Chapter 155 Don't Stop?
She knew just how painful that slap was, so the beauty-loving and vanity-prone her definitely did not want to experience it a second time.
"So is it 'don't, stop' or 'don't stop;' or 'don't stop'?" Lin Yifan asked.
"Don't stop!" The wife of the Finance Department Manager was so confused she couldn't tell one from the other.
"Then it means to continue hitting, huh!" Having said that, Lin Yifan was about to strike again; however, he was stopped by another shout.
"No!"
"So, is it 'stop,' or 'don't'? Or is it 'don't stop'?" Lin Yifan asked again.
"Don't, stop!" The wife of the Finance Department Manager stated what she meant just a moment ago.
"Don't stop?" Lin Yifan asked doubtfully.
"Mhm!" The wife of the Finance Department Manager nodded in response.
"Slap!"
The next moment, a slap suddenly came down.
"Whimper!!! I told you not to hit, why did you still hit?" The wife of the Finance Department Manager cried in pain, covering both cheeks, feeling incredibly wronged.
"Isn't it 'don't stop'?" Lin Yifan asked with a puzzled face.
"It's not 'don't stop'! It's 'don't, stop'!" The wife of the Finance Department Manager explained angrily.
"Hey! Regardless of whether it's 'don't stop' or 'do stop,' I'm going to ask you one more time, are you still feeling smug, still arrogant?" Lin Yifan didn't want to entangle with this woman over wording anymore and directly questioned.
"Not smug, not arrogant anymore!" The wife of the Finance Department Manager meekly answered.
Having been slapped twice, how would she dare to be arrogant again?
"Alright then! Since that's the case, let's get straight to the point and clear things up," Lin Yifan said. "I believe you are also aware that your husband has embezzled a lot of money from my company. I'm not asking for much, just that he coughs up the embezzled funds. Otherwise, I won't let this go easily today."
"Wait a moment, let me go discuss it with him." Having said that, the wife of the Finance Department Manager went to her husband, who was lying on the ground and severely injured, to discuss a plan of action.
They definitely wouldn't return all of the embezzled money, so they needed to come up with a suitable and not too excessive amount.
After discussing for about a minute, the wife of the Finance Department Manager came back to Lin Yifan and said, "My husband has embezzled thirty million. He agrees to return the money to the company."
"Thirty million? Do you think I'm a fool? The accounting firm has calculated that over fifty million has been embezzled. Where did the remaining twenty million go?" Lin Yifan questioned.
Trying to fool him was not going to be that simple.
The wife of the Finance Department Manager had miscalculated, not expecting Lin Yifan to know the sum that was embezzled; so she ran back to consult with her husband again, and finally came back with an answer, "The remaining twenty million was shared by other employees in the Finance Department."
"Are you sure?" Lin Yifan asked.
This situation wasn't impossible, since it's very hard for one person to cook the books, especially for such large sums; it requires the collaboration of the whole department to do it flawlessly and deceive the boss.
"Yes, that's what my husband said," the wife of the Finance Department Manager nodded in reply.
"Fine! Have your husband gather all the employees of the Finance Department! I want to conduct a thorough investigation to see if it's true," Lin Yifan spoke.
However, what he didn't know was that his words played right into the Finance Department Manager's hands.
"Alright," said the Finance Department Manager's wife, as she left with a barely perceptible sneer.
After signaling in code through the WeChat group, the Finance Department Manager and his wife waited for reinforcements to arrive.
Half an hour later, a group of people arrived as planned, they had purchased tools for the operation, ready to kill Lin Yifan.
"Knock, knock! Knock, knock!"
The knocking at the door signaled the arrival of the Finance Department's staff.
At that moment, the Finance Department Manager's wife hurried to answer the door; while Yifan sat on the sofa, waiting for this rabble to enter.
Because he was sitting with his back to the door, he had no idea what was happening at the entrance.
At this time, the Finance Department Manager's wife exchanged glances with those who had arrived, and then let them in.
The group silently made their way upstairs carrying burlap sacks and ropes; as they approached the sofa where Yifan was sitting, they suddenly rushed him, working in coordination. The one with the sack tried to throw it over Yifan; another rushed to tie him with the rope; and the others were responsible for holding Yifan down to prevent any resistance.
Everything had seemed perfect in theory, only they had encountered the wrong person,
Before the sack could even cover him, Yifan threw the person holding it from behind the sofa to the front.
Confronted by a group of burly men charging at him, he forcefully struggled free, tossing them off; the man with the rope couldn't bind Yifan, because he wasn't as strong.
If one tactic didn't work, they tried another.
This rabble immediately pulled out hammers and viciously aimed for Yifan's head.
"Damn! That's ruthless! Lucky I'm not Zhao Ritian; otherwise, I'd have no clue how I even died," Yifan exclaimed in shock; he hadn't expected the Finance Department's male employees to be this cold-blooded and ruthless.
Amid the dire situation, without a second thought, he kicked away the man closest to him, then seized a hammer with one hand; what followed was a massacre.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
After hammering fiercely, Yifan had all the attackers lying on the ground; then he went after each one, crippling them, letting these ruthless people learn the taste of pain.
Having dealt with the mob, Yifan then turned to the Finance Department Manager, and crippled him as well with the hammer.
He simply couldn't let go of the mastermind behind this scheme easily; otherwise, his hatred would not be appeased.
"You! Over here!" said Yifan, holding the blood-stained hammer, pointing at the Finance Department Manager's wife by the entrance.
The Finance Department Manager's wife didn't run not because she didn't want to, but because she couldn't; when she tried to escape earlier, Yifan had thrown a hammer at her, nearly hitting her head, so she dared not attempt escape again.
Upon being called by Yifan, she came over trembling with terror, then fell to her knees with a thud and pleaded, "Sir! I didn't come up with the plan, it really wasn't me, please don't cripple me!"
As the saying goes, when disaster strikes, every man is for himself. The once united birds scatter in the face of danger, so unable to withstand the test. The Finance Department Manager's wife shifted the blame beautifully, disregarding the safety of her husband who was now only half-alive. If Yifan were to take out his anger on her husband, he would have to say his goodbyes to this world.
"An accomplice is as guilty as the perpetrator," Yifan said coldly; unfazed by her begging and blame-shifting.
Hearing those words, the Finance Department Manager's wife was nearly scared out of her wits; if she were to receive the same punishment as the men, she doubted she could handle it.
But the next words from Yifan brought some relief to her despairing heart.
