Chapter 349: The Might of the Ancestral Beast
A sense of crisis enveloped Volgang and Gu Jite, for on the tall, shadowy figure before them, they felt the same kind of aura as that which emanated from the fearsome beings within the Great Blood Sea.
Thud
The Black Rock Bull Demon strode forward, its vine-entwined, towering body exposed before all of the Lizardmen, holding in its hand an axe formed from condensed vines, its sanguine gaze fixed on the Lizardmen.
The ground began to rumble ominously, with a multitude of fissures radiating outwards from the Black Rock Bull Demon toward the entire Lizardman Troops.
Some Lizardmen failed to evade in time and were swallowed by the chasms, which resembled giant maws of the abyss.
The earth deformed, shooting up to form walls tens of meters high, decisively cutting off the Lizardman Troops into two sections—the front and back—the latter being the human slaves now isolated behind the barrier.
Not good!
Volgang's face suddenly contorted with concern, but by then he could already hear the screams of Lizardman warriors coming from the other side of the wall.
After the wall of rock isolated them, countless Tree-born Worms surged from beneath the ground, opening their gaping maws towards the already pinpointed locations of the Lizardmen.
At that time, a mere few thousand Lizardmen were participating in the guard, and although their forces included several experienced Second Order Lizardman warriors and some Lizard Beasts already quickly forming defenses, none could have predicted an attack from below.
In just a moment, many Lizardmen were overpowered by the Tree-born Worms, their teeth sharp as saw blades, shattering the Lizardmen's Scale Armor and tearing large pieces of flesh from their bodies.
Screams continuously filled the air as blood dyed the ground red.
"The chance has come!"
Suddenly, someone's encouraging shout arose, and then almost all the cages exploded into a frenzy of activity.
Imprisoned humans slammed against the metal bars, the colossal impact making the cages rattle loudly.
"Damn slaves,"
A Third Order Lizardman Warrior cleaved a couple of Tree-born Worms in half, his eyes glinting ferociously, "Fend off these creatures. Volgang and Lord Gu Jite will take care of the wall, suppress these slaves."
His tone was stern and icy, clearly prepared to suppress the rebelling humans with bloodshed if necessary.
Roar
The ground suddenly shook violently, and a vast crack appeared near his position, with a large quantity of earth being hurled into the air. A colossal shadow enveloped him completely.
As he looked up, he saw a gargantuan worm, dozens of meters long, with tough skin and a ferocious gaping maw, its aura unmistakably that of a Third Grade Superior.
He swung his sword at once, Spiritual Energy coalescing into the blade as it struck towards the Tunnel Giant Worm.
The Lizardman warrior was seasoned in battle and attacked the Tunnel Giant Worm immediately upon sighting it, responding with incredible speed. In an instant, the blade's light had reached the front of the Tunnel Giant Worm.
But the Tunnel Giant Worm, having launched a surprise attack, was not to be countered by this Third Order Lizardman Warrior. It opened its gaping maw and spewed a stream of venom, colliding squarely with the sword's edge.
A continuous sizzling noise could be heard!
The blade's energy had not even reached the Tunnel Giant Worm; it had already been completely corroded away.
The Tunnel Giant Worm twisted its body, and with its massive mouth following the trail of the venom, it devoured the Third Order Lizardman in one gulp. It chewed voraciously, the venom lingering in its mouth corroding the flesh to an unrecognizable state.
As the tunnel opened, a multitude of warriors clad in Black Armor Breeding Armor surged out of the tunnel, one after another, their spiritually energized light blades or metallurgic weapons relentlessly striking at the Lizardmen who were battling the Tree-born Worms.
The sudden appearance of the Tree Domain Troops not only caught the Lizardmen off guard but also stunned the imprisoned survivors.
Could there be more people?
"All survivors, listen up! We are from the Tree Domain base. Now, follow the orders, break out in an orderly manner, and evacuate through the tunnel following the guides!"
The shout spread across the battlefield, shocking the dazed survivors into action, with reflexive urgency.
Soon, Tree Domain warriors wielding spiritually energized light blades approached the cages, the energy channeled into their blades.
"Make way."
As the survivors in the cages moved aside, the warrior swung his blade and the iron bars clanged loudly, severing them instantly.
With a couple of slashes, he cut through the iron bars, prying open a large hole, and then the Tree Domain warrior said, "Quick, get out! Run down the tunnel; there will be someone to receive you. Don't cause trouble, or there will be no mercy for agitators."
"Brother, are you with the Armed Forces?"
The survivors couldn't help but inquire, to which the Pioneer Troop's warrior turned his head and smiled, "Close enough. We are from the Tree Domain Pioneer Troops. Hurry up and move; you'll find out more later."
One cage after another, the Lizardman warriors attempted to advance, but they were already overwhelmed, struggling with the Tree-born Worm assault and the obstruction of the Pioneer Troops.
In just ten minutes, thousands of Lizardman warriors found themselves completely mired in combat and utterly unable to prevent the actions of the Tree Domain Troops.
Even the number of their personnel kept dwindling, with bodies and remnants scattered all around.
...
"Damn it, what's going on with them!"
Volgang held his enormous blade before him, the clang of metal bracing against the vine's assault launched by the Black Rock Bull Demon. His body swayed, dissipating the enormous force.
He was extremely anxious, although unaware of what exactly was happening inside the earth walls. But with such screams pouring forth, he feared that the fate of the Lizardmen inside was likely bleak.
The sacrifice of Lizardmen was not important. What mattered were the human slaves—tens of thousands captured through days of laborious effort.
If they were to die, then all that work would have been in vain.
