Chapter 139: Frenzy Punches
Juer'lo scoffed at the sight, but the corners of his mouth curled into a sinister smirk. His voice was low, mocking, dripping with twisted amusement.
"This is pointless… but you're interesting," the demon said, his two horns gleaming under the twin moons. He chuckled darkly, the sound echoing with malice. "Show me more interesting things!"
"Shut up, demon!" the man roared, his voice raw, guttural, laced with hate and despair.
He punched forward, his entire body twisting with the motion.
From his fist surged bright, searing-hot flames—blue fire so intense it distorted the air as it surged outward.
The torrent roared like a living beast, blasting straight toward Juer'lo in a wave that promised nothing but obliteration.
For the first time, Riley noticed Juer'lo's expression shift.
His brows twitched, his grin faltered just slightly. He hadn't expected that level of heat, that much raw destructive power. The firestorm rushed toward him, brighter and deadlier than the last.
For just a fraction of a second—Juer'lo was surprised.
However, darkness suddenly flared to life around his hands, the air rippling as though reality itself resisted the power he was about to unleash.
His smirk returned, cruel and confident, and he spread his clawed fingers wide before stretching his arms toward the oncoming torrent of blue fire.
With a guttural snarl, the demon unleashed his own power.
A torrent of black flames erupted outward, surging like a tidal wave of nightmarish fire. The darkness hurtled forward and collided with the rushing sea of blue flames midair, and in an instant, the world shook.
The collision tore at the surroundings, a violent detonation that sent a scorching heatwave crashing through the air.
The smaller demon who had guided Juer'lo flinched, stumbling back with terror painted on his face as the heat seared against his skin.
Dust and loose stones whipped up in a frenzy as the two powers clashed, fighting for dominance in the middle of the battlefield.
Riley, still buried in the vision of memory, felt the heat wash over him. Though he knew none of this could harm him, still, the raw intensity of the two forces colliding made even his chest tighten slightly.
The two fires—blue and black—clashed like beasts, tearing into each other with savage hunger.
The blue flames surged forward with the man's rage, blazing wildly as though carrying the hatred of a hundred souls.
But slowly, ever so slowly, Juer'lo's black flames pressed against them with a crushing inevitability.
The balance tipped.
The blue fire faltered, buckling under the weight of the demonic darkness.
Inch by inch, Juer'lo's flames forced it back, pushing the human's desperate struggle into retreat.
The man's eyes widened in shock, disbelief flashing across his sweat-streaked face.
"No… impossible…" he muttered under his breath, his voice cracking. His conviction burned strong, but it wasn't enough.
In the very next second, the last of the blue flames shattered under the weight of Juer'lo's darkness, extinguished as though they had never existed.
The black inferno surged forward unopposed, roaring with demonic hunger.
The blast slammed into the man's chest with earth-shattering force.
He cried out—a guttural, pained grunt that ripped from his lungs—as his body was hurled backward like a ragdoll.
Blood sprayed from his mouth, staining the air crimson as he coughed violently mid-flight. His back hit the dirt hard, the ground cracking beneath his body as he skidded and rolled.
Juer'lo didn't give him even a breath.
With the ferocity of a predator, the demon lunged forward, his speed terrifying.
In less than an instant, he was upon the broken human. He reached down with one massive hand, seizing the man's leg in a vice-like grip.
Then, without hesitation, he swung him violently and slammed him against the ground.
The impact was brutal, a thunderous crash that sent a tremor racing through the earth.
Before the man could even groan in pain, Juer'lo was already moving.
His free fist clenched, shadows swirling tightly around it, and he drove it downward in a savage punch aimed squarely at the man's face.
BOOM!
The punch connected with devastating force, cracking the ground beneath.
The man's head was smashed into the dirt, buried deep into the earth like a nail driven by a hammer.
Dust exploded outward in a violent cloud, and the fractured ground split into jagged lines around the crater.
The man's body twitched, his blue flames sputtering and flickering weakly.
They no longer blazed with furious conviction; they danced erratically, stuttering like a candle struggling against the wind.
Riley could only watch, his fists unconsciously tightening at his sides. The man's fire—his conviction—was burning out.
Juer'lo's lips curled back, a low, guttural chuckle rolling from his throat as his burning crimson eyes fixed on the broken man beneath him.
The sound was cruel, mocking, dripping with satisfaction. His massive hand still pressed the human's body into the fractured earth, but his other hand clenched tightly before he drove it down once more.
The punch landed with a sickening crack. Then another. And another.
Juer'lo unleashed a savage flurry of blows, his fists hammering down like meteors.
Each strike shook the ground, pounding the man's face deeper into the earth, until the dirt cratered and splintered further with every impact.
The man, bloodied and reeling, desperately tried to bring his arms up, his trembling hands attempting to shield his battered face. But it was useless.
SMASH!
The demon's fist obliterated his left arm in an instant, bones and flesh exploding into a mangled paste beneath the sheer force.
"Argh—!!" The man's scream was strangled, cut short by another brutal punch.
CRACK!
The other arm met the same fate, crushed to pulp as Juer'lo's strikes kept raining down without pause or mercy.
Blood sprayed outward in violent bursts, splattering across the ground, painting jagged streaks on the cracked earth, and even staining Juer'lo's torso and face.
But the demon didn't flinch, didn't even acknowledge it. The warm spray of crimson only seemed to fuel his frenzy, his fists blurring with monstrous speed as he continued to pound the man into ruin.
