Chapter 330: Chapter 0329 Night Exploration (Four more)_1

In the evening, after Ye Xiong returned, he called the An Family Sisters together for an exchange of information.

“How did your investigation go today?” Ye Xiong asked.

Today, Ye Xiong had asked Angel and An Le to separately follow Duanmu Kuang and Duanmu Ba to observe their daily routines.

“Duanmu Kuang’s day was the same as usual, he left home in the morning and stayed in the hospital all day. He never left, not even for lunch, eating within the hospital. If he really is Mr. Ghost, the only places he could meet Ghost would be at the hospital or at home,” An Le, who was following Duanmu Kuang, said.

“Duanmu Ba was almost the same, but he did go out once at noon to meet a client, who probably isn’t a concern. However, Duanmu Ba is extremely vigilant. I don’t know if he noticed me during the surveillance,” said Angel.

“Duanmu Kuang is the same, I feel quite pressured tracking him,” An Le agreed.

“The Duanmu Brothers are central figures of the Lingnan Sect, second only to Murong Feng. Not to mention their medical skill, their martial arts are definitely superior to yours. You must be careful when trailing them. If you’re not absolutely certain, never take a risk. Safety is the most important, understand?” Ye Xiong said sternly.

“We’ll be careful. Master, have you gotten into Duanmu First Hospital yet?” An Le asked.

“Not yet certain, but the chances are quite high.”

Ye Xiong then shared the day’s events with the An Family Sisters.

“Master, by the tone of your voice, that Duanmu Linglong must be quite beautiful. Why not try to woo her? If you managed to, handling affairs in the future would be so much easier,” said An Le with a smile.

“Solve problems on your own whenever possible and avoid dragging others down with you.”

It wasn’t that Ye Xiong hadn’t considered getting close to Duanmu Linglong as a way to gather information, but things hadn’t progressed to that stage. If it wasn’t necessary, he would rather not play with an innocent woman’s feelings.

He still remembered how Li Xiangxiang had died. If he hadn’t used her, perhaps she wouldn’t have met such a fate.

Ye Xiong did not want such a tragedy to happen again.

“Can any of you be a model for me to practice the Nine Acupoint Divine Needles?” Ye Xiong changed the subject.

“I need to use the restroom.”

“I haven’t eaten yet.”

The An Family Sisters coincidentally stood up and headed out.

Ye Xiong sighed and started to unpack a bag on the ground, revealing a human body mannequin inside.

Without a volunteer for his practice, he had bought a mannequin to practice on.

Over the next two days, Ye Xiong waited for a call, but unfortunately, there was no contact from Duanmu First Hospital.

Had he been played?

Just as Ye Xiong was considering other ways to get into the hospital, the HR manager called to invite him for a second interview.

“Another interview?”

“Duanmu First Hospital is a formal municipal hospital; it’s impossible to hire someone with absolutely no medical experience as a nurse. That would be no different from hiring a laborer. Make sure your resume is in order and come for another interview. There shouldn’t be any major issues,” said the HR manager.

Ye Xiong had someone forge a fake education certificate since he was only temporarily investigating, and by the time the HR department verified his information, he figured his mission would be complete.

Armed with the fake credentials, Ye Xiong went for another interview.

This time, the interview was simple, perhaps because the HR manager had given a heads up, so the whole process went very smoothly.

Afterward, the interviewing director told him to come to work in the evening, assigning him to the night shift.

This was also Ye Xiong’s own request. Working at night would make investigating more convenient.

After getting his nurse uniform, Ye Xiong briefly introduced himself to some of the nurses.

Seeing a handsome guy come to work as a male nurse, the nurses were thrilled beyond compare, all of them turning into smitten kittens.

Ye Xiong was like a piece of fresh meat thrown into a pack of wolves; wherever he went, female nurses smiled at him covertly.

Being handsome was one aspect, but what probably intrigued them the most was curiosity, as this was their first time encountering a male nurse.

As night fell, the patients in the wards were all asleep. When Ye Xiong had some free time, he ran to the fifth-floor window to survey the situation of the VIP building opposite.

Downstairs, two security guards were still on watch, and this unusual circumstance made Ye Xiong grow increasingly suspicious.

There must be something not aboveboard happening in that VIP building.

If the building was just housing some prestigious patients, would it really be necessary to station two experts at the door?

Ye Xiong checked the time; it was already past one in the morning and the hospital corridors were deserted.

After pondering for a moment, he left the general hospital building and headed towards the VIP building.

“Halt, what are you doing?”

At the entrance of the VIP building, the two guards fixed their gaze on him like blades when they saw him.

“Don’t you see this uniform?” Ye Xiong said, pulling at his nurse’s outfit.

“This is the VIP ward building, not the general one,” the younger guard said.

Ye Xiong looked around, then slapped his head and said, “Sorry, my mistake. The entrances to these two excellent buildings look so similar. It’s my first day, so I haven’t distinguished them yet.”

After speaking, he didn’t hurry off; instead, he took out a pack of cigarettes, drew out two, and offered them.

“You’re not allowed to smoke on duty, don’t you know?” the younger guard said.

If it weren’t for the fact Ye Xiong didn’t exude even a hint of a killer aura, the guards would have been suspicious long ago.

“This is downstairs, it won’t affect anyone.”

Seeing they didn’t accept, Ye Xiong lit one for himself and started smoking. While smoking, he sighed, “Life is tough. I’d never imagined that I, a fine man, would end up working as a male nurse in a hospital, losing face. To earn three thousand yuan, I’ve thrown away my dignity. At least I have some skills, which is better than guarding the door. How much do you guys make as security guards a month, two thousand five hundred?”

“The salary we get would scare you if I told you…” the younger guard couldn’t help but say.

“Xiao Liu, shut up.”

The older guard on the right quickly stopped him, then said to Ye Xiong, “Indeed, we earn less than you, so you’d better go back. If you’re found lingering here, you might even lose your three thousand yuan job.”

“This hospital sure has a lot of rules,” Ye Xiong said.

Taking another heavy drag from the cigarette like a ruffian, Ye Xiong flicked the butt into the flowerbed and then sauntered off lazily towards where he was supposed to work.

After he left, the younger guard cursed, “That guy, I have no idea how he even got hired at the hospital; he’s just a little hoodlum.”

“Don’t mind him. We just need to do our jobs well,” the older guard instructed.

Ye Xiong surveyed the surroundings of the VIP ward building and found there were two drainpipes he could climb.

Seeing no one around, he quickly hid in the flowerbeds, stripped off his nurse’s uniform, and put on some plain clothes before swiftly scaling the pipes.

Upon reaching the second floor, the entire hallway was quiet, with not a soul in sight.

Ye Xiong rapidly investigated, checking the whole floor and found that indeed it was just wards—some occupied, some empty—with nothing suspicious.

Just as he was about to head to the second floor, his phone rang.

“Chen Yang, where are you? The patient in room three is in critical condition; we need to operate immediately…” A nurse called him.

“I’m in the restroom, I’ll be right there.”

Ye Xiong had to pause his investigation, quickly change into his uniform again, and rush toward the ward.
