My step-sister is a villainess!? Don’t be ridiculous! I’ll never forgive those who slandered my sister!

Chapter 10 - Outsider

“Of course, I know. Why does it matter?”

“Um…”

I hesitated in response.

I didn’t know how to answer.

“Anyway, isn’t your birthday coming up soon? We were planning a grand party, including your debut, but then you fell ill, Miguel. So, we’ll have to postpone your debut for now.”

“What!?”

I involuntarily exclaimed, hastily covering my mouth.

“But, it’s not a big deal. It’s just postponed for about six months. You’ll have plenty of time to prepare properly during that period,” she reassured me.

“Oh, I see…”

I heaved a sigh of relief.

By the way, I’ll be turning eight this year.

Perhaps because of my memories from before, I don’t quite feel my age.

Well, being treated like a child by everyone around me is a strange feeling, though.

“But it’s a shame. I was looking forward to seeing Miguel’s debut.”

“You don’t have to see it that badly!”

I retorted reflexively, and she chuckled.

Oops!

“Oh my, such a cheeky thing to say, you troublesome child. But don’t worry, I’m relieved. When Miguel first arrived here, he was so timid, like a borrowed kitten. Unlike a real kitten, he didn’t hiss, but his excessive caution made me wonder what to do. Your mother was worried too, thinking someone might have said something unpleasant to you. Remember, no matter what anyone says, you’re the Duke of Pezzalot’s son, my little brother. Don’t forget that.”

she said mischievously, reminiscent of the past.

Her words brought back memories.

Whenever the opportunity arose, my step-sister would remind me,

“You are the eldest son of the Pezzalot Duke. Remember that you are the heir.”

At the time, I didn’t fully grasp the significance of her words.

Back then, I was always anxious about being too assertive or not being modest enough, fearing I might be ousted.

But her advice also served as a gentle reminder to our relatives and the outsiders who looked at me with scrutiny.

It was her way of showing consideration, emphasizing that despite being born in obscurity, I was still the eldest son of the duke’s family.

My step-sister must have been worried about me.

They’re talking about me, someone who doesn’t resemble them at all.

Well, it’s no surprise since I’m not even my stepfather’s biological son.

Moreover, every aspect of my appearance resembles my birth mother.

If only I had resembled my birth father even a little bit, things might have been different.

Unfortunately, my features clearly mark me as someone from a foreign land.

With my uncommon black hair and black eyes in this country, I stand out.

In contrast, my step-sister is a beautiful girl with silver hair and purple eyes, inherited from our stepmother.

Our stepmother, Duchess Venazia Pezzalot, is a stunning woman with silver hair and blue eyes, while our stepfather, Duke Hoan Pezzalot, is a handsome man with golden hair and green eyes.

It’s not unreasonable for outsiders to see me as an oddity, a dark-haired anomaly in this household.
