telling a story. As long as you can tell a good story, whether it's an ancient, fantasy, or urban tale, the fundamental logic isn't vastly different.

The differences lie mainly in the presentation and the application of various technologies.

Fortunately, Wei Chuan was excellent at telling stories, so Chu Tian wasn't worried at all about his ability to direct well; he was just curious about the style Wei Chuan would adopt.

"Sure, that works for me. Did Uncle mention a specific time?"

"Yes, yes, yes. He said if it's convenient for you, today or tomorrow would be fine. If not, it's whenever you're free. He's at home and available anytime."

Chu Tian thought for a moment, then nodded. "Let's do tomorrow then. I'll book a place and send you the address later."

"Okay, no problem. I'll let my dad know."

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Chu Tian also breathed a sigh of relief.

When I first started this company, my primary goal was to make films, or more accurately, this whole venture was for the "Candle in the Tomb" IP.

I never expected that the TV series would be almost ready for release, and three or four variety shows would already be underway, while the film project is only just now showing its first signs of life.

Setting aside these thoughts, Chu Tian's mind turned to Xu Qingqiu.

If tomorrow's discussion goes smoothly, I'll be free. Perfect timing to go see Xu Qingqiu.
