Chapter 664: All Kneel Down and Apologize
"What did you say?" He Hentian frowned. "Gao Fei incapacitated those soldiers? How did he do it?"
"He shattered their Dantians, and now the soldiers can't cultivate any longer."
"Hisss! That's really ruthless!"
"My lord, you must uphold justice for them!"
"Uphold justice?"
"Teach Gao Fei a harsh lesson! Better yet, kill him."
"I also want to teach him a lesson, but…" He Hentian's face showed hesitation. "Last night, I made a bet with Gao Fei, giving him a month of freedom. Within this month, no matter what he does, I cannot intervene..."
"My lord…" The man in black tried to speak but was interrupted by He Hentian.
He Hentian waved his hand with a grave tone, "Since I've promised Gao Fei, I will see it through!"
"Those soldiers…"
"Just bear with it for now. After a month, I will naturally seek revenge for them."
"But..."
"What? Are you questioning my decision?" He Hentian's expression turned stern.
"No, no, no, I wouldn't dare question you, my lord." The man in black hastily shook his head. "Your word is gold, my lord. Whatever you say goes! I comply with all your decisions!" Though the man in black spoke flatteringly, he actually scorned He Hentian's decision internally. What a big act, with the enemy baring their fangs already, why not eliminate them promptly? Can't he see the principle that delay may bring trouble?
"You'd better not dare." He Hentian snorted lightly. "Now leave. I need to get back to my painting, do not disturb me for anything less than urgent matters."
"Yes, your subordinate takes his leave." The man in black turned and walked out.
"A perfectly good mood, ruined just like that." He Hentian frowned and cursed. "Gao Fei, oh Gao Fei, you really know how to stir up trouble. Make a fuss, go on and create a scene. After all, you only have a month. Once it's up, I'll see how I deal with you." After calming his irritated emotions, He Hentian picked up his brush and resumed painting.
Honestly, He Hentian had never taken Gao Fei seriously. In his eyes, Gao Fei was nothing more than an insignificant ant, one he could crush at any time should he wish to.
…
One thing Gao Fei guessed correctly was that He Hentian was a man of great pride and arrogance. Although somewhat twisted mentally, he cared greatly about his face. Having made a promise, he would certainly keep it!
Gao Fei's public beating of the patrolling soldiers and destruction of their Dantians sent shockwaves through all the citizens. What astonished them even more was that after beating the soldiers, Gao Fei didn't flee and seemed completely unfrightened by Lord He's potential retaliation.
The onlooking citizens quietly cheered him on, while also feeling deeply sorry for Gao Fei.
In Heavenly Water City, Lord He was the sky, he was the earth. Anyone who dared to challenge his authority would find themselves with no place to be buried!
Over the years, many City Lords had come and gone in Heavenly Water City, without exception, they all died at Lord He's hand, and even the City Lord's Mansion was destroyed… Now, there was a New City Lord. On his very first day in office, he clashed with the patrolling soldiers. On paper, these soldiers were under Gao Fei's command, but in reality, they only followed Lord He's orders and never took Gao Fei seriously.
By incapacitating these arrogant soldiers on the street, Gao Fei was virtually slapping Lord He in the face. How could Lord He let this go?
It's over! It's all over!
This City Lord is in for trouble!
Some kind-hearted citizens urged Gao Fei to flee quickly, to leave Heavenly Water City before Lord He arrived, hoping that he might still save his own life. Once Lord He came, it would be too late.
No matter how the citizens pleaded, Gao Fei wouldn't leave. Not only did he stay, but he also found a teahouse, sat down, and started drinking a pot of hot tea.
Infuriating, truly infuriating!
Gao Fei's behavior is akin to seeking death!
Forget it! Forget it!
Since you want to die so badly, we'll leave you be! After all, we tried to warn you, but you just wouldn't listen!
Whether it was the injured soldiers or the citizens gathered around, everyone was convinced that Gao Fei was done for, that he would surely meet a gruesome end today. However, much to their shock...
They waited until nightfall, but Lord He never showed up.
What's going on?
The wounded soldiers were bewildered!
The onlooking citizens were bewildered!
Several hours had passed, so why hadn't Lord He appeared yet?
That's not right, not right at all!
"Great tea!"
Gao Fei sat inside the tea house, exclaiming loudly, "What excellent tea! I didn't expect to find such good tea among the common folk! Good job, good job, truly impressive!" Gao Fei placed his empty teacup down, picked up the teapot, filled his cup to the brim, and as a waft of fragrance arose, he revealed an intoxicated expression, "What amazing tea! This is the best tea I've ever had!"
The sun set, and darkness enveloped the land.
"It's gotten dark!" Gao Fei put his teacup down, stretched his arms wide with a yawn, "Where's He Hentian? Hasn't he arrived yet?" Gao Fei deliberately looked around and asked, "Where is he? Why don't I see him? Hey, do you see He Hentian? Has he come?"
The scene was silent, nobody answered Gao Fei's questions.
"I told you so! He Hentian wouldn't come! But you just wouldn't believe me!" Gao Fei stood up and walked toward the exit. Barely taking a few steps, he stopped and turned around, gesturing to the old man cowering in the corner, "You, come here!"
"Ah?" The old man trembled.
"Come here," Gao Fei called out.
"Is there... somethin' you need..." The old man stammered, trembling as he walked over.
"These soldiers knocked you over, cursed at you, hit you; you must be really angry, right?" Gao Fei asked.
"Angry... No, no, no, I'm not angry." The old man nodded first, then vigorously shook his head.
"Don't be afraid; tell the truth. I've got your back," Gao Fei said, without further ado, grabbing the old man and heading outside. The old man tried to wriggle free but didn't dare, shrinking his neck, looking pitiful. It didn't take long before Gao Fei arrived in front of the soldiers, "You said that He Hentian would come to take revenge for you, right? So why hasn't he arrived yet?"
"Lord He... must be tied up with something... that's why he hasn't come..." A soldier said with little conviction.
"Enough, stop making excuses for yourself," Gao Fei said with impatience, waving his hand, "He Hentian doesn't care about you, which is why he hasn't come!"
"That's not true, Lord He isn't like that..." the soldiers insisted, shaking their heads.
"Listen, if you want to live, kneel on the ground and apologize to this old man," Gao Fei commanded coldly, "Those who don't apologize can report to the Underworld instead."
Under Gao Fei's insistence, the soldiers all knelt on the ground and kowtowed to the old man, apologizing.
"This... this..." The old man was stunned by the sight before him; he couldn't believe that the city patrol soldiers were kowtowing and apologizing to him. Am I dreaming? The old man pinched himself secretly, feeling pain, so it wasn't a dream! It was real! Oh, my God! Is it really like this?
"Come on, now apologize to the other citizens as well!" Gao Fei said, "I'm sure you've also bullied other citizens before!"
