Chapter 1149: Whereabouts Discovered
The mining employees poured all their grievances on Lin Yifan, blaming him in various ways.
The next morning, the Mu Family's mine began bustling with activity.
A dozen excavators worked simultaneously, roaring like thunder.
Many local residents of Tiemuer Town did not know what was happening at the Mu Family mine; they had never heard such loud machinery noise before.
Moreover, they saw more excavators coming from other places, heading straight to the Mu Family mine, apparently joining the work.
"What is the Mu Family trying to do?"
"With so many excavators, do they want to dig up the entire mine overnight?"
"Were they influenced or struck by something?"
"Could it be that a great treasure is buried in the mine?"
Local residents of Tiemuer Town speculated various questions out of curiosity because the Mu Family's actions were indeed peculiar.
On the other hand, as numerous excavators began working, the Mu Family quickly obtained a large amount of ore.
They split open each piece of mined ore to see if they found anything.
After cracking hundreds of them, they found nothing special—all were ordinary stones, jade, and jadeite.
However, they did not lose heart and continued digging and splitting.
Just like that, after a day, they found nothing, not achieving the results they had hoped for.
"Could it be that that kid only cares about jade?" The Mu Family's leader speculated, but quickly dismissed this thought.
If it was just for a piece of jade, Lin Yifan wouldn't have caused such a commotion or injured his fourth brother, as jade is quite commonplace.
Thus, he decided to continue the excavation for a few more days, hoping for a surprising discovery.
In Xikaierhan Town, Lin Yifan got up early and tasted the local delicacies.
He bought a few roasted buns and ordered a bowl of lamb offal soup, starting to eat crunchily.
While eating, he saw a few men with local skin color pasting notices in alleys and streets.
Curious, he glanced over and found that the person on the notice was him, which immediately left him stunned.
He walked over and observed in secret, discovering it was the Mu Family's bounty on him.
What happened yesterday had already reached here today; it seems that driven by money, things indeed become more efficient.
Lin Yifan wasn't afraid of trouble, but chose to be discreet to keep his affairs unknown.
He began to disguise himself, trying not to reveal his appearance in public.
The vendor selling roasted buns glanced at the notice on the wall beside him and realized that the person being hunted by the bounty, he had just seen; and right there at breakfast.
When he looked at the dining table, he found it was already empty.
He felt he missed out big, as if he'd lost a golden business opportunity.
Indeed, the bounty was as high as one million, which was more than what he could earn in ten years, or even a lifetime as a vendor. And the bounty only required him to provide the whereabouts of the wanted person, not capture them himself, so it was such an easy task, yet he missed it. How could he not be upset?
Regardless, he had just seen Lin Yifan, so even if he already left, he could provide a clue. Therefore, he went to stop the youths posting the notices, telling them that Lin Yifan had appeared here, hoping to claim some reward.
The youths posting notices were stopped by a roasted bun vendor. They showed a fierce look, impatiently asking, "What do you want?"
"I've seen the person on the notice!" the roasted bun vendor whispered.
Upon hearing this, the youths immediately perked up, asking, "Really?"
If so, they wouldn't need to post more notices and could receive a substantial reward.
"Really!" the vendor replied, "He ate breakfast at my stall a few minutes ago, now seems to have left."
"Which way did he go?" the youths pursued.
"I don't know," the vendor replied.
There were too many customers buying roasted buns, so he was busy baking them and didn't notice Lin Yifan leave.
"Can you swear you're telling the truth?"
These youths felt the vendor might be driven by greed and concoct some story hoping to get a reward.
"I swear, the street surveillance cameras can prove it," the vendor replied seriously.
While his stall didn't have cameras, the surrounding stores did. Lin Yifan had come to buy roasted buns from him, and had to pass that street, so he would surely be captured by the store cameras unless there were no cameras or all cameras had stopped working.
But this hypothesis was unlikely because he had worked there for many years and knew the street layout well.
The street had more than ten cameras, plus a bank, so it was unlikely that Lin Yifan's image was not captured.
Seeing the vendor's confident evidence, the youths decided to believe him.
They went to nearby shops to retrieve surveillance footage and indeed found Lin Yifan.
They hurriedly paid the vendor a few thousand yuan before passing the news to the Mu Family, preparing to claim a larger reward.
Though he didn't get a million, the vendor felt a bit disappointed, but he was content with the money, equivalent to a month's salary.
Making a month's wage from a sentence was quite lucrative.
If the youths posting notices had caught Lin Yifan on the spot, he might have gotten that million reward.
"Ah! Just a little short! That million slipped right by," he regretted, with his heart suddenly sinking.
Nearby in Xikaierhan Town, news of Lin Yifan reached the Mu Family's leader, who rushed there intending to make Lin Yifan pay.
He instructed the youths posting notices to secretly trace Lin Yifan's whereabouts and activities.
The youths followed the leader's orders, continuously tracking Lin Yifan through the cameras.
However, their foolish actions had long been noticed by the counter-surveillance adept Lin Yifan; thus, Lin Yifan had already left Xikaierhan Town.
Twenty minutes later, the Mu Family leader arrived in Xikaierhan Town.
When he asked the youths about Lin Yifan's whereabouts, he was directed to a rental room with no trace of Lin Yifan.
He was furious, not blaming the youths for incompetence but at Lin Yifan's cunningness.
