Chapter 153: A Day in the Dynasty
Vaylin's lips curved into a faint smile as she looked into his little brother's family.
Her piercing eyes also judged their worth.
"Little brother, it seems your wives are not some pretty flowers. They have been blessed by Primodial Elements. I approve of this relatiship. You two can call me Sister-In-Law. No need to shy away."
"Sister-In-Law?" Seraphina stammered, still stunned by the unexpected relationship.
"Yes." Vaylin gave a curt nod, her imposing persona returning. She addressed Seraphina directly, the empathy she felt battling her millennia of cold experience.
"But You two should know something. Your husband is walking a blade's edge. That little breakthrough he just forced? It accelerated the timetable." Vaylin pointed to Vahn's chest. "The seed of the Void Dragon God inside him is growing faster. When it fully matures, it will possess his body and wipe out this entire planet to sustain itself."
She paused, letting the truth sink in.
"I am here to take him back to the Nether Realm, where we have the methods to either suppress or safely integrate the Void Dragon's essence. It is the only way to save him, and save your world."
Seraphina's face paled, grasping the impossible weight of the situation. Lilith's hands clenched, fury battling terror.
"And what is the price of this 'cure,' Sister-In-Law?" Lilith challenged, stepping forward. "What does your family demand for saving him?"
Vaylin met Lilith's aggressive gaze evenly.
"The price is simple, Lilith. Vahn must return to the Necrotis Clan, take his rightful place, and train to control the essence. His time on this planet is over. He cannot be a King here anymore. His destiny is in the stars, not in these small ruins."
Vahn squeezed Seraphina's hand, his gaze meeting hers with a look of determination, not surrender.
"Don't listen to her. I just told her I need time to think," Vahn explained to his wives, his voice firm. "I will not leave you, or this Dynasty, without a concrete plan to ensure your absolute safety and freedom. Tell me, Vaylin, what guarantees can you give me regarding the security of my wives and daughter if I return with you?"
Vaylin smirked confidently, unconcerned by the scale of the threat Vahn's family represented. She had cosmic connections.
"Don't worry, little brother. I will call someone for help. They'll act as their guardian while you're away," Vaylin assured him, her tone dismissing the entire planet's threat level. "And trust me, that person is far more powerful than you are now."
She had answered his immediate concern, freeing Vahn from the need to choose between survival and family. Vahn, though skeptical of her arrogance, noted the sincerity in her promise of protection. He needed to trust her, if only for a few days.
While Vaylin awaited the arrival of her mysterious guardian, she decided to spend time with Vahn's family. To the surprise of Lilith and Seraphina, she was surprisingly warm and easygoing, shedding the predatory aura for a moment. She seemed genuinely fascinated by the dynamics of Vahn's unconventional household.
The three women and Eterna decided to visit the City's newly formed marketplace together. They traveled in the opulent Royal Carriage, and citizens cast them reverent, adoring gazes as they saw the Royal Crest pass.
"Your people respect you, Vahn," Vaylin muttered to himself, observing the perfect order and the devotion of the crowd. "That's a rare commodity in the Nether Realm."
To wander freely, they stopped outside the market district and took on ordinary clothes—simple, high-quality linen robes that masked their incredible cultivation levels.
Still, their innate beauty and powerful auras—even Seraphina's suppressed Holy Light and Lilith's contained Shadow—attracted a fair share of attention.
"Aunt Vaylin, look at the colors! We don't have these colors in the palace!" Eterna chirped, utterly delighted by the sensory overload of the bustling market, holding Vaylin's hand tightly.
"Do you like them, Eterna?" Vaylin asked, a genuine softness in her voice that contrasted sharply with her edgy attire.
"You know, your grandmother used to love these chaotic, colorful markets, too."
"Aunt, can I have that sweet?" Eterna called her Aunt freely, pointing a small finger at a stall overflowing with vibrant, local candied fruits. "And that toy dragon, Papa said he would get it for me!"
"Of course, sweetling. Anything you want," Vaylin replied, smiling affectionately at her niece.
Vahn wasn't present, and Vaylin realized she didn't have any currency of this World—no gold, no spiritual coins, nothing that held value on this particular planet.
Without a second thought, she reached into her sleek leather pouch and casually took out a wrist guard. It was simple in appearance but radiated a frighteningly dense energy signature.
"Excuse me, shopkeeper," Vaylin said, handing the item to the grizzled merchant. "My niece wants all the sweets and that toy. Take this, and keep the change."
The object she handed over was a perfectly crafted Divine Grade Armor Fragment, easily worth the entire annual income of the surrounding three cities.
The shopkeeper, a Foundation Establishment cultivator, received the fragment. The overwhelming, crushing Divine Pressure instantly hit him. His eyes went wide as saucers, and he seized the counter for support, close to having a seizure.
"D-Divine... Divine Relic..." the shopkeeper managed to stammer, his knees buckling.
Lilith and Seraphina exchanged glances, their faces frozen in horror.
"Sister-In-Law! What are you doing?" Seraphina hissed, grabbing Vaylin's arm and trying to shield the terrified merchant. "That is a Divine Grade artifact! You can't use that for candy!"
Vaylin looked genuinely perplexed. "Oh? Is it too much? I thought the exchange rate for these lower worlds was quite favorable. It's just a common guard from our second-tier troops."
Lilith stepped in, quickly retrieving the artifact. "We have currency, Sister-In-Law. We will use proper currency," she said through gritted teeth, quickly tossing the shopkeeper a pouch of high-grade spiritual coins that far surpassed the cost of the sweets and toys.
The shopkeeper, now kneeling, simply took the coins, convinced he had been visited by eccentric, terrifying deities.
Vaylin watched, utterly bewildered by the local customs, but pleased that Eterna was happily stuffing her face with candied fruits.
