Chapter 97: ( ꐦ⩌_⩌) Thats not how that works...
Slashing forward, I barely misstep, yet it is enough for the tiger to prey upon. Expertly side stepping my strike, the creature takes one step back before lunging forward. Using its full weight, the giant animal pushes me down to the ground. Its sharp clawed fingers drive into my body, the curvature prevents any hope of escape.
In a futile apish attempt, I try to push the salivating tiger off me. It bites at my hands, ripping and tearing any attempt I used to try to escape.
"AHHH!"
It hurts, it hurts.
Like boxing a sea urchin, any place I try to put my hands is either ripped, bitten or torn off.
"GRAVES!" Riven shouts as she steps towards me. Her eyes water as she reaches out, yet she doesn't dare to step closer.
Lying there defenselessly on my stomach, I attempt to tilt my head back, but the tiger has its teeth securely around my neck. "I'm fin- FUCK!" Between the dagger like claws planted into my shoulders and the huge teeth being driven into my neck, I want to cry out, but I know if I do Riven will do something reckless.
"RUN!" is all I manage to get out before I hear a crack. The tiger's teeth slowly sink deep into my neck before it thrash-
...
Wincing, the world around me is a blinding white. My head hurts, and my neck feels sore. For a moment, my movements are discombobulate-
"AHHH!" The fucking tiger is chewing at my arm.
Most of my limbs have been bitten or torn from their connected nerves, preventing any motion.
It seems I died, but that training with Dissiri has at least hastened the time it takes for me to be fully revived.
Like a dumbass, Riven is frozen with concern, as she can't decide whether to listen to me and run or to try to help me. But perhaps her lack of movement may have been a good thing. Without any sudden threatening movements, the tiger has put all of its attention onto me, but if she were to run for it, the tiger might have gone after her.
Her purple eyes glisten as she weeps for my supposed death, yet her eyes widen as she sees me still living and breathing despite having my body being eaten alive.
Wincing through the pain I fear making any dramatic motions, so I attempt to subtly motion my eyes away, mouthing for her to escape...
Standing there, she finally manages to move at least her arm as she... that dumbass! Don't reach for your weapon! You can't fight a fucking tiger! She reaches for her shuriken as though her tiny metal star could kill this 700 pound lug that's on top of me.
She yanks it from her pocket, "Get off of Graves!"
(╥ᆺ╥;) Why must she taunt her death like that.
Lifting its bloodied maw from my torn body it now directs its lucid gaze to Riven. She immidelty regrets her choice of heroics as she lurches back at the sight of the rabid beast.
Disregarding me, the creature steps on my corpse, forcing the blood out of me like a wet sponge.
The tiger uses me as a perch, growling at Riven as though a final warning.
Despite her trembling body, Riven courageously steps up, having lost that previous fear she holds out her punny kunai with the utmost determination.
there's nothing I can do, as my limbs have been severed at their joints. The tiger continues it prowl towards Riven, forcing my brain to race.
Besides me lies the sword I had taken from the corpse. Focusing all of my strength into that arm, I reach out, my fingertips brush against the sharp blade. With a hot slice, my fingers bleed, but that doesn't stop me. Flopping forward like a seal, I attempt to trudge myself one more inch closer.
The tiger has gotten off of me as its target as switched, I need to hurry. Unlike me, one pounce from that tiger will put Riven in the grave.
With a loud groan, I manage to wrap my hand around the sharp blade of the sword in a mordhau grip. My hand gushes blood as I desperately grip onto it.
Ignoring the pain, I whip around.
Barlely managing to knick the tigers heel, I at least manage to get its attention for a moment. Turning around it hisses at me, whipping its head back and forth it visibly conveys the uncertianty of which target to strike first.
With both of my legs out of commision, only my two arms work. So, taking the uncertainy, I grab onto the back of the creatures leg. focusing all of my streghth into my left arm, I pull myself up onto the back of the tiger.
Riding on the back of the Shere Khan-like tiger it whips around, deciding to focus its full attention on the monkey like creature clinging to the fur on its back.
Turning in violent circles the gorwling cat bites towards me,evading its vicous drooling mouth I barley manage to lean left and right as its sharp mouth snaps towards me.
The creatures movements are too sporadic, and lacking the support of my legs, it manges to shake me off enough to bite into my arm. With a violent yank it tears off my arm but not before I manage to drive my sword into its back with only one remaining limb, I cling onto the implanted blade with all of my strength.
With one final
With no remaining limbs, no weapons, and lacking any blood, my body lies defensless on the ground
TIlting my head back, Riven is still standing there like a deer in the headlights. With an exhale of defeat, my tiredness consumes me.
( ╥__╥) C'mon girl you've got to meet me halfway.
The tiger limps its way over to me, towering over my knubby body, it gives one final growl deafening me as I wince.
I- I don't want to lose...
I don't want her to die...
For my weakness to be the deciding factor...
The reason for my tears has shifted; instead of pain, it is caused by the misery of my failure, the cumulation of my weakness.
She will die, and it will be all my fault.
But as I open my eyes, a downpour of red liquid sprays down on my face, at least a liter of bood sprays into my mouth.
Hacking and coughing, I attempt to roll myself over as I vomit out the blood. Before I can even see what's going on, I feel 700 pounds of force fall onto my back as I lie on my limbless stomach.
With a wheeze the last of my air is expelled from my system.
"GRAVES! GRAVES!" I can't see her, but I feel her grab my shoulders, and pull me out from under what I assume is the corpse of the tiger.
My eyes are still covered in red and my mouth has that metallic taste of blood stuck to it.
Lifting up my body, I am suspended in the air like a stuffed animal. She tightly hugs me as I feel her tears wash away the blood that has pained my face. "Why? Why did you do something so reckless... only I was supposed to die!"
"This is awkward... well... surprise!"
Almost throwing me away in a panic, her eyes widen. "Eh!? Graves... you'r- you're alive?!"
"That seems to be the case."
"How... are you alive?!"
"I'm somewhat of a special case." I sigh.
With watery eyes she smile, squeezing me rightly against her face, my body spurts out an alarming amount of blood.
Wincing through the life force being squeezed out of me like a lemon, I wheeze. "How... did you kill it?"
Holding me out in her arms like a baby she beams at me. "The indomitable human spirit!"
( ꐦ⩌_⩌) "Thats not how that works..."
Holding me up, she holds me between her arms like a pillow. "We don't have time for talking! I need to get you help!"
Before I can thank her for her ill founded care, there is an array of various roars surrounding us. Circling in around us is a jaguar, a badger, a sun bear, a hippo, that colossal grizzly bear.
Held between her chest, I could feel Riven's heart sink as she tightly clutches my limbless body like a teddy bear.
The rabid creature's hiss and growl at one another as they bicker amongst one another, deciding who will get to eat us.
Despite having nothing left to give, knowing that I would survive this, yet there would be nothing I could do to save Riven from getting killed. The next time I awoke from my death, she would be dead beside me.
With a deafening blare, a siren echoes through the artificial ecosystem.
The creatures begin to wince for a moment, while Riven and I exchange glances of confusion as to what's happening.
Like a water fountain, the surrounding animals suddenly erupt in a waterfall of blood as it spurts from their mouths.
Despite the overwhelming amount of blood streaming from their mouths, they still stand there. They attempt to continue their advance, stumbling forward. yet a moment later, their bodies crumble to the ground with a loud thud. Lying there, they gasp for air before their breathing comes to an eventual end.
