Chapter 409: Reformed Laws
I exhaled heavily and opened my eyes, taking in the devastation around me.
The green clearing where I had sat a short while ago was barely recognizable. Trees were snapped or reduced to charred stumps. Craters and burn marks scarred the earth, and small chasms cut jagged paths through the terrain.
The experiments I had conducted with my laws had left their mark, and the air still hummed faintly with the lingering Essence.
This was the aftermath of testing my limits, of merging, fusing, and shaping the laws I had mastered.
I closed my eyes for a moment, recalling the steps I had taken. Until now, my control over the minor laws had been strong, but they were still separate, bounded by their individual frameworks.
Fire burned, Ice froze, Lightning struck, Shadow concealed, Vitality healed or sustained. Each law worked well alone, but their potential felt capped.
I wanted more. I wanted synergy, not just raw power. I wanted my laws to talk to each other, to interact naturally, to respond to a single thought, a single flick of my will.
That's when I had decided to fuse them, carefully, in a controlled sequence.
But fusion did not mean loss. Instead, it expanded my control. By combining the core laws, I could now manipulate their essence in multiple ways simultaneously.
Fire and Ice became not opposing forces but complementary tools. Lightning could flow through Stormfire or Froststorm, cutting paths and enhancing effects without me consciously switching laws.
Shadow could now channel Vitality and Devour, pulling life force from enemies and terrain alike. I was no longer juggling individual laws; I was conducting an orchestra of raw force.
I opened my eyes and looked at my new law configuration:
*****
Laws:
- Minor Law of Absolute - 80% (Space, EC, Devour, Assimilation)
- Level 4 - Minor Law of Space, Minor Law of Elemental Convergence
- Level 3 - Minor Law of Devour, Minor Law of Polarity, Minor Law of Assimilation, Minor Law of Stormfire, Minor Law of Froststorm
*****
I could feel the changes immediately. Absolute had become sharper, more decisive, integrating the fused minor laws into a single, coherent command structure.
Space responded faster, bending around my will almost before I thought. Elemental Convergence allowed me to combine fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, and light with barely an effort.
Devour and Assimilation gave me subtle control over energy, life, and matter alike.
Polarity let me manipulate attraction and repulsion at will, creating effects I could combine with Absolute or Stormfire. And the storm laws, Stormfire and Froststorm, now layered their effects automatically, responding to the environment, to enemy movement, even to Essence density.
I flexed my fingers, and violet Essence began to spiral faintly around my palms. A small burst of Stormfire flared at my fingertips, instantly cooling and freezing the grass in front of me with Froststorm.
It was seamless, fluid, effortless. I smiled slightly. This was what I had aimed for, a full integration of the minor laws that still retained mastery over each component. I had not lost my Fire, Ice, or Lightning; instead, I could now manipulate them with far greater finesse.
I thought back to the rationale behind each fusion.
Devour was a combination of Shadow, Vitality, and Absorption. Alone, each law was strong, but together they gave me the ability to drain life force from enemies while controlling the shadows around me.
It allowed me to weaken opponents before even touching them, to pull energy from the environment to enhance my attacks.
Assimilation was similar—Conversion and Absorption merged to let me reshape and redirect energy, matter, and even minor elemental effects.
Polarity combined Attraction and Repulsion, giving me the subtle ability to push and pull with precision, to manipulate both the battlefield and enemies' positioning without ever touching them directly.
Elemental Convergence was perhaps the most elegant of all.
By bringing together Fire, Water, Lightning, Wind, Earth and Light, I could create phenomena that were impossible with a single law.
Lightning could heat frozen air to produce plasma strikes. Fire and Ice could be layered to create storms of molten frost that seared and froze simultaneously.
Light could guide or amplify any of these effects, enhancing their range and precision. And Wind could push and shape every effect naturally. I had effectively created a minor law capable of generating unpredictable, adaptive destruction while keeping full control over every component.
I clenched my fists, flexing my arms and feeling the surge of Essence through my muscles.
Every pulse of energy reminded me that my body had adapted once again. The restructuring of my physical form through previous rank-ups had prepared me perfectly for this.
My Psynapse now hummed at a higher pitch, integrating these fused laws seamlessly. I could sense everything in the clearing with perfect clarity—every blade of grass, every lingering Essence residue, every particle of air vibrating from the residual energy.
The real beauty was how effortless it felt.
Even though I had combined these laws, controlling them did not feel complicated. I could still summon individual effects, like a single blast of Lightning or a gust of Wind, or orchestrate them together into a cataclysm.
The fusion gave me options, flexibility, and a level of destructive power far beyond my previous self. And yet, the foundation remained: Fire was still Fire, Ice was still Ice.
I could strip down the fusion to its original elements whenever needed, or layer them again to unleash complex effects.
As for the [Law of Absolute], its power surged to 80% after merging it with the newly created laws.
Only one slot remained open, and since it was linked to my class, its effects were magnified far beyond normal limits. I decided to wait until I discovered another interesting law before pushing it to 100%, knowing the integration would make it almost unstoppable.
I closed my eyes and focused on the clearing.
The devastation around me was still fresh charred trunks, scorched earth, deep craters but I wanted to test Assimilation.
I reached into the essence flowing within the ground, in the air, even in the residual energy left in the broken trees.
Slowly, I let the law weave with my Psynapse, drawing vitality into the clearing. A faint green shimmer spread over the soil, creeping up the sides of the charred trunks.
The air filled with a soft hum as buds sprouted along shattered branches and grass sprouted through cracks in the earth.
Even small broken roots reformed, reconnecting to the soil.
Within moments, the clearing was no longer a battlefield of ruin, it looked alive again, vibrant and green. I felt the harmony of life returning, and a smile crossed my face.
