My Pregnant Stepsister

Chapter 38

My eyes were heavy, and all I could think of was sleep. A pregnant woman with a meddling father, how do I cope?

"Brandon," I said. He smiled.

"The name is great, but... no!" he retorted. I smiled, remembering my friend Brandon, whom Joshua hates so much. It's been a long time since I spoke to him, though. I think I lost his number.

"Jeff," I said.

"Nahh, that's the name of the guy who bullied me when I was in school," he said.

Huh?

For the first time in my life, I needed Joshua. There were like 5,000 names in the book. I don't know how to say no to him.

"Melis," I offered.

"No, doesn't sound good," he would reply.

"Alex."

"Too popular."

"Seth," I said.

"Is that a name?"

"Desmond."

"Too long."

I swear I fell asleep, but his voice woke me up. "Call names that start with P," he said.

"Patrick."

"That name is for psychopaths," he retorted.

"Quinn, find a good name," he said, and my stomach started to rumble. I was hungry, too. The door was opened by a maid, and Joshua walked in.

My hubby... carrot nose. He was just in time to save me.

"Hey, Dad," he said and came close, sitting beside me.

"How lovely! You both are here... You need to help your wife find a name for Joshua Junior," he squealed.

Joshua looked at me, and I made an "I'm sleepy" face. I think he got the message.

"Actually, Dad, we have an appointment with a doctor. We have to go now. Come on, wifey," he said and took my hand, and we stood up.

His dad was smiling like he had just won an award. He wants to stress me out.

"Okay, bye, dear," he said, and Joshua and I left with the maid carrying the baby's clothes. As soon as we were outside, I was so sleepy that I fell into Joshua's arms, inhaling his delicious scent as he carried me in a bridal style. He smells so good. I drifted to sleep afterward in the car.

Joshua's POV

Two months to go. My pregnant wife is seven months pregnant. Soon, we'll both welcome our first bundle of joy. I don't know what gender I would like the baby to be, but either is fine with me. It's not like I planned on having a baby. I was just in the mood, and she actually seduced me, causing trouble as always.

I walked into the master's bedroom and met her going through my drawer.

"What are you looking for?" I asked, looking at her bulging tummy. The shape of her tummy is so cute, round, and smooth. It looks perfect in any clothes she wears.

"I found these," she said and showed me what was in her hand.

Oh God... She was holding the sleeping pills I've been putting in her meals whenever she disturbs me late at night. I went to her and took them.

"Carrot nose, what are you doing with sleeping pills?" she asked, and I went numb.

Talk, Joshua!

"I... take it sometimes. It helps me sleep," I said, stammering.

"Helps you sleep? Do you have sleeping problems... Is it because of me?" she asked, looking so innocent. I could just hug her!

"No. Not you. It doesn't happen all the time," I said, putting my hands in my pockets.

"Tell me the truth. Am I a burden to you?" she asked and started to cry.

Jeez. When did those tears build up? I quickly sat beside her and pulled her to lean on me.

"I want to go and stay with your dad. I don't want to be here anymore," she sniffed.

What?

I should just tell her the truth. I drug her sometimes so I can sleep peacefully, but she won't be so happy to hear that. Pregnancy hormones are driving me crazy.

"Stop crying. Let's just go to sleep, okay?" I said, utterly confused.

She nodded and climbed onto the bed while I joined her. "I want a jar of margarine," she said.

What?

"Didn't you have dinner?" I asked.

"I did... I just want to taste some margarine," she said, pouting.

I stood up and sighed before going to get the margarine jar. I got it and handed it to her, and she opened it, using her spoon to scoop it out. I just stared at her.

"Look at you, Quinn. Pregnant woman, did you ever imagine your tummy could get this big? Before, you had a nice flat tummy with a small belly button that made you look like a goddess," I said, covering her waist with the duvet.

"Wait, Joshua, are you body shaming me?" she asked, and my jaw dropped.

"No. I was complimenting you. You look great, Quinn," I said, and she looked at me.

What is she looking at?

I slowly looked down and saw my body was erect and visible through my briefs. How embarrassing.

"You could have just said you were ready," she said, grinning.

"I didn't know, Miss," I said, rubbing my head nervously.

"Don't go too deep," she said, surprising me. Really?

I kissed her on her lips, and then I helped her remove her nightgown. Oh, my Lord...

I got on top of her, spreading her legs. I rubbed against her light underwear, and she groaned. Seriously. I had to be very slow and steady. I didn't want my body to hit her womb where the baby is. I removed her underwear, and her body was a bit wider now.

"Hubby..." she moaned, and I smiled. She was in the mood, too. I pulled in slowly and started to move. She moaned with her eyes closed, and our hands were locked on the bed. I couldn't even kiss her because her big tummy was between us. I was done and released inside her. We both lay beside each other, breathing softly. Soon, I noticed she had fallen asleep. I kissed her on her forehead and cuddled her.

Divorce?

I don't think I can divorce you, Quinn. I can't imagine that now. It's going to be a tough life without you. I can't leave you. I don't think I can.

She turned and laid her head on my chest. I smiled and held her.

I woke up the next morning, and I couldn't see Quinn. She wasn't in bed as usual. I stood up and headed to the bathroom. I went in, but she wasn't there. I was confused; where could she be?

I went outside and downstairs, hoping to see her, but she wasn't there. That's when I became confused. I went upstairs again and picked up my phone. I was about to call her when she walked inside.

"Where were you? I was searching for you," I said.

"Why would you be searching for me? Am I missing?" she said as she put her arms around my neck.

"You know I love you. I woke up and I didn't see you, so I was worried," I said.

"Aww, as if you care," she said, smiling.

"So what are you trying to say? I don't care?"

"You know you don't, but I think you are changing," she said.

"Changing from what to what?" I asked.

"Never mind," she said and drew closer to me. We were now very close. She noticed what was about to happen and said, "I haven't brushed my teeth."

"Who cares?" I said, and we kissed.

"Your food is ready. Maybe it's when I was microwaving your meal that you were looking for me," she said.

"You were in the kitchen? You don't have to be doing all these things. You know you are seven months pregnant, so I don't want you to stress yourself. You know I love you very much. We have maids. Please allow the maids to do that," I said as she was smiling at me.

"Are you really the one saying this?" she asked, smiling.

I love her when she smiles. She always looks more attractive when she smiles. Her smiles will make you think she's trying to win you over with just her smile. You can get a feeling.

I have some interviews at the office for my new personal assistant. Maya resigned and left for another company. So I need to eat and get to work. After taking my breakfast, I left in my new modern Range Rover.

Tori's POV

I honestly couldn't stand him. His name was Joshua. And apparently, according to everyone else I worked with, he was this perfect guy. Judging by the stories, when he would walk across the office, light would shine on him, and the angels would sing. Everyone fawned over him. The other girls in the office talked about how cute they found him and how lucky his wife was. The guys would say how cool he was and talk about how they had hung out with him that one time. He was treated like a rock star within the office, maybe because he is the boss's son.
