Chapter 271: Primordial Forge Authority
"…What?" Liam blinked in a mix of confusion and surprise.
The question caught Liam off guard for a moment.
He stood still, facing the four boys blocking his path. They were around his age, maybe a little older. Each wore a dark coat with a crest on the chest. The crest was a sword crossed with a feather. He had seen the same thing on the guards at the gate.
Probably the sigil of the Royal Academy.
He had not expected to meet students from the Empire's top school this fast. It felt too early. He did not know if this was good luck or trouble waiting for him.
The boy who asked the question shifted his feet, waiting.
"Where did you buy the clothes?" the boy repeated, eyes moving from Liam's shoes to his jacket.
Liam paused, studying them for a brief moment. The boys stood straight with pride in their posture. Their coats were clean, their boots polished, and their belts carried small pouches.
The Royal Academy trained future mages and knights. The sons of nobles. Students who carried the Empire's future on their shoulders. Yet here they were, chasing after a stranger on the street for clothes...
"I bought it from a very far place," Liam answered.
The boy frowned slightly. "Where exactly?"
"It's far," Liam repeated.
He stepped forward, wanting to continue walking. He was not in the mood for a crowd of curious children.
But before he could pass, the boy moved ahead of him and blocked his way again.
Liam stopped, as his eyes narrowed slightly.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
The boy raised his hands a little in defence and trying to explain.
"I'm not trying to cause trouble. I only want to know where you got it. Your clothes are clean and sharp. I like them. I want one too."
"You want one?" Liam asked.
"Yes," the boy said. "Do you have any spares? I have gold. I can pay."
"I have none to sell," Liam said, stepping aside. "Let me pass."
The boy held still for a moment, then stepped aside with a sigh. "Sorry. I didn't mean to stop you."
Liam walked past the group, hands in his pockets. He didn't say anything else.
Behind him, he heard the other students gather around the boy.
"You're letting him go?" one asked.
"Yes," the boy replied.
"But—"
"There's nothing we can do," he said. "And I'm not going to force someone for clothes."
The three boys looked at each other, nodded awkwardly, and followed him down another street.
Liam heard everything but didn't react. He had expected them to pick a fight. Students like that often acted without thinking, but they surprised him by backing down.
It was… surprising.
"Royal Academy kids aren't as troublesome as I thought," he muttered.
He kept walking deeper into Velaris.
The capital was wide and busy. The stone streets stretched far in every direction. Buildings sat close together but not cramped. Tall structures mixed with small shops.
Liam walked past bakeries, blacksmith stalls, potion stands, and book shops. He passed a fountain where children played.
Every part of the city had movement and life. Even the air carried a different weight from Astrin. Velaris was alive, proud, and full of purpose.
But the sun was sinking fast. Orange light spread across the rooftops like a sheet.
It was time to find Chrises.
He closed his eyes for a moment, feeling the faint pull of the slave bond.
He followed it across two streets, then turned a corner, then crossed a small bridge. Ten minutes later, he reached a tall inn with stone walls and wide wooden doors carved with patterns.
He stepped inside.
Warm light filled the entrance hall. Soft music played from a corner. Guests drank and talked quietly. The walls were clean and the chairs were strong. The carpets on the floor showed detailed patterns. This was nothing like the inn from Astrin.
The capital had higher standards.
Liam walked up the stairs and found the room by following the pull of Chrises' presence.
He knocked once and the door opened, with Chrises standing behind it. She stepped aside, letting him in.
He entered and sat on the long sofa near the window.
Chrises stood near him, hands behind her back.
"Did you have fun exploring?" She asked.
"Yeah. I didn't see much but this much is okay for now," Liam replied.
"You can rest for the rest of today. Start your tasks tomorrow," he said.
"Understood," Chrises nodded.
"You will buy a store. But I also want you to search for an estate."
"An estate?" Chrises asked in surprise.
"Yes."
She hesitated. She wanted to ask why. She wanted to know if they would use it as a base or as something else. But the answer came to her before she opened her mouth.
He needed a foothold in the capital. A stronghold. A place to anchor himself in the capital. He can't exactly be running whatever he wants to do from an inn, can be?
She closed her mouth and nodded. "I'll search for one, but estates here are expensive."
"Don't worry about money," Liam said calmly. "I will handle that."
Chrises lowered her head slightly. "Then I will search for both. I will find the best options possible."
"Good."
He leaned back on the sofa. "Go get something to eat. I want to be alone here."
Chrises straightened, stretching her body a little, as she asked, "You're leaving soon?"
"Yes. Before dawn."
She nodded again. "Alright."
Without another word, she picked up her cloak, bowed her head slightly, and left the room.
The door closed behind her.
With Chrises gone, Liam finally exhaled. It was finally time to sign-in for today.
"System, sign-in," he said.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, Host, you received 100,000 Gold Coins]
[You received 10,000 Purple Grade Mana Crystals]
[You received Primordial Forge Authority]
***
Primordial Forge Authority? What are you cooking up this time, system? Liam muttered.
Today's rewards was great. Not as flashy as the first and second day but it wasn't less valuable in the slightest.
Though he felt that the futures sign-in rewards would be mainly gold coins and magic crystals. Just like back in the cultivation world, gold coins and spirit stones.
"It's not bad. I now have 400,000 gold coins and 20,000 purple grade magic crystals. My wealth is increasing exponentially," Liam said to himself.
He looked around the room and decided to return back to Earth. He has achieved his aim for today. He will return tomorrow for another sign-in.
