Chapter 40: FishyMitchy
"Yeah… want to see something cool?" Felix asked with a charming smile as he grabbed Yemada's hands in his and locked eyes with her.
Yemada didn't pull her hands away. She just stared back at him eye to eye with an unreadable expression. But her silence spoke louder than any word she could utter.
Felix took her silence for a yes.
"Yemada?"
Just as Felix was about to activate the [Absolute Domain] skill and give the beautiful Sage a tour of his dark manor, the voice of another female Sage suddenly reached their ears.
Yemada quickly pulled her hands away from Felix's grasp as she turned to face her colleague with a questioning gaze.
The Sage's gaze lingered on both of them for a full minute with an unreadable expression, before she spoke again.
"It's time to go," she said and turned, walking away.
Yemada then turned back to Felix, who smiled sheepishly at her. This forced her to smile back in kind, as if they both acknowledged they'd been caught.
"Maybe some other time," Yemada finally said and turned to leave, when Felix softly grabbed her arm.
"Can you keep this a secret? At least for now," Felix asked her. He wasn't sure he was ready to let the Sage council, or anyone else, know just yet.
Yemada nodded in understanding, then walked away in the direction the other Sage had gone.
"I want to believe you weren't just about to bring up another woman to my house to fuck her." The familiar voice of the demoness, Lilith, resounded in Felix's head as he watched Yemada disappear around a corner.
"Shut up!" Felix chuckled in amusement.
Like he'd said earlier, though the domain now belonged to him, it was once the private pocket realm for the Witch Master himself during his time, and also where Lilith had hid away in hibernation for close to a millennium since the Great War, now also being used as his lobby because they were bankrupt.
So he and Lilith could be considered housemates—or domain mates. As they both held equal rights and authority in the realm. And Lilith was like his sponsor and manager now.
Felix navigated his way back to the banquet hall where he met his peers bidding farewell to the nobles and made a beeline for the kitchen to request two sets of the dishes, pointing out what should and what shouldn't be added.
The first was for him, as he hadn't eaten any of it and had only taken a few glasses of wine and dessert. The second was for his roommate, Kelly, as a souvenir.
The chef assured Felix that he didn't need to bother carrying it himself and that they would have it sent to his room, and so Felix thanked them and left to head back to his motel room to be certain he wasn't forgetting anything.
The City had prepared a parade for their send-off, and the Sages had to walk all the way to the city gates where their ship was waiting. This time Lucy and Athenae had come out, but not Aaron.
On their way, a little girl had stumbled onto the road with her flowers, bruising her knees before Lucy. Lucy quickly helped her up, cast a minor healing spell on the bruises, then cast a major healing spell on the little girl's whole body to rid it of any lingering illnesses or sickness the girl might have. Her mother had also run up to apologize, then thanked Lucy for her benevolence, gifting her a basket of assorted fruits.
Felix could only roll his eyes at this, as he found the scene very cliché.
The Sages finally boarded their ship and stood at the deck waving at the crowd that had come out to see them off and were cheering them on, as the ship took sail and soared into the sky.
The people of Lumengarde were left thinking they might have lost their king in the battle, but they gained something greater—pfft!
Felix was the first to ditch the rest of the Sages for his room on the big ship. If it were when he was back on Earth, he would have pulled his smartphone to start doom-scrolling or playing games. But here in Vastoria, phones didn't work—at least not the electronic ones—which was a nightmare for Sages.
But Felix was free from that shackle now, as a Champion, with his class system updated. He swiftly pulled up his class system tab and went for the [Forums] and after scrolling for a bit, he switched to the video feed section and began watching the live stream of a random Champion raiding a dungeon with what looked to be a random party of fellow Champions.
They were flanking a minotaur boss monster, but their coordination was terrible.
The leader of the party, and streamer—FishyMitchy—kept shouting orders at the party members. But they seemed to fall on deaf ears as they all tried to get a hit on the minotaur, as if they were racing for the highest hit count, watching the boss's health drop slowly but steadily.
FishyMitchy was serving as the tank with a shield and a shiny longsword, and was naturally dealing the highest damage. It was obvious his party members didn't trust him and wanted to all get the highest rewards from killing the minotaur.
This made Felix chuckle, as it reminded him of Aaron.
Under the uncoordinated barrage of attacks, the minotaur's health finally dropped below 10% and it went into rage mode with its eyes glowing an eerie red and it angrily roared at the party of five.
The party seemed to have been affected by a stun or fear debuff as they all froze. The minotaur took that split second they were stunned to raise its double-headed axe at the assassin-build Champion standing way too close to the boss for his class type, and powerfully brought it down on his head.
The assassin could only watch in horror as he was cleanly split in two by the axe.
"Oh, shit!"
