Chapter 77: Nuclear Dragon Sword
Yes, Vahn recognized the voice. It was the voice of the same enraged man whose life Lilith had taken away right after Vahn's initial departure.
This was not good news. Vahn quickly surmised that this was likely why Lilith had temporarily disappeared; so that this powerful individual couldn't detect her presence within the Infernal Clan estate.
It wasn't cowardice; she was trying to save Vahn by removing her spiritual signature.
Realizing this, Vahn's heart calmed down. He instantly began to play his role as the humble, newly reformed Damien.
He cupped his fists in respect before speaking, "Holy Son, it's truly a great blessing for my humble clan to have your Divine presence. Please, treat this as your own home."
Veerion's eyes nodded approvingly. "You're quite humble and courteous. But I heard you were an arrogant and prideful man in the past." He seemed suspicious. "What's the reason for your sudden change? Care to elaborate?"
Vahn maintaining his earnest demeanor, delivered the carefully crafted lie that explained his transformation:
"It's because of My Master." Vahn's tone became emotional. "After I was cast aside from White Lotus, I met him in a fortuitous encounter in a quiet cave, sitting like an immortal."
"He had eyes of wisdom and the kindness of eternity. He took me as a disciple, even though I hadn't a single exceptional talent at all. But he recognized my true talent: It's my Unyielding Dao Heart to become the strongest. He taught me many things. Patience, Discipline, and Strategies are just one part. He is a great man."
Veerion slightly narrowed his eyes, but found no obvious falsehood in statement.
But still, something felt off. "This Master of You're talking, is he female by any chance?" Veerion pressed on, his tone sharper.
Vahn's heart skipped a beat at the direct question, but he maintained the calm façade.
"No, Your Excellency. Like I said, He... He is a straight old man."
"Can I meet him?" Veerion asked, pushing the limit.
Vahn shook his head regretfully.
"Unfortunately not. My master is in secluded cultivation. After giving me his guidance, he instructed me to face the Mortal World by myself to temper my will and experience."
Veerion was clearly unsatisfied but had no solid grounds to press the issue further without losing face.
Instead, he quickly changed his tone to an apologetic one, realizing he might have misjudged the situation.
"You see, Damien Infernos, I am originally here in the city to find the Heretic: Vahn Necrotis and the Witch since they were last seen here.
But then your rapid progress and achievements caught my ears. That's why I am a little suspicious of you. I wanted if you're connected to them someway."
The elders jaw nearly dropped onto the floor. If that really happens, their whole Clan might be wiped from the world.
Their temples were already covered in cold sweat, waiting for Damien's firm denial.
But, Vahn didn't make any exaggerated reaction. He just smiled lightly, as if he found the accusation ridiculous.
He instantly raised his left hand toward Veerion and blazed it with scorching red Fire Qi. The aura was potent, aggressive, and undeniably Fire Affinity.
"Do you need more proof, Your Excellency?" Vahn challenged, letting the flame dance in his palm.
Veerion was momentarily stunned. From what he had heard, the heretic Vahn Necrotis only possessed the Light Affinity. Fire affinity was not something that could be awakened, then mastered at such proficiency in such a little time. The proof was right there.
Veerion's suspicions eased significantly.
Vahn seized the opportunity to solidify his narrative and hatred.
"Anyway, that heretic is the reason I failed at the Holy Ascension Stairway. I am definitely going to get revenge for that," Vahn replied, seething with genuine-sounding hatred.
"If that's the case, I shall sincerely wait for you to arrive at White Lotus Sanctuary, Damien Infernos."
Veerion stood up, intending to leave.
The elders and the Patriarch also stood to see him off with respect. Though they were older than the Holy Son, the other party was stronger and more influential, his status comparable to that of an envoy of the Holy Emperor itself.
Vahn watched the exchange with an impassive face.
After the Holy Son's departure, the Patriarch and elders were completely convinced of Damien's sincerity and power.
Vahn then went directly to his room, fully expecting to be alone, but he found Lilith already there, sitting on his bed and waiting for him.
Her expression was grave. She immediately explained her disappearance. "I saw him, Vahn. Veerion. He is incredibly powerful, and his purpose here was to catch my traces. I couldn't risk him detecting my core presence. It wasn't... not that I am a coward, but I had to disappear for your safety."
Vahn listened, understanding the extreme risk she had taken. The cold reality of being hunted by the highest powers hit him hard.
He walked over and made a bold move. He hugged her supple body warmly, expressing his gratitude for her protective consideration.
He said gently beside her ears, "Lilith, I know. You're the one who is protecting me, but I promise. One day, I will protect you even if it means going against the World."
The unexpected warmth and fierce vow of loyalty broke through Lilith's cold exterior. She shed tears, moved by the selfless emotion she had never once felt in her long, solitary life.
Emotional Connection: 51%(↑21%)

Their Physical and Mental Connection increased exponentially through this profound emotional bond. The spiritual surge triggered an immediate system response:
[ Rewards Gained: Darkness Affinity +100%, and Nuclear Dragon Sword (Heaven), Invincible Dao Heart ]
The second reward sounded too powerful.
As he looked into System Log, the Heaven Grade Greatsword made of black dragon's bones, named the Nuclear Dragon Sword manifested onto his eyes in its full glory.
This magnificent weapon was capable of applying his power by 5 times, and its destructive capabilities were immense.
Vahn didn't have any experience wielding a Great Sword. But after examining this monstrous weapon, he was very much willing to learn.
But time was at the essence.
Nevertheless, with this Heaven Grade Greatsword now in his arsenal, Vahn was completely ready to dominate the Seven Saintesses Competition.
