Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Zeng Shen's Maternal Family
"Damn it, when it matters most, you just have to go to the bathroom," Zeng Youxin cursed at his son, frustrated, as he moved to the middle of the road, continuing to wave at Zeng Shen.
He was determined to stop the vehicle today, no matter what, to seize the opportunity for financial gain.
"Damn, after dealing with the small fry, now comes the big one," Zeng Shen muttered in annoyance from the driver's seat. He focused his mind and cast another Acute Gastroenteritis spell.
Standing in the middle of the road, Zeng Youxin turned to his wife, Pei Qianfeng, and said, "Darling, once I stop the car, apologize profusely. If necessary, slap yourself a couple of times."
Pei Qianfeng nodded, "I know, but we have to rely on you, Youxin. That brat Jianming just used this as an excuse to avoid facing Zeng Shen."
"Hmph, that useless fool, no backbone. How does he expect to make money? It's always up to me..." Zeng Youxin's words trailed off as he suddenly paused.
His eyes widened, and he clutched his growling stomach, realizing he too needed to rush to the bathroom. Yet, he was unwilling to leave as the RV approached.
He struggled to hold on but eventually couldn't. As he ran home, he shouted to Pei Qianfeng, "Darling, the lunch you made isn't clean. I can't hold it in; I need to go!"
Pei Qianfeng, puzzled, exclaimed, "Why am I fine, but you all have issues?"
At that moment, seeing the RV only thirty meters away, she frantically waved at her husband and son, "Don't leave! Stop the car first, or else..."
Before she could finish, Zeng Shen drove the RV past her without stopping.
Realizing that even if they stopped the car, Zeng Shen wouldn't forgive their past actions, Pei Qianfeng decided to go all out. She lay on the ground and began shouting.
"Oh no, I've been hit! The RV hit me and is trying to flee. My leg, it hurts, it's broken..."
Seeing Pei Qianfeng on the ground, attracting the attention of passersby, Zeng Shen chuckled in anger.
"Look at you, an elderly woman, trying to scam me," he thought. With a focused mind, he cast Acute Gastroenteritis on her.
Instantly, Pei Qianfeng, who was lying on the ground, clutching her stomach and moaning, felt her stomach churn violently.
Her eyes widened, and she clutched her stomach, quickly getting up and running home.
Meanwhile, Zeng Shen deliberately stopped the car in front of her, rolled down the window, and teased, "Ma'am, didn't you say I hit you? Why are you running so fast?"
Pei Qianfeng glared at him, turned away, and continued running.
Ignoring her glare, Zeng Shen closed the window and drove towards his home.
Soon, he parked the RV at the entrance of the Li Family Estate and carried two cases of cocktails towards his courtyard.
Under the dim street lamp, several electric scooters and an old bicycle, belonging to his second uncle, were parked at the courtyard entrance.
His second uncle was a humble man, despite having millions in assets and a small construction company. He preferred riding his old bicycle around town when visiting home, avoiding ostentation.
Whenever Zeng Shen saw this bicycle outside a house, he knew his second uncle was there.
The large iron gate of the courtyard was open, and Zeng Shen walked in, soon reaching the door of his self-built house.
He placed the cocktails on the ground and peered through the screen door into the lively, well-lit interior.
Laughter and chatter filled the air.
In the living room, his father was making tea. On the left bench sat his uncle Wu Yanjian, who worked in agriculture alongside his father, and his three sons: his eldest cousin Wu Hui, second cousin Wu Qin, and third cousin Wu Xi.
On the right bench sat his second uncle Wu Yanqiang and his two sons, second eldest cousin Wu Jin and youngest cousin Wu Zhen.
Near a side door, several nieces were playing games and watching anime on their phones.
In the kitchen, his mother, two aunts, and some cousins-in-law were busy cooking.
In the main hall, five large tables were set up. The main table was a large round stone table, while the other four were traditional Eight Immortals tables.
The tables were laden with delicious dishes such as white-cut chicken, roast goose, chicken giblets and goose liver platter, large prawns, vegetables, pig trotter ribs, fish head with chopped chili, and Chaoshan hotpot.
These were all his favorites, and he couldn't help but want to dig in immediately.
When Zeng Shen appeared at the door, his seven-year-old niece Wu Xingyue, standing by the side room, spotted him and called out in a childish voice:
"Uncle Shen, Uncle Shen is back!"
Instantly, the whole room fell silent, and everyone looked towards the door.
Zeng Shen opened the screen door, picked up his beloved little niece Wu Xingyue, and smiled, "Little Xingyue, you've grown taller."
"Hehe, Uncle Shen, why are you back so late? We've been waiting to eat," Wu Xingyue asked innocently.
"Got delayed on the way," Zeng Shen replied, greeting the elders in the hall.
His aunt, seeing him return, came out of the kitchen and said, "Shen is back; let's eat first and chat later."
"Yes, yes," everyone agreed, taking their seats and starting to eat and drink.
After a few rounds of drinks, Zeng Shen informed his parents and relatives about his upcoming trip to secure raw materials for the pre-prepared food factory.
The meal lasted three hours, followed by another hour of chatting with his maternal relatives in the living room before everyone gradually dispersed.
Zeng Shen, slightly tipsy, eventually made his way to the second floor, where he fell asleep.
When he opened his eyes again, it was already mid-morning.
After a quick wash, Zeng Shen ate the lunch his mother had prepared and drove the RV to the pre-prepared food factory site.
The location wasn't far from his home, in an old residential area.
Many of the old houses belonged to his maternal and some paternal family members. Zeng Shen had convinced his mother's family not to take the relocation compensation but to choose a house in the new Longshen City instead.
They had demolished the old houses, and as Zeng Shen arrived, he saw the site bustling with activity from excavators, trucks, and numerous construction workers.
It was a scene of bustling productivity.
In the distance, he saw piles of building materials, indicating that once the foundations were laid, these materials would be used to construct large factory buildings, rows of dormitories, warehouses, garages, cold storage, storage rooms, administrative offices, and more.
The project was in full swing.
