Chapter 46: Elizabeth
Felix took his mother up to his room, guided by the manager himself. The room turned out to be as spacious as an apartment, furnished with everything one could ever need.
He also learned that the entire floor belonged to him alone and was made inaccessible through the elevator for anyone who didn't have the VIP card specially designed for that floor.
The manager had also said that whatever Felix chose to order, from the meals to the drinks to any other service the hotel provided, was on the house for as long as he stayed there.
Honestly, Felix was impressed. He didn't hold back when he decided to order a buffet right then and there for him and his mother. And it was prepared and delivered just the way he wanted it.
Felix urged his mother to not hold back and eat her fill, and he too ate, unreserved, to his fill.
His mom gisted him on all the things he missed out while he was away, and Felix told her all about his adventure in Vastoria—leaving out a few details.
He also lost count of how many times he blushed to his mother's compliments.
But when he asked about the café they'd been running together like a family business, he noticed his mother quickly changed the topic.
Felix decided not to push it and relish the moment—every second of it. But he made a mental note to look into it later.
After eating, Felix requested the abundant leftovers to be packaged and delivered to their home's address for his mom, when she stopped him and told him she wasn't living there but was on a holiday at her mom's place—his grandparents'.
Now, Felix found this very suspicious as it was unlike his mom to suddenly decide to go on a "holiday" in no other place but her mom's.
"Mom, are you sure everything is okay?" Felix asked in concern.
"Y—Yeah. Everything is fine. You have nothing to worry about," Mrs. Thomasville replied with a reassuring smile.
Felix could only trust her words and nod his head. He went ahead to ask her to stay with him at the hotel as the entire floor now belonged to him, including every room in it which would remain vacant, but she'd kindly declined the offer claiming she wasn't comfortable with the hotel's ambiance and wouldn't be able to get any sleep.
Felix knew the truth was because she wasn't used to that level of luxury and VIP service and felt like she was leeching off what she didn't work for. But this made Felix swear within himself that he was going to spoil his mother so much during the period he would be staying on Earth, that this extent of luxury would become her daily lifestyle.
Mrs. Thomasville had also rejected Felix's offer to spend just the night at the hotel, and so Felix had to call the manager down to instruct him to prepare a ride and security personnel for his mother to drive her back to her mother's place which happened to be in another city.
After seeing his mother off with the entire hotel staff, Felix returned to his room and fell on the most comfy bed he'd ever laid on. He wanted nothing more than to just lay there forever, when his phone began buzzing on the table where his mom had left it.
She had brought his old phone and laptop with her when she came.
Felix groaned lazily as he got off the bed and picked up the phone, only to be stunned by the 99+ missed calls and text messages from both saved contacts and unknown numbers.
He quickly ran his eyes through his inbox which was comprised of congratulatory messages and texts claiming they just wanted to check up on him—these were from people that didn't give a shit if he was dead or alive in his previous life, suddenly acting like they cared because he was the hottest topic in town now.
Felix was disgusted, but amused as he saw even messages from high school classmates he'd never exchanged a word with throughout his high school years, and even some from the popular kids then.
He suddenly paused at one particular message from a familiar name:
—
Hi, Felix.
It's Elizabeth, your high school crush (blushing face emoji)
How have you been doing? Hope you're eating well and didn't stick to skipping lunch for the arcade? (smiling emoji)
I know we didn't start off well back then, but I want you to know the only reason why I rejected you five times was because I wanted to focus on my studies and was scared you'd play with my feelings, because I'm an obsessive and clingy lover.
But now that we're both adults and understand our feelings better, how about we hit it off somewhere nice and peaceful?
Would've loved it to be your mom's café, but sadly it got demolished.
Your choice. (All bills on me).

When Felix saw who the text was from and was a bit lengthy, he heavily considered ordering a bucket of popcorn for the fun read.
Elizabeth wasn't just your average high school girl back then, she was the most popular female and was the class belle throughout their high school years.
But Felix and Elizabeth both had something in common: they came from a poor background.
Elizabeth paraded herself in school as the heiress of one business mogul which was believable because she always dropped off in front of a mansion and went in like it was her home. But her mom only worked as a house cleaner there and they lived in the same shack neighborhood as Felix and his mom.
So he and Elizabeth were sort of childhood friends and she had been a very sweet little girl till she entered high school and began rolling with the wrong set of friends who were all from a wealthy family. And so she lied, and kept on doing just that till she became so entitled to her delusions and fake lifestyle that she began to feel like she was above the world.
Felix felt nostalgic reminiscing about the good ol' days while reading Elizabeth's text, until he got to the part where she mentioned his mom's café had been demolished.
Felix's expression instantly changed and became serious. He remembered when he'd asked his mother how it was doing but she'd changed the topic.
Felix quickly shot up from his bed, grabbed a hoodie and sweatpants from the wardrobe, and quickly changed into them.
He was going to investigate why the café had been demolished and who had done it. And if it turned out to be for an illegal reason, then he was going to drag those responsible down to the underworld himself.
