Chapter 27: In War, Deception is Essential
To be honest, Gao Fei had no interest in the shop at all; he was interested in those few stones. If he simply purchased the stones outright, it would definitely raise suspicion and could lead to unnecessary trouble.
To get the stones without anyone noticing, he had only one choice: to take over the shop as well.
After some back-and-forth bargaining, the price dropped to nine million.
"Nine million, and not a penny less!" the man said with firm resolve.
"Alright, let's sign the contract," Gao Fei nodded.
"Just give me a moment; I'll go to my car and get the contract," said the man before he turned and walked out.
Gao Fei's lips curved up slightly, today's deal was a steal! An absolute steal!
About half a minute later, the man came back with two contracts. "Take a look at the contract, and if there's no issue, go ahead and sign," he said while handing over the contract to Gao Fei.
Gao Fei carefully examined it and, after confirming there were no issues, he signed his name and pulled out his phone to transfer the money.
"Ding!"
The man received a bank notification. He checked it, then smiled, "The money is in! From now on, the shop is yours! I've got things to do, so I'll take my leave." The man picked up a copy of the contract and strode away.
"On the surface, it looks like the other party made a profit! But in reality? I made the profit!" Gao Fei grinned.
In business, it's all about clever stratagems. As long as it's not illegal, it's fine to use some tactics. Gao Fei bent down and moved the stones he had his eye on; there were six in total, the largest over a meter tall and the smallest the size of a child's fist.
Through his Clairvoyance, Gao Fei could clearly see that all six stones contained jade, and not just any jade, but top-quality jade.
With the stone-cutting machine in the shop, Gao Fei plugged it in and started cutting the stones himself. He had been observing others cutting stones for a while, so he had learned the skill, though his technique was still a bit raw compared to the veterans.
To avoid disturbances, Gao Fei made sure to close and lock the door.
"Zzzz... Zzzz..."
"Crack... Crack..."
"Pfft..."
The first stone was cut open, revealing a brilliant green.
Gao Fei carefully controlled the cutting machine, meticulously trimming the edges of the stone to extract the entire piece of jade within.
It was of fine quality, with good transparency— an Ice Jade as big as a pool ball, just this piece alone could be worth over ten million.
Gao Fei set the Ice Jade aside and continued with the remaining five stones... It took over three hours to cut them all open: two red jades and three golden thread jades, both types belonging to the upper-mid range of jade, with high values as well.
An Ice Jade, two red jades, and three golden thread jades—today's haul was truly significant.
These six pieces of jade could be valued at least thirty million, and if they were carved and processed, their value would be even higher.
"Today is really a good day," Gao Fei chuckled to himself, "These stones came all the way from Myanmar, the chances of finding jade in them is quite high... It looks like the quality of stones from Myanmar is really good, I must visit Myanmar sometime."
There are many places where raw jade stones are found, but among them, Myanmar is the most famous.
Every year, Myanmar holds a "Jadeite Public Market," where a large quantity of raw jade stones are gathered for sale; the event is grand, and the amount traded each year is astronomical! Every year, numerous jade merchants flock to Myanmar to attend this "Jadeite Public Market." Some make a fortune while others go bankrupt, with luck playing a significant role.
Counting the days, it's just two more months until the "Jadeite Public Market."
Gao Fei went into the bathroom to clean the dust off his hands and body, then took out his phone and called Shen Caidie.
The phone rang twice before it was picked up, and Shen Caidie's pleasant voice came through, "Hello?"
"Ms. Shen, I've got some jade and I'd like to ask for your help with carving and processing," Gao Fei said straightforwardly.
"What type of jade do you have?"
"One Ice Jade, two red jades, and three golden thread jades."
"That many? And they're all upper-mid range jade, where did you get them?"
"Of course from Gambling Stone. I was lucky today and came across some good stones."
"...You really are something! While others struggle to obtain a single piece of upper-mid range jade, you get six at once... I'm really impressed!"
"Where are you now? Shall I bring the jade to you?"
"I'm at the company now,"
"Give me the company's address, and I'll come find you right away!" Gao Fei added, "I might as well take this opportunity to admire your company."
"Sure, come on over," Shen Caidie gave Gao Fei the company's address.
After memorizing the address, Gao Fei ended the call, packed the six pieces of jade into a bag, and then left the store.
...
Half an hour later, Gao Fei arrived at Shen Caidie's company.
In a skyscraper of over fifty floors housing hundreds of companies, Shen Caidie's company was one of them, located on the thirteenth floor. Spanning over five hundred square meters, the space wasn't small, and the décor and layout were meticulously designed.
"Is this place rented?" Gao Fei asked.
"Of course, it's rented," Shen Caidie nodded. "I can't afford to buy a floor here."
"Being able to rent a space here for your company is also a show of strength," Gao Fei said with a smile.
"You do have a way with words," Shen Caidie laughed. "Come on, I'll introduce you to some of the staff. As the company's honorary consultant, you'll have to deal with them sooner or later." While talking, Shen Caidie led Gao Fei toward the employees: "Everyone, put your work aside for a moment, I have an announcement to make!"
When the boss spoke, the employees naturally cooperated. They stopped their work and looked up at Shen Caidie.
"This is our company's newly appointed honorary consultant. Let's welcome him with a round of applause," Shen Caidie said, introducing Gao Fei with a significant gesture.
"Clap clap clap..."
Dozens of employees applauded together, and the applause was quite enthusiastic.
"Why is it so noisy out there?" The door to an office was suddenly opened, and out walked a woman with red hair—she was the company's second president, Ye Xiaohong.
"President Ye, you came out just in time. Let me introduce you—this is Gao Fei, the new honorary consultant I've hired," Shen Caidie introduced Gao Fei to Ye Xiaohong.
"He's the honorary consultant you've hired?" Ye Xiaohong scrutinized Gao Fei with a discerning gaze.
"Hello," Gao Fei nodded to Ye Xiaohong.
"I am not good," Ye Xiaohong snorted coldly. "Mr. Gao, listen well, I absolutely do not agree with you being the company's honorary consultant; this is entirely Shen Caidie's idea! If you know what's good for you, leave quickly and don't get in our way." After saying these words, Ye Xiaohong turned around and went back into her office.
Gao Fei was momentarily stunned, then his face darkened.
The employees, who had been applauding, also looked shocked. What was this? Was there a disagreement between President Ye and President Shen? Were they having a conflict?
"Mr. Gao, please don't be angry. President Ye is in a bad mood today, so she was a bit harsh," Shen Caidie hastily explained. "I will reprimand her severely and have her apologize to you…"
Gao Fei frowned and said nothing.
"Mr. Gao, let's talk in the office," Shen Caidie suggested, as it was inconvenient to speak before the employees.
Gao Fei nodded and followed Shen Caidie into a very luxuriously decorated office.
"Mr. Gao, about what happened today… I'm truly sorry. I didn't expect Ye Xiaohong to… make such a fuss. I will definitely criticize her later and make her apologize…," Shen Caidie said with a guilty expression.
"I can tell, that Ye... the president seems to have a strong dislike for me, doesn't she?" Gao Fei said in a deep voice.
"Ye Xiaohong's issue is not with you, but with me," Shen Caidie sighed. "Do you remember a few days ago when we were signing the agreement in the coffee shop, and I received a phone call? A call from a super-rich second generation?"
Gao Fei nodded, indicating he remembered.
"The super-rich second generation's surname is Wang, full name Wang Wei. I met him at a business gathering, and since then, Wang Wei has been pestering me. No matter how I reject him, he doesn't give up," Shen Caidie said with a wry smile.
"Later on, Wang Wei resorted to buying off Ye Xiaohong to help him pursue me… We've argued several times over this, and gradually, our relationship has soured…" Shen Caidie paused for a moment: "A few days ago, Ye Xiaohong brought this up again, urging me to marry Wang Wei, which I flatly refused.
We had a fierce argument, and afterward, when I suggested hiring you as the company's honorary consultant, Ye Xiaohong refused to agree no matter what, deliberately targeting me! Eventually, I had no choice but to push through your recruitment by force."
"Push through by force?" Gao Fei raised an eyebrow.
"Although the company was co-founded by Ye Xiaohong and me, I own a slightly larger share of the stock," Shen Caidie explained. "In case of urgent matters, I have the authority to make decisions alone."
"Oh, I see," Gao Fei nodded.
"Mr. Gao, you really don't need to take Ye Xiaohong's attitude to heart. She has no power over you, and if there's anything you need, just come directly to me," Shen Caidie said. "With me here, Ye Xiaohong wouldn't dare to make trouble, and besides, you won't need to come to work regularly, so you'll seldom see her."
"Starting a company in partnership is indeed troublesome," Gao Fei commented indifferently. "Conflicts can easily arise."
"Indeed," Shen Caidie nodded with feeling. "If I could choose again, I definitely wouldn't go into business with a partner." When Shen Caidie and Ye Xiaohong started the company, they hadn't thought so much about these issues. By the time disagreements arose, it was too late.
To maintain the normal operation of the company, Shen Caidie had to endure, trying to keep a good relationship with Ye Xiaohong.
