Chapter 37
Vanessa had been eagerly anticipating a relaxing evening with Yanna. However, an unexpected turn of events forced her to alter her plans.
As the night progressed, Vanessa received an urgent call from her cousin Clide, who is the President of Dream Entertainment, a company that he had self-established. Vanessa worked as a contracted actress at Dream Entertainment and was also one of the biggest shareholders.
She deeply appreciated Clide's kindness and support, as he always treated her better than her own family. Despite the unjust blame she faced from her own relatives regarding her sister's untimely death, Clide stood by Vanessa and provided unwavering support..
Reluctantly, Vanessa realized that she had no choice but to return to work immediately. This meant putting her desire to spend the night with Yanna on hold.
"Ha, I have to go," Vanessa sighed.
"Is it your manager?" Yanna asked, concerned.
"No, it's Clide, my cousin. He said he needs to discuss something important," Vanessa explained.
"Then you should go back now, just be careful while driving," Yanna replied, understanding the situation.
"But... is it really alright?" Vanessa asked, her voice filled with hesitation.
"Yeah, we can talk over the phone if you miss me," Yanna assured, wrapping her arms around Vanessa.
"What about you? Won't you miss me?" Vanessa inquired, her heart longing to stay.
"I'll miss you, of course. So call me whenever you're free, okay?" Yanna said, gently kissing Vanessa's hair.
Reluctantly, Vanessa gazed at Yanna one last time, taking in her transformed appearance. Despite being the same person she knew from the Survival Show, Yanna had somehow become even more attractive to her.
As Vanessa locked eyes with Yanna, a blush creeped up Yanna's face.
'Is this how Vanessa felt when I looked at her?' Yanna wondered silently.
Unable to resist any longer, Vanessa leaned in and kissed Yanna once again.
In that fleeting moment, time seemed to stand still as Vanessa cherished every second spent with the person she loved.
As Vanessa left Yanna's place, her mind couldn't help but wander.
'Is the female protagonist I know supposed to be this bold? I wasn't even prepared for those two kisses, especially considering I'm the Alpha. This is crazy,' Vanessa pondered.
Vanessa made her way to the company's office, where Clide was waiting and looking out of the window.
"What's the matter?" Vanessa asked as she entered the room and took a seat on the sofa.
Clide, with his striking blue eyes similar to Vanessa's, gazed at her. His previously indifferent expression faded as tears welled up in his eyes.
"Alright, if you start crying, I won't stay here any longer," Vanessa joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Clide immediately wiped away his tears and sat across from her.
"Vanessa, look what I found," Clide said, handing her a brown envelope.
Vanessa eyed Clide suspiciously, slowly taking out the papers from the envelope. She read through them meticulously. Clide had expected a stronger reaction from Vanessa, but he underestimated her indifference.
"Why do you have this? I never asked you to investigate her," Vanessa questioned, her curiosity piqued.
"Ahem, well, you see, when I observed you with her, I couldn't help but notice that she..." Clide hesitated for a moment, his intuition warning him of potential trouble.
"She's entirely different from the rumors, and for your own sake, I took it upon myself to investigate her background. Turns out, she's an amazing Alpha, a role model. But those people took advantage of her kindness!" Clide exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice.
"Have you found out who's behind it?" Vanessa asked, tapping her fingers on the table.
Clide began to sweat, wondering if he had made the right decision.
"No, should I investigate that as well?" Clide asked hesitantly.
"Yes, let's find out who they are. We should reward them accordingly," Vanessa replied, her smile taking on a menacing tone.
"Alright. By the way, did Oliver tell you about the party?" Clide asked, changing the subject.
"Clide," Vanessa interrupted.
"Vanessa, just listen to me. He's a good guy, and you've known him since childhood. You can trust him. Just give him a chance, at least consider dating him," Clide suggested, attempting to play matchmaker.
"I've known him since childhood, so I know exactly what kind of Alpha he is. So, the answer is no. Don't push him onto me. Why don't you date him instead?" Vanessa rebutted, refusing the idea.
"Oh, come on! I'm rooting for both of you. I don't want him," Clide protested.
"I don't like him. Let's end this discussion here. I'm tired," Vanessa declared, putting an end to the conversation.
In the meantime, back at Yanna's rental house, Yanna found herself contemplating an important decision. She had been living in the cozy house for a few months and had started to envision it as her permanent home while she was arranging the backyard at some point. However, with the rising real estate prices in the area, she couldn't help but wonder if buying the house would be a wise investment.
Yanna carefully considered the pros and cons, weighing factors such as stability, financial commitments, and the potential for future growth. Seeking advice, she turned to her friend and neighbor, Lanice.
After much deliberation, Yanna made her decision about the house. Understanding that taking risks and embracing change can lead to great rewards, she began by researching the process of purchasing a property and familiarizing herself with the legalities involved. Yanna decided to save money by cutting back on unnecessary expenses and sought
advice from financial experts to ensure she was well-prepared for this investment.
