My SSS-Rank Dungeon: Reborn In A Reverse World

Chapter 130: Leon Opposing Amber

Leon could see that Amber wouldn't back down and the other side had also realized it. These indirect tactics wouldn't work on her.

It meant Cha Yoori couldn't do anything in this situation unless the people who supported her claim stood up against Amber, which Leon highly doubted they would.

It would leave people in doubt, so Leon couldn't have it. Amber had set up the stage, so he had to take advantage of it.

So, he smiled and stepped forward while shouting at Amber, "Professor, it's fine. They are my fellow brothers and sisters, so if I can somehow motivate the future heroes of humanity, I'll feel honored."

The silence broke after his words as everyone cheered for him. They were touched by his care for humanity and they began to admire him even more.

'It really is easy to influence the common public, especially if you're someone they already like. Why do I feel like those black-hearted celebrities?' Leon wondered.

On the other hand, Cha Yoori's eyes were shining hearing his words as she scoffed in her heart, 'Men will be dumb as always. They really should just stick to flipping burgers for us. Thanks for helping me, idiot.'

She didn't let the opportunity slip as she pressed on, "See that, Amber? He's such a brave and honorable man. I'm sure he'll become a legendary hero one day and be remembered forever. Let him show the world his talent."

"Vermithor, remember that title?" Amber asked in an even tone. "She held her ground against a Tier 4 Rift all by herself in the Dark Era. If it wasn't for her, a whole continent would have been wiped out back then. Remember her?"

"Of course. Who doesn't remember her?" Cha Yoori asked with a frown. "But why are you bringing this up? I'm sure this young man will also be known forever just like her."

"Because she gave her life for humans, and while she's still known for her deeds, most of the people don't even know her name but only her title," Amber asked, as she took a step forward. "Why don't you tell me her name?"

Cha Yoori opened her mouth to answer but couldn't remember the name. She was always known as Vermithor, so nobody paid attention to her real name.

"Heh, and you dare speak about going down in legends!" Amber scoffed in disdain. "Her name was Sydney and she was a daughter of a Syndicate Boss, yet she gave her life for the humans. Do you know what's the current condition of her family?"

Cha Yoori remained silent, just like the rest of the stadium. They really didn't know anything about her family. Most of them didn't even remember her name.

"Most of them died while protecting a school from Abyssal Creatures when a Rift opened near it. They knew it was a hopeless situation, but they stayed and fought for the kids," Amber said, her voice laced with anger.

Leon could see that she wasn't acting. She truly seemed triggered by Cha Yoori's words and he knew it had nothing to do with Vermithor herself.

'Then what? What triggered her?'

"You don't know, do you?" Amber's voice filled with contempt irritated Cha Yoori to no end, but she couldn't even say anything. "The rest of their family died on the streets after a certain incident which left them with nothing. No one came to help them. A legend's descendants died while begging for food from the same humans she once saved. Tell me, was it worth it?"

Cha Yoori was stumped for words. Just like the rest of the people present in the stadium. They didn't think there was such a story behind a legend like Vermithor.

"Legends. Heroes. Known forever. It's all bullshit that you hypocrites use to make people die for your goals," Amber's voice came through her gritted teeth. "One only becomes a hero when they die. People celebrate their death because they were safe 'cuz of that death. Who even wants to become a hero for you pathetic bunches?"

She pointed her fingers at the northern section and sneered, "Hero? Known throughout history? If that position is really such a big deal, then why the hell are you all hiding behind your masks? Don't you want the world to know who you are so you can be heroes too?"

Turning towards Cha Yoori, she added, "And you… you seem to really like throwing this legend word around a lot, so how about you accompany me to Australia? I'll sacrifice you there and win the continent back for us. That's my promise. Do you dare to take such a gamble? You'll be celebrated as the legend who helped heavily in the reclamation of that continent."

Cha Yoori stepped back unconsciously. She couldn't help it. Amber's aura was simply too fierce even though she was just talking.

As for her question, she wanted to shout right there. Why would she sacrifice herself? She wasn't that selfless and idiotic!

"See? Those selfless idiots die for this land and their race but you all… you're all just pathetic pieces of disappointment! Leeches who live by sucking others' merits!"

Amber spat on the ground and warned.

"You can do that with others, but I won't let my students be one of them. Try to use them for your lowly games and I swear on my master Infinite Hand Miyabi's name that I will slaughter every single one of you."

Leon felt a chill run down his spine hearing her words. He felt her killing intent weighing on his heart even though he wasn't the target of it.

He glanced at the others and found them in a similar case.

'What an opening ceremony!' Leon sighed. 'But it means nothing. While some of them will side with her and maybe some others will be moved by her words, most of them won't. They have thicker skin.'

He knew it clearly. Amber knew it too. That was why she had at first decided to just use Cha Yoori to gain some benefits, but when she spoke of legends…

Her blood boiled in anger and as someone who never kept her emotions inside her heart, she let them out.

There were a few Ascended present in those boxes, but she didn't care. Even if they all came together at her, she could defeat them all.

All because of that one word—'Legend'.

Just the thought of Leon turning into a legend like 'her' chilled her heart. It had already happened once. She wouldn't let these leeches steal someone close to her again.

That was why she forgot all her plans and even the fact that she was present in the Conclave.

The whole world heard her words, and so many people were affected by them. In their minds, only one question remained.

Was it really worth it? Was it worth dying for humanity? The same humanity who wouldn't care about their loved ones?

A single speech had affected many. A speech that Amber didn't even plan to give. But what truly impacted others was that only a few boxes opened their glass panels to let others see them, and the fact that Cha Yoori, who was speaking so passionately about humanity, was silent on Amber's question.

All of this had an impact on people, especially the ones present in the stadium. They were the ones mostly stimulated by her speech.

Leon noticed it and frowned, 'This isn't good! That big idiot! I don't know what happened to you but this illusion is necessary. Don't break it!'

He knew he needed to step in before things escalated too much. The direction at which things were moving wasn't good at all.

Some lies were important and some illusions were necessary to keep the unity of humans, and only when they were united could they resist the Corruption.

"I disagree, Professor!" Leon said, surprising everyone.

Some of them had expected counters but certainly not from her own student. It was quite a sight and now everyone was curious about his following words.

"And why do you disagree?" Amber asked, her voice softer than before.

She was genuinely curious about his answer. She wanted to know it. She knew in her heart that she wanted to stand against her own words, but she couldn't do it.

If she did, who would she blame her death for? Where would she put her anger and how would she fill the void she left behind?

Yet, she looked forward to understanding his beliefs.

Leon stared into her eyes and seemed to see through her thoughts, 'You really want this, huh. I don't know what happened to you, but you need to let go of it now, Amber.'

"Tell me, Professor, do you truly think Vermithor died for them?" Leon asked, pointing towards the boxes, especially at Cha Yoori. "As you said, Vermithor came from a dark background, then do you truly think she didn't know of the dark heart of humanity? Do you truly think she died to protect that darkness? Ask yourself these questions before answering me."
