My Sexy CEO Wife

Chapter 90: Nine Pictures

```
Gao Fei glanced into the cave, but all he saw was darkness; no valuable items were in sight.
With his current strength, his Clairvoyance could perceive things within hundreds of meters, yet now he couldn't make out the end of the cave. What did this imply? It implied that the depth of the cave was beyond several hundred meters.
Gao Fei examined closely and found the cave to be a natural formation with no traces of artificial excavation.
Nature truly held wonders, to create such a deep and secluded cave on the side of a mountain.
After pondering for a moment, Gao Fei stepped into the cave. Having found it, he had to check it out—who knew if he would find a clue to Spirit Stones?
The cave was damp, with droplets hanging from the ceiling and an uneven floor. None of this was important; the most unbearable aspect was the air, which was so pungent it rivaled the stench of a cesspit. In the end, with no other option, Gao Fei had to hold his breath temporarily.
More than ten minutes later, Gao Fei stopped in his tracks as two forks in the road appeared before him: one sloping upwards and the other downwards.
"These two paths..." Gao Fei's brows slowly furrowed: "bear the marks of artificial excavation. This means that these two paths weren't naturally formed but were artificially created." This was the first sign of artificial traces he had come across on his way.
"Interesting."
"The first half is naturally formed, and the latter half is artificially excavated."
"With one path leading up and the other down, they clearly lead to different places. Which one should I choose?"
After pondering for a short while, Gao Fei decided to take the path on the left—the one leading upwards. Just after entering, he was enveloped in a warm sensation, as if bathed in sunlight.
After walking a kilometer, Gao Fei saw some drawings on the stone wall, etched with some sharp tool, very vivid and clear.
The first drawing depicted an old Taoist in a Taoist robe standing on the mountain peak, looking up at the sky with an unfathomable expression.
In the second drawing, the old Taoist still stood atop the peak while a dark cloud suddenly appeared in the sky, with flashes of thunder within.
The third drawing showed the dark cloud splitting apart as countless bolts of lightning descended upon the Taoist.
Seeing this, Gao Fei couldn't help but tense up. What was the background of this old Taoist, and why would he attract the thunder?
In the fourth drawing, innumerable bolts of lightning surrounded the Taoist. Some of them struck the large stones next to him, pulverizing them into dust. Considering these stones were several meters tall, the thunder was incredibly powerful to destroy them with such ease.
The fifth drawing showed the old Taoist breaking out of the lightning circle; his hair and beard singed, his Taoist robe tattered. The frenzied lightning chased after the Taoist, relentless, giving him no chance to escape.
In the sixth drawing, the old Taoist took out several Treasures to ward off the lightning, but they were destroyed by the lightning after a short while, and then the lightning once again enveloped him.
The seventh drawing revealed the dispersal of the thunder cloud, the sky clearing up, and the Taoist lying on the ground, hairless and beardless, with his Taoist robe gone, and his face and body covered in cuts. Although grievously wounded, the Taoist burst out laughing.
In the eighth drawing, a ray of Jin Guang descended from the sky, enveloping the old Taoist. In the blink of an eye, the injuries on his body healed, hair and beard grew back. Initially white, his hair and beard turned black, and the wrinkles on his face diminished significantly, making him look decades younger.
The ninth drawing, a ladder appeared in the Jin Guang, a golden ladder. The old Taoist looked ecstatic as he followed the ladder up into the sky until he vanished from sight.
The series of drawings ended there.
Having seen the nine drawings, Gao Fei's face changed: "These drawings... couldn't be..." An exciting possibility crossed Gao Fei's mind: "Thunder, Treasures, Jin Guang, a ladder to the heavens... This old Taoist is clearly undergoing Tribulation Crossing for Ascension!"
The more Gao Fei thought about it, the more it seemed to be the case.
It couldn't be a mistake.
The nine drawings told the story of an old Taoist's journey through Tribulation Crossing for Ascension—and it seemed he had succeeded.
"So, the old Taoist in the drawings was at the Tribulation Crossing Period Great Perfection stage?" Gao Fei murmured: "I just don't know from which era he was." Many Taoists were recorded in ancient history, all of them powerful individuals, like Qiu Chuji, Zhang Daoling...
"Too bad the drawings can't speak," Gao Fei sighed. "I can only guess wildly."
"Tribulation Crossing Period... when will I be able to cultivate to this Realm?"
"According to the depictions in the drawings... the heavenly tribulation is terrifying. Will I be able to withstand it when the time comes?"
```

"If you withstand it, you can ascend to the Immortal Realm; if you can't withstand it, you will end up incinerated to ashes."

Cultivating immortality is divided into seven realms, namely: Qi Gathering Stage, Inedia Stage, Golden Core Stage, Nascent Soul Stage, Soul Out of Aperture, Unity of Heaven and Man, and Tribulation Crossing.

Once one reaches the Tribulation Crossing Great Perfection, the heavenly tribulation will arrive. If you can cross the heavenly tribulation, you will be able to ascend to the Immortal Realm and become an immortal; if you fail to cross it, there is only a dead end.

Therefore, the path of cultivation is full of risks and unknowns. One careless slip can cost you your life, and only those who eventually ascend to the Immortal Realm are ones blessed with great fortune and great abilities.

In the pursuit of immortality, talent and opportunity are of utmost importance. Opportunity can also be called fortune, and those who possess fortune are the darlings of heaven; their cultivation speed is very fast, and their achievements are high. Gao Fei is among the cream of the crop, and receiving the Demon God Heritage is a tremendous stroke of fortune.

A long time passed before Gao Fei's emotions calmed down.

He is now at the Second Layer of the Qi Gathering Stage, which is still very far from the Tribulation Crossing Period Great Perfection. It's too early to think about the matter of crossing the tribulation and ascending.

Calming his mind to diligently cultivate is the right thing to do; as for anything else, that can wait until later.

What those who cultivate immortality fear the most is being too ambitious and missing the mark; one must stabilize one's mind in order to achieve something.

Once calm, Gao Fei noticed several doubts. Who made these murals? Was it an old Taoist who had crossed the tribulation? And what was the purpose of creating these nine paintings? Was it to boast, or some other reason?

"Forget it, I won't think about it." Since he couldn't figure it out, he decided not to ponder it further and instead, he continued on his way.

After smoothing out some of the frustration, Gao Fei stepped forward and went on... Moments later, he arrived at the end of the corridor, where a stone gate obstructed his path. Covered in dust and cobwebs, the gate even had cracks in several places.

Gao Fei gently pushed with his hand, and the stone gate slowly opened. "Swoosh!" A dazzling ray of sunlight shot from behind the gate, forcing Gao Fei to squint involuntarily. After the gate fully opened, Gao Fei stepped out.

"Is this the mountain peak?" Gao Fei glanced around, "Huh? This place feels so familiar, like I've seen it somewhere before... Ah, that's right, I saw it in the murals on the stone wall. This mountain peak closely resembles the one in the paintings, so it stands to reason...

that old Taoist must have ascended from here after the tribulation." Gao Fei closed his eyes and sensed the surroundings, "Hmm, the spiritual energy here is indeed denser than in other places."

Why did that old Taoist choose to cross the tribulation here? Was it because this place was secluded, or for some other reason?

The thing about Gao Fei is that he tends to overthink things when he encounters them.

He carefully looked around the top of the mountain but found nothing. It was just a very ordinary mountain peak with nothing but more rocks and a larger area than usual. There were no other distinguishing features.

Once sure that there was nothing special about the place, Gao Fei returned to the passageway and closed the stone gate. The gate's location was well concealed, covered by a pile of rubble and not easily noticeable unless one looked closely. Moreover, when the gate was closed, it blended into the stone wall, appearing from the outside as a smooth wall with no trace of a gate.

Following the path he came by, Gao Fei quickly arrived back at the nine murals. He stopped to look at them once again before continuing on his journey.

A few minutes later, Gao Fei was back at the fork in the road.

After a brief rest, he entered the second passage, which sloped downwards. As he walked, Gao Fei quietly pondered: if the upward path led straight to the mountain summit, then where would this downward path lead?

After walking for over ten minutes, Gao Fei halted because he had come across another set of murals. Again, there were nine paintings, but the content was different.

In the first painting, within a mysterious underground space, a group of men dressed in ancient attire were besieging an ugly monster with a wolf's head and a body covered in golden fur. With just a casual swipe of its claws, several men fell dead, their hearts ripped out, presenting a very ghastly scene.

The second painting showed a few men rushing towards the wolf-headed monster in a self-sacrificing manner; when they got close, their bodies suddenly exploded, and the huge energy generated sent the monster flying.

In the third painting, the wolf-headed monster got up from the ground with blood at the corners of its mouth, its eyes turning a blood-red color as if it was enraged.

The fourth painting depicted the wolf-headed monster in a frenzy, relentlessly hunting down those in ancient attire.

The fifth painting revealed more and more people being killed, their blood nearly covering the entire land.

In the sixth painting, many chose to self-destruct, using the energy from their self-destruction to attack the wolf-headed monster. Under this desperate form of attack, the monster was finally defeated.

The seventh painting showed the wolf-headed monster bound by thick chains while a group of people wielding swords began to hack at the monster wildly. Unexpectedly, the monster's ability to heal itself was formidable. No matter how many wounds appeared on its body, it could heal in the blink of an eye, which was truly miraculous.

The eighth painting depicted a change in strategy as the group decapitated the wolf-headed monster. However, it wasn't long before the monster grew a new head. When they chopped off its arms and legs, new ones regrew the next second. They tried many methods, such as burning with fire, drowning with water, and burying with earth, none of which could kill the monster.

In the ninth painting, the group bound the wolf-headed monster to a stone pillar and then stuck many talisman papers on the pillar. Emitting lights, these talismans formed a net of light that enveloped the monster, presumably intending to trap and starve it to death.
