My step-sister is a villainess!? Don’t be ridiculous! I’ll never forgive those who slandered my sister!

Chapter 2 - Revenge 2

Here’s the perspective of the nobles:

The Crown Prince was aware of Crown Princess Luce’s pregnancy from the start and believed that his engagement with the Duke’s daughter was becoming an obstacle.

However, this engagement was initially suggested by the royal family.

Ending it on his own would undoubtedly tarnish the royal family’s reputation and weaken their position.

Hence, it’s suspected that by falsely accusing the Duke’s daughter and removing her, they aimed to gain influence over the Duke’s family.

Moreover, it was discovered that the Crown Princess’s affair extended beyond just the escort knight and included multiple individuals, such as the Crown Prince’s confidants, sons of prominent nobles, well-known artists, and even influential figures from the temple.

This intel was gathered through the palace’s covert investigation and is deemed credible. However, some of these individuals are currently missing.

Currently, it’s evident that the allegations against the Duke’s daughter were falsified.

Additionally, there are emerging suspicions that the royal family, in collaboration with the temple, orchestrated the framing of the Duke’s daughter to undermine the influential authority of the Duke of Pezzalot.

Notably, the temple has received significant financial support from the royal family under the pretense of ‘donations’ since the saint became queen.

Moreover, the undisclosed expenditures of the Crown Prince during their academy days—

The Crown Prince’s funds were intended for gifts for my older sister, his betrothed.

However, they were instead lavished on presents for the saint girl.

And the same thing happens to the Crown Prince’s close associates and other noble offspring.

“These fools, blinded by love,”

They underestimated the power of the Duke’s family.

The discovery of their unexplained spending surfaced through invoices received from various royal suppliers.

A thorough pile of invoices, meticulously detailing who sent what, to whom, and for what purpose.

Strangely, they attempted to pin the expenses on the Duke’s family.

It was absurd.

As expected, we reported it to each household.

Parents flooded to the Duke, kneeling and apologizing.

They took full responsibility, acknowledging their children’s wrongdoing, but that didn’t absolve them.

Their ignorance was inexcusable.

I never thought the Duke’s family would be treated so disrespectfully.

“Please forgive us!!”

“It was just youthful foolishness! My son was misled by that wicked woman!!”

“We’re victims too!!”

I couldn’t even respond, completely stunned.

I couldn’t forgive them.

Don’t they realize it’s as good as killing the Duchess’s daughter?

I can’t forgive them for their part in this.

“I’m cutting ties with you.”

“W-What?!”

“We’ll repay the money if necessary!”

“Not being able to trade through the duchy’s lands will hurt us!!”

I don’t care!

If you’re angry, blame your own sons!!

Later on, the parents paid the demanded sum and cut off their sons from inheritance.

We couldn’t let troublemakers harm others, so we arranged new jobs for them, with their parent’s help.

They’re now serving as palace servants.

They might even be grateful for the opportunity to work alongside their superiors.

Their parents should be relieved that the matter was resolved without severe consequences and with a substantial payment.

Usually, they and their families would face execution, but I chose to be merciful this time.

They should appreciate that.

Parents who would readily abandon their sons to save themselves.

It’s such a cliché response that it’s almost comical.

Their actions, acting as though they had never had sons mistreated and exploited by those they had oppressed before, were somewhat commendable in their own right.

“Well, I haven’t forgiven them for this. I won’t let them off the hook easily with execution. What were they thinking?”

Three years later, many nobles faced ruin, and there was uproar as families were torn apart.

It was widely understood that at the heart of it all were the families of former associates of the Crown Prince of this country.
