My Upgrades are Invincible. Rewrite

I awoke to loud snores ringing out and flexed my muscles to see if I was still hurting. And not feeling any pain I sagged in relief at having obviously been given treatment and potions.

'Morning sun... It's been at least an entire day since the Amphisbaena attack.' I thought as I took in the early morning sun streaming through an open window with soft fresh-smelling air hitting my nose.

But as I breathed in the smells my lips turned up and I stiffened before I sat up as I realized I wasn't in Melen anyone... There wasn't the scent of the ocean, the smell of spices being sold in the street vendors. And most importantly the air lacked the scent of the constant fishing.

Leaning up I saw that Tina and Tamamo were sharing another bed across from me with the snoring coming from Tamamo who was seemingly having issues breathing due to Tina lying awkwardly across the kitsune's chest.

"Girls," I spoke sharply and in an instant I saw Tamamo's crimson eyes open with anxiousness entering her eyes before she relaxed slightly seeing me awake.

"Jake, its good to see you awake... Don't worry, we are with the Astraea Familia." Tamamo spoke while Tina slowly stirred awake.

I brushed my face with my hand as I slowly nodded and Tina spoke quietly. "Jake you been asleep for three days. You went into major Mind Down and Maryuu, Astraea's healer was worried you might enter a coma."

I remained silent for a minute as I digested that... And then I shrugged as I responded honestly. "Was more worried about the burns truthfully. So did I miss anything?" 

Tina and Tamamo both rolled their eyes at my blaise reaction but I just relaxed back in the bed before I asked curiously. "So where are we specifically? We left Melen right?" 

Tina took over as she sat on the edge of the bed and responded to my question.

"Yup! Back to square one in fact! We are back in Orario as me and Tamamo were both taken back here with your unconsciousness as Tamamo had a much milder version of Mind Down, while I went into a healing stupor to heal a broken rib and shoulder after some debris hit me."

I slowly nodded with my lips twitching as I realized I was back under the umbrella of the Zeus and Hera Familia. But then as though sensing my thoughts Tina spoke softly. 

"The Zeus Familia doesn't have a leash on it anymore Jake. It has an executioner's axe poised over it. Lord Ouranous flipped his shit and threatened to send Zeus and Hera back to Tenkai if their games continued and there was another major incident." 

"Ouranous is getting out of his throne and actually doing something?" I muttered in actual surprise. I thought he was just going to sit on the dungeon's lid to keep the boiling lid of hell closed from the mortal world.

But my thoughts were cut off as Tina spoke cuttingly. "Ouranous has specifically ordered for the Familia's of Orario to cut their drama lest he go on his own vacation to Melen... But there aren't any high Gods within Orario that can hold the seal on the dungeon."

I paused as I looked at Tina and I saw real fear in her eyes as she swallowed and said quietly. "Jake... I am scared. What if he actually leaves? And roaming packs of a dozen Udaeus once again fill the world? What will we do?" 

I remained silent for a minute as I wasn't from this world, I didn't understand the genetic horror built into these people that had survived for countless millennia with boss monsters stomping around and endless other monsters pouring into the world from the PIT known as the dungeon.

Finally I broke my silence before I said quietly. "We will do what we have to. Did Ouranous say anything... More concrete other than just threats?" 

Tamamo nodded as Tina stewed on her own thoughts and replied while she began brushing her nine fluffy tails.

"He said specifically that Maxim was a failure... And he had Hera's Familia captain the Empress flog him while he was stripped bare with a paddle made by Hepheastus that had a Durandal Enchantment on it so it wouldn't break."

My lips twitched hearing that and I shook my head as I imagined such a scene of the royal-looking elf beating on some kind of hyper-buff dude before I exhaled and shook the thought away.

"Alright... First order of business, we go meet and thank our hosts and saviors. Then we need to level up. I am ready to hit level three after everything I did to the Amphisbaena." 

Though I didn't specifically say I did half the fucking work and being only level 2... But I knew for a damned fact that doing half the work as a level two was going to give me a stupid amount of High-Quality Excellia.

I had done something worthy of song and fables being written about my ass in how I took out more than half of the heads of the Amphisbaena. I wouldn't be surprised if I got a development ability or a skill based on killing the monster as well.

So leveling up before anything else major that could happen was extremely important.

"Uhh... Where is my armor?" I asked flatly and thankfully I had my weapons in my fusion inventory so they wouldn't be lost...

Fuck the Sword Array was still back in Melen buried beneath the burnt-down fucking remains of our house!

But then I realized another matter. "Wait! Where is Kali and Blake?" I asked as I was surprised Kali wasn't babying me after getting hurt.

And Tina snorted and said with some actual amusement. "Oh... She is driving Shenhe and the other members of the Hera familia insane back at the Hepheastus quarter back in our old apartment."

I paused at putting on a new pair of socks and threw a look at the giggling Tina to continue who did with an evil smile.

"Oh she is going around shamelessly parading how you 'defeated her' a level three and is trolling the fuck out of Blake, Hepheastus and Shenhe as she keeps making teasing points at how you wrestled her into submission most vigorously." 

"Oh, dear gods... Hepheastus is going to think I am a degenerate." I muttered before I brightened at remembering Kali was a half-Amazon! So her being the degenerate was the default!

Seeing my expression of relief Tina giggled and said without any shame at my face paling at her words.

"Yeah about that... Shenhe hearing about how you wrestled someone she thought was two levels below your previous state wants to wrestle you now. To see if you are worthy of becoming a 'second rival' worth her attention."

I was silent as I put on my shoes and mushed my hair into somewhat of a decent state. And then I took a deep breath and said flatly. "I am going to go say hello to Lady Astraea and thank her for taking care of me. You girls can nap, get ready, or whatever. I am heading back to Hepheastus to get my level up." 

Talking with Tina and Tamamo was only leading to completely horrible news... I needed to get the hell away from them obviously.

But a thought did hit and tickle my mind... What happens when Shenhe hears I beat Alfia's level-up record twice in a row?
