Chapter 37: Champions
Felix was back in his motel room, laying on the bed and doom-scrolling through the new section of his class system: [Forum]:

Topic: Rant: My luck stat is a lie
Posted by: Lucky_Liar
What is the point of a high luck stat if you still find trash-tier gear from epic-level bosses? I just got a green-rarity chest piece from a dungeon raid with a "Divine" rating. This system is a joke. Tell me I'm not the only one.

Felix wasn't surprised anymore, as everything he had learned from Lilith earlier came as a shock after shock. He just couldn't be any more surprised.
It turns out, in the grand scheme of things, Champions were at the pinnacle of power in the worlds, operating from the shadows. They were all once Sages in their worlds until they were elevated in power and status after being chosen as a Champion by a Primordial—just like Felix.
Upon being chosen, the Champions were given a 'lobby' of which they could access the portal to move between worlds 'on the map' and back. These lobbies were similar to Felix's [Absolute Domain] skill, except Felix's was maxed out, according to Lilith.
The hell hole didn't look 'maxed out' to Felix, and he knew it wasn't even supposed to be a lobby in the first place. But because his primordial wasn't in the picture and there were no funds, Lilith had only been improvising as the representative of the Witch Master.
As for the Witch Master himself, he was dead.
He succumbed to his grave injuries after the Great War against Goddess Zemira's 'Faction of Light,' but before he died, a peace treaty had been signed and the no-war pact had been made. After he died, the Dark Lord, commander of the dark faction's army and then best friend of the Witch Master, decided to step up in power and take the mantle of authority over the Dark Faction.
His advances were rejected by the other Generals, who had faith that the Witch Master would return. The Dark Lord then took it to the extreme by crowning himself and wiping out all those who refused to bow, using the power of the dark faction army. Some of the generals had fled, just like Lilith, except she decided not to flee alone but to take the body of the Witch Master with her, making her the most wanted being by the Dark Faction. She had a bounty that should set Felix's family up for life if he just turned her in.
And so, the peace treaty was broken, with the Dark Faction—now led by the Dark Lord—waging war once more on the Light Faction by invading their worlds with their army of dark creatures.
So Felix's top priority as the Witch Master's Champion, chosen by Lilith on behalf of the Witch Master—which explains why he was a fucking woman now, as she was also responsible for his class system—was to avenge 'their' master by destroying the Dark Lord—a Primordial, that is.
This made Felix wonder if that was what the Witch Master would actually want if he were alive, as he just didn't understand why his best friend would betray him for his crown. There was definitely something else to the story. Either she—Lilith—wasn't telling him everything, or she was just acting based on her perspective.
Felix rubbed his forehead as it began to ache—again—recounting the grand history of the multiverse that he wasn't so sure the Sage Council knew the full story of.
Just as Lilith had made Felix a Champion, Primordials from the dark faction also had Champions, as did the Light Faction and, well, the Neutral Faction. But they didn't have worlds to their names or had a 'fucked up' one like an apocalyptic one, which Felix thought was… kind of cool?
In other words, Champions were basically players of the worlds and the primordials were the game masters and spectators.
Felix's class system now had not only a new forum section where all champions came together to rant, recruit, or drop guides, but also had a streaming feature where Felix could decide to go premium live for only primordial viewers, or all live for other Champions to view as well, and could receive gifts and endorsement fees from there.
He realized he had been on premium live the moment his class system had been upgraded from Sage to Champion, and his viewers had just been Primordials who were doom-scrolling and stumbled upon his video—all except for Goddess Zemira, who had her eyes on him from the start.
And regarding their strange reactions to him, it was because they had spotted Lilith—a legend in her time who disappeared and was thought to be dead, now back after a millennium, and spotted with a Champion.
And though Lilith had turned off his live stream as soon as it came up, words were already flying amongst the Primordials that the Queen of Death was back and with a Champion. It was only a matter of time now before the Dark Lord got wind of it and jumped on his stream as well to figure out where she was hiding.
In other words, Felix's dreams of adventure had just taken a wild spin on the genre.
