Chapter 118: Gifts
Leon had decided to explore many locations with his friends to boost them and also let others have a boost in their power. It was a strategy to make many strong allies.
But then he remembered the incident of the Flame Knight Dungeon and knew that anything could go wrong in Event Two.
So, he chose the option to ask Amber to gather some things and also borrowed some money.
It wasn't free, though.
The money he borrowed to buy stuff had to be repaid with interest of 10% per month. It was ridiculous, but he took it since he really needed that money.
The sales of Clearwill Potion would easily cover it.
As for the certain locations he needed to visit, he sent Amber there since it was just a matter of moments for her. She just needed to teleport there and take the desired item.
There were few things on Earth that could actually hurt her aside from humans.
As for the price, he paid dearly for it too.
He stared at his friends and smiled, knowing it was all worth it as long as these people could get stronger before Event Two.
He turned toward Rani, who was looking at him with hesitation clear in her eyes. He smiled reassuringly and said, "You care too much about your best friend and also have a style that suits your role for her. That's why I decided to bring these for you."
He shoved three boxes to her side and said, "Why don't you open them and check?"
Rani nodded and opened the first box, which had a small rubik's cube. She raised an eyebrow and clicked on its centre, and her fingertip got swallowed by the cube.
After a few seconds, she raised her eyes and informed others, "Shadow Step. E-Rank Skill. It allows me to blink a few meters in seconds and also gives me stealth for a few seconds afterwards. It'll be a very useful skill."
"Damn, that's awesome," Bella exclaimed. "Now, you can come to my safety if someone is after me."
"It's good." Denver nodded along.
"Open the second one," Leon said.
Rani opened the second box and found a jet-black jagged dagger in it. Its surface was like obsidian glass, and it remained dark even under the light.
"Silent Fang Dagger. It isn't much powerful or anything, but it's durable and gives you the enchantment of silence. It will silence all movements of the dagger like cutting the air and all, so you can hit them properly," Leon explained, seeing her puzzled look.
"You really chose an assassin way, huh," a subtle smile lingered on her face as she said. "I like both of them a lot."
"Then you'll like the third one even more."
The third box contained a pair of black boots.
"They'll increase your movement speed," Leon said. "I'm sure this is your favorite of the gifts, right?"
"Definitely!" Rani nodded in agreement and picked up the boots. "I love speed. Thank you for all of this, Leon. It means a lot to both of us."
Bella nodded alongside, "Yup, yup. This is actually the first time someone gave us gifts, so thanks a lot. We'll treasure them."
She turned to look at Rani's gifts and grumbled, "But why did she get three and only two for me?"
"Because your coat was way too expensive," Rani voiced out while smacking her best friend's back, and Leon chuckled, seeing how she guessed it correctly.
"I set a budget for everyone, and your coat took a huge chunk of it," Leon said before he turned toward Denver. "Now it's time for the big guy. What do you think you'll get?"
"Hmm, since you're giving us things on the basis of what we like and how we fight, then I'm guessing it's related to defense." Denver said, rubbing his chin in wonder.
"Bingo!" Leon patted his shoulder and said with a grin. "Your gift took a lot of effort actually because I wanted to find something that doesn't consume too much Essence."
Saying that, he took out a big shield that easily covered his whole front and placed it on the table, "It's Bulwark Katah Shield, forged by the Blacksmith Katah of the Dwarf Race. It's Tier 2 and has two enchantments."
"Two? That's a surprise," Natasha said.
Most of the Tier 2 Artefacts only had one enchantment, so it came off as a surprise that they were seeing one with two. That also meant the shield was very expensive.
"Yup, two of them," Leon smiled and said. "First one allows the wielder to use his stamina to increase the defense of the shield, while the second one allows them to control its weight."
"Damn bullshit! He can throw shields and they'll also be very strong!" Bella cursed. "I would have called him by that superhero name, but he's neither a Captain, nor are we in America."
Leon rolled his eyes at her remark and said, "He has considerably lower level than all of us, but he's very strong physically. I think it's probably because he got some Giant Bloodline, but we can't say for sure."
He shook his head and gave him a bracelet made of purple beads, "Wear this all the time. It'll increase your stamina and also its recovery. It compliments well with the shield."
"Thank you."
Denver was a man of few words, so he didn't speak much, but anyone could see the gratitude in his eyes.
He was a loyal shield who had chosen to protect everyone.
"And that leaves me, little brother," Natasha shifted closer to him and put her hand in his while she whispered with a lick on her juicy lips. "Your seeds will be the best gift."
Leon was already getting used to her freakiness, but now he felt there were still many things he needed to learn about this damned vixen.
Still, he wasn't going to show his flustered side to her, so he just flashed a toothy grin and said, "Can you become stronger with my seeds?"
"I certainly can become stronger with them in my womb," Natasha smiled sweetly at him and traced her hand along his arm, but he stopped her before it could reach his face.
Then, he brought it to her lips and rubbed them lightly. "We can't win this battle with that, M'Lady. So I'll have to disappoint you."
He withdrew and noticed a flicker of disappointment in her eyes before she masked it with her smile.
"But we can discuss this at a further date if we survive this situation," Leon said after taking a long pause deliberately.
A pinkish flame burned in Natasha's eyes upon hearing his words as she grinned widely and said, "Then I'll make sure everything goes smoothly. Even if I have to use everything."
Leon chuckled, turned toward the others, and found Bella sitting covering her face with both of her hands while the other two were discussing something about their gifts.
He shook his head and said to Natasha, "Anyways, your gift is the most precious of all, and it's the only one I can give you."
"Biased, eh?" Bella wiggled her brows, still having her hands on her face.
"She's the strongest of us, so her becoming even stronger will be the best," Leon took out a small wooden box and put it in Natasha's hands.
The pink-headed girl took the box with curious eyes and opened it slowly. The moment her gaze landed on the item inside, her whole body shook visibly while her mouth went wide open.
Her reaction made others even more curious as they all shifted to see the item. At the centre of a cushion inside the box sat a small, beautiful pearl which shone with a mix of colours.
Even from a distance, they could feel its intense heat, which made them wonder what it truly was.
Meanwhile, Natasha was too dumbstruck to even say anything. Her mind had only registered the pearl and nothing else. All her thoughts pointed to one question.
"How did Leon acquire this?"
She swallowed hard and asked with a trembling voice, "L-Leon, is this real?"
"100% real deal. I had to make a deal with the devil to bring it to me, but it worked. So, did you like the gift?" Leon nodded, quite satisfied to see her reaction.
Natasha took a deep breath, still staring deeply at the pearl. Then, she closed the box and pushed it toward Leon. "I can accept other gifts, but this one is simply too precious."
"You know what it means to you, right?" Leon asked with a knowing smile. "Take it. It's a gift from me. Besides, aren't you planning to wed me? Then it's just an early gift."
"It's a different thing," Natasha said, her face flushed and her hands shaking. "I can't take it. No, you must not tell about its existence to anyone, especially to my family."
"Nat, what is it and why do you have such a strong reaction?" Bella asked the question everyone was curious about—including Leon.
He knew the pearl was very important to her, then why was she so scared?
