Chapter 250: The Frenzied An Qi
When she realized the massive sea serpent lay motionless on the ground, she finally calmed down.
However, she didn't know whether the sea serpent was really dead or just faking it, so she carefully made her way back while calling out loudly, "Yifan! Is the giant sea serpent dead?"
"Dead!" Lin Yifan shouted back in response.
He was sitting right in front of the sea serpent, leaning against a big tree to catch his breath; he was therefore very certain the serpent was dead.
Reassured by his answer, An Qi let her guard down and quickly ran over.
Arriving beside Lin Yifan, and seeing the closed eyes and lifeless body of the massive sea serpent, she still felt a lingering fear; the terrifying scene of it attacking her played over and over in her mind, vivid as ever, and she couldn't help but feel afraid.
"Yifan! How can there be such a huge sea serpent?" An Qi couldn't help but ask curiously.
The events of the evening had truly broadened her horizons; moreover, they were beyond her comprehension, outside her understanding.
"Pfft!"
Lin Yifan didn't answer her question, but instead, couldn't contain his laughter.
"Why are you laughing?" An Qi demanded, slightly annoyed.
"You've almost turned into an African, don't you know?" Lin Yifan laughed harder, responding with a question of his own.
An Qi's face was as black as charcoal, which he was seeing for the first time, and he found it quite funny; except for her eyes and teeth, he couldn't see anything else, as if a pair of eyes and two rows of teeth were suspended in the air, which was quite eerie.
An Qi quickly checked and found that her clothes were indeed a bit dirty, but not to the extent of an African's complexion, so she asked, "Don't I look fine? Why have I become an African in your eyes?"
"Have you looked at yourself? You're as black as charcoal," Lin Yifan replied with suppressed laughter.
Only then did An Qi realize the situation; she quickly touched her face, then looked at her hand and was shocked, "Ah!!! Why am I so dirty?"
Immediately, she became frantic and hurried over to wipe her face furiously with Lin Yifan's clothes. She cared about her appearance and couldn't let herself look so unsightly.
Lin Yifan let An Qi wipe her face, since his clothes were already dirty, he didn't mind them getting a bit dirtier.
After a while, seeing An Qi still frantically rubbing, he tried to soothe her, "Enough! Enough! Stop wiping! In my eyes, no matter how dirty or dark you are, you're always the most beautiful."
"Sweet talker! I don't believe a word of that nonsense; if I became ugly, you'd certainly dump me," An Qi ignored Lin Yifan's reassurances and continued to clean her face until it was spotless.
"Looks are secondary, what's most important is the heart; if I can't get over that, even if you're beautiful, I won't like you; so..."
Lin Yifan was about to continue when An Qi interrupted him.
"So looks are still very important, after all, they're second place, aren't they?"
"..." Lin Yifan was left speechless, as it indeed seemed to be the case.
More than ten minutes later, An Qi finally stopped scrubbing; at that point, she asked anxiously and nervously, "How about now? Is my face still black?"
"No, it's not! You're extremely beautiful," Lin Yifan replied.
"Really? Don't lie to me!" An Qi was a bit skeptical.
"Why would I lie to you? Do you want me to pee in my hand so you can see your reflection?" Lin Yifan asked with a mischievous smile.
"You awful jerk, always coming up with such disgusting ideas." After saying that, An Qi raised her little fist and then threw a punch.
At that moment, aided by the distant firelight, Lin Yifan vaguely saw that there were many wounds on An Qi's little fist. So he grabbed An Qi's fist, and asked with concern and sorrow, "Why are you hurt like this?"
"It's because of you, big bully, making me add wood to the fire, that my hands got injured by the sharp dead branches," An Qi complained.
"I'm sorry! I didn't know it would be like this, forgive me." Lin Yifan sincerely apologized.
Just now, An Qi had indeed put in a lot of effort; without her, he, alone, might have had a very hard time dealing with those tens of thousands of sea snakes.
"I don't want your sorry, what I want is for you to cherish me in your hands from now on." An Qi responded.
"Alright! I promise to cherish you in my hands from now on," Lin Yifan vowed earnestly.
Seeing An Qi's hands full of wounds, he truly felt heartache.
"Really?" An Qi felt a nameless emotion stir within her, this was the answer she wanted.
"Really!" Lin Yifan affirmed resolutely.
"Then swear it to the heavens!" An Qi instructed, still not reassured.
Without any hesitation, Lin Yifan immediately raised two fingers and yelled to the sky, "I, Lin Yifan, swear to the heavens that from now on I will definitely cherish and protect An Qi, my precious, in the palm of my hand for a lifetime; if I fail to do so, may I be struck by lightning and meet a terrible end!"
Hearing this oath, An Qi felt warmth in her heart and extremely touched; she then threw herself into Lin Yifan's arms and hugged him tightly, "Thank you, Yifan! With your words, even if it's tiring or painful, it doesn't matter."
"It's good to have you!" Lin Yifan simply said these four words, but they contained a lot; he then embraced An Qi, the beauty in his arms, tightly, enjoying her tender warmth like water.
After hugging for a while, An Qi's emotional heart gradually calmed down, and so she brought up the question that had been on her mind, "Yifan, you haven't answered me why there were so many huge sea snakes?"
Regaining his composure, Lin Yifan slowly answered, "These sea snakes were probably raised by some powerful psychic; otherwise, they could not have such thick bodies and strong power."
He did not tell An Qi about Cultivation, to prevent her from collapsing.
"Powerful psychic? How powerful could they be? They're not on Lonely Island too, are they?" An Qi finished and instinctively looked around, her nerves taut with fear.
"They shouldn't be on Lonely Island, otherwise they would have come out and dealt with us already," Lin Yifan replied.
"Then let's hurry and go! If we're discovered, we'll be in trouble," An Qi urged.
"Go? Where to? On Lonely Island, unless a fishing boat passes by, it's very hard for us to escape," Lin Yifan responded.
"What do we do now then?" An Qi continued to ask fearfully.
"Well, in for a penny, in for a pound, let's get the treasure from the cave first, then take it step by step and let things happen naturally," Lin Yifan answered.
After putting so much effort and strength into killing this brood of sea snakes, he certainly could not leave empty-handed.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" An Qi asked.
"What else?" Lin Yifan countered.
"Alright! If you're not afraid to die, then I'll accompany you all the way down the line." An Qi made up her mind; now, she was all in too.
