Chapter 303- Back In The Tower (Part 27)

"Hnng…" Arthur slowly opened his eyes with a small groan. The moment his consciousness returned, a stream of pain assaulted his body from every place, making him squint as he clenched his teeth. "What…?" He muttered.

Blinking slowly, Arthur looked left and right, trying to understand his position and where he was. His memory was still very foggy so he couldn't remember everything instantly. But, with a few seconds awake, everything finally flashed before his eyes again.

'Fuck… I was fighting those monsters and then… Did that awful skill activate again?' He frowned as he tried to wake up. The familiar burning pain reminded him of the Berserker Of The New World. After all, no other thing could give him that trip of agony other than that skill.

'It got activated again and I lost all sense of reality. Goddamit!' Arthur felt extremely annoyed that he reached the threshold where the skill would automatically activate. He wanted to avoid using it by all means possible. The feeling ti gave him and the effects it has on him were simply far too damaging to his mind and body for it to be worth it.

Yet, Arthur cannot avoid it at all due to its nature. If he lets his health reach that 5% mark, he is done for.

"Don't move… You're still heavily injured." At that moment, a calm voice snapped him out of his thoughts. Looking up, he saw Deka resting her back near him.

"Deka…" He muttered as he adjusted his sitting posture with a small groan. The injuries on his body were healing visibly, but they were far from good. He could barely move his limbs without immense pain.

"What happened?" He asked. "Did the Yetis run away?"

Arthur had a hunch about what could've happened. That monstrous skill, as terrifying as it was, was still his strongest ability by far. Whenever it activates, it is carnage. That was why the backlash on his body would be that great.

However, nothing prepared his mind for the scene he was about to see. Deka stared weirdly at him for a few seconds as if she didn't know what to say before she pointed to the side.

"That's your work."

Arthur raised an eyebrow and looked where she was pointing, only to freeze in his place. "... Huh?"

In the distance, a large pile of dead Yetis could be seen covering a large area. There was not an inch of land there not covered in guts, flesh, or both. Dismembered bodies, heads, and all kinds of disgusting body parts riddled every inch.

The scene looked like the result of a war, not a battle. Nothing about the scene felt real. A chill ran down Arthur's spine.

"I… did that?" He asked. There were so many corpses he couldn't even count them and the way they were brutally murdered made his heart grow cold. 'What the hell did I do?'

"..." Deka watched Arthur's expression change from a second to the other. It was clear that he wasn't aware at all when he turned into that monster. However, it still didn't make her feel any better.

"What was that, Arthur? What got into you?" She asked.

"..." The boy remained silent.

"I don't know if that was intentional or not. But, I really don't know what to do anymore. Everyone is afraid of you and I'm the only one who is sitting this close to you."

"It was out of my control." He replied, cutting her off. "I had no other choice there."

"..." The woman pursed her lips as myriads of emotions flashed across her eyes. "Is that something that will occur continuously?"

"No, this isn't common. I rarely end up in that state. Consider it a moment of desperation."

"Is that so?" She muttered under her breath as she closed her eyes, thinking for a moment. "Well, either way, I still want to say something…"

Then, she turned around and bent her head down, bowing to Arthur. "Thank you very much for saving our lives. We owe you greatly for it."

The boy was a little taken aback for a moment before he exhaled a small breath. "Don't worry about it. I did it for myself mostly."

'I was going to train and kill monsters either way. It would've been optimal if I didn't have to use that skill, but I underestimated their numbers and put myself in a horrible position.' He mused.

"No, I will make sure to repay you for this in the future. If you ever need me to help with something, I will help as much as I can."

"..." Arthur looked to the side at the woman before he shook his head. "Sure."

'I don't think there is anything I could need her help for but I will just see what happens.'

After that, Arthur rested his back against the tree trunk and closed his eyes for a moment. 'I'm so exhausted. This has been a really tiring journey and it isn't even done yet. There is still an entire river to pass.'

Arthur was dreading what could happen in the next several hours but he had nothing he could do. If he wanted to leave this tower before the time for school, then he had to hurry.

Opening his inventory, Arthur pulled another healing potion and drank it, helping his healing process even better. He noticed that his healing ability had increased quite a lot out of nowhere. His massive injuries were visibly getting better by the minute.

'This would've normally taken a few hours to fix. What the hell happened?' The boy was a little confused. But, then he quickly remembered something. 'My stats!'

After such a brutal battle, Arthur's stats were bound to skyrocket. Killing that many monsters with their absurdly high level was basically a rain of exp points and stat points.

So, quickly, he opened the menu and went to his profile. The moment his eyes fell on his stats section, he froze for a moment.

The improvement Arthur saw was far beyond what he expected. After all, the true scale of his massacre still didn't settle down in his head.

'34 bonus points are ridiculous… I think I should probably use them, right?' He asked himself with a frown. 'I don't want to be wasteful. These points could be the difference between me dying and winning. I have to be wise with them.'
