Chapter 14: A Hero's Intercession in the Alley

The air in the bustling city was thick with the stench of sweat, food, and the constant noise of merchants haggling and people moving about. Kayode weaved through the crowd, his eyes scanning the city streets. Oba, ever perched on his shoulder, was unusually quiet as they navigated the maze of alleyways.

As they turned a corner into a narrow alley, the sound of muffled cries reached Kayode's ears. His eyes narrowed, and his heart began to race. Without a second thought, he followed the sound, his steps quickening. As he reached the end of the alley, his gaze fell upon a scene that made his blood boil.

A beautiful young woman, her hair dark and disheveled, was backed into a corner by three men. They wore dark robes marked with the insignia of the Coiled Serpent Sect, a sect known throughout the city for its brutality. The men's cruel laughter echoed through the alley as they pushed the woman further against the wall.

"Please! Let me go!" she cried, her voice trembling. "I beg you!"

The leader of the sect disciples sneered, his eyes cold with malice. "You should feel honored. Not every mortal gets a chance to entertain us. Don't worry, it'll be over soon."

Kayode clenched his fists, his bloodline roaring to life within him. He could feel the power rising, an unstoppable force urging him to act. He took a step forward, his voice firm and commanding, "Enough."

The three disciples froze and turned toward him. The leader's eyes flicked over Kayode, dismissing him with a laugh. "What's this? Another mortal who thinks he can stop us? You're in the wrong place, friend."

Kayode's expression hardened. "I don't care who you are. Release her now."

The disciples exchanged glances, sneers spreading across their faces. "You've got a death wish, don't you?" the leader mocked.

Without further hesitation, Kayode surged forward. The first disciple lunged at him with a dagger, but Kayode sidestepped with fluid grace. His staff struck the man's wrist, knocking the weapon from his hand before smashing it into his chest. The disciple flew back, crashing into a pile of crates, groaning in pain.

The second disciple charged, his Qi flaring as he drew a sword. Kayode reacted faster, his staff swinging in a perfect arc to disarm the man. The sword flew from the disciple's hands, and before he could react, Kayode's staff hit him in the abdomen, sending him tumbling to the ground, gasping for air.

The leader, now furious, pulled out a gleaming blade, his Qi surging dangerously. "You'll regret this!" he snarled, charging at Kayode with reckless speed.

Kayode met the strike head-on, his staff clashing against the leader's sword. The force of the impact reverberated through the alley, but Kayode remained calm. His enhanced reflexes, fueled by his bloodline, allowed him to dodge and counter with deadly precision. With a swift motion, he struck the leader's side, sending him crashing into the wall.

The leader groaned, struggling to rise, but before he could regain his footing, Kayode's staff hovered above his throat.

"Wait!" the leader gasped, terror flashing in his eyes. "Spare me! I'll leave! We won't bother you again!"

Kayode's gaze hardened. "You've done enough."

Without hesitation, he ended the leader's life with a single strike, leaving the alley silent and still.

The remaining two disciples, now trembling in fear, didn't dare to move. Kayode turned his attention to the girl. Her face was streaked with dirt and tears, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and gratitude.

"Are you alright?" Kayode asked, his voice gentle but filled with authority.

The girl nodded, still shaking. "I... I'm Ling Yue. Thank you. You saved my life."

Kayode gave a small nod, offering her a reassuring smile. "It's nothing. The world can be cruel, but that's why we must stand against it."

Oba, who had been silently observing the whole time, finally spoke up. "Kayode, this girl... she's far more than just a mortal. She has the potential to grow strong if given the right guidance."

Kayode raised an eyebrow, his gaze flicking toward Oba. "What do you mean?"

Oba's golden eyes gleamed with subtle knowing. "Ling Yue has latent power inside her. However, without the right cultivation technique, she'll never realize her true potential. If you help her, she could become a powerful ally in this ruthless world."

Kayode was thoughtful for a moment, weighing Oba's words. He wasn't in the habit of helping others without reason, but something about Ling Yue's potential resonated within him.

As if on cue, the system's voice rang in his mind, offering its advice.

---

System Notification:

Kayode, consider purchasing the Soaring Dragon Technique for Ling Yue. This technique has the potential to unlock her latent abilities. By practicing the technique, Ling Yue will be able to condense a drop of the Soaring Dragon bloodline essence, giving her the possibility of transforming into a Soaring Dragon, a being of immense power.

---

Kayode's eyes flicked to the system's suggestion. The Soaring Dragon Technique seemed like an ideal cultivation method for someone with a dragon bloodline.

Kayode then bought the technique from the system for 50 A.P and without hesitation he threw it and the igbo mask, orb of elemental harmony and the spirit gathering orb to ling yue.

"Cultivate it while you can, this is the only help I can render to you now" Kayode said casually.

" T....Thank you" ling yue muttered silently with her head bowed looking at the things kayode gave her but when she looked she discovered that kayode had already vanished from the spot he was.

"He left without even leaving his name behind" She thought. "But don't worry I will definitely make sure I don't disappoint you if we meet again." She thought with a determined expression.
