Chapter 220: A Tense Juggling Act
At this point, there was no use in saying anything more.
After walking by the seaside for a while, Lillian and I returned to our rooms. As for living together with Lillian, I didn't have that thought for now. After all, today's decision was made against my will, and I was still undecided in my heart.
I have a clear understanding of my own abilities. The Allen Family is not to be trifled with. This is very dangerous and prone to injury.
I originally planned to have some fun with Kelsey and Mya tonight, but now I wasn't in the mood, letting the cold water wash over my body.
Just then, there was a knock on my door. I quickly threw on a bathrobe.
When I opened the door, to my surprise, standing outside was Mya! I thought it was Kelsey, so I was surprised to see Mya instead.
Mya had already changed out of her swimsuit. She was in shorts and a white T-shirt, her hair still wet like she had just showered.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
Mya nodded, then shook her head.
I couldn't help but laugh. "So, is there or isn't there?"
"Um, can I come in and talk?" Mya asked.
I motioned for her to come in.
After closing the door, I said, "Sit wherever you want. Want something to drink?"
"No, thanks," Mya replied.
"How about some water?"
I grabbed a cold bottle of water from the fridge, and Mya took it. "Thanks!"
I took out a bottle of red wine and sat next to her. "So, what's up?"
Mya looked a bit shy. "Um, about last time, I'm really sorry, I lied to you!"
She lowered her head apologetically.
I waved it off. "I've already forgotten about it."
"Thank you." Mya smiled. "You're really a good person."
"I can't let you feel too awkward."
"You said you had something to talk to me about last time; what was it?" Mya asked, taking a sip of water.
"I heard from Lillian that your mom is the head of your department. I just opened a dance training company, so I wanted to ask if you could introduce me to her and ask her to help our company?"
I didn't mention anything about a partnership to minimize Mya's resistance. Asking a famous dance teacher for help is pretty common; she'd feel honored.
"Is that all you wanted to ask me?" Mya asked.
"Of course." I smiled. "I can't be asking you out on a date, right?"
I half-joked.
Mya suddenly got nervous. "What date? You can't say things like that; Lillian would be upset."
That was quite a reaction.
"I was just joking," I said.
"Even as a joke, you shouldn't say that." Mya suddenly stood up. "I have to go now. I'll mention what you said to my mom."
"Stay a bit longer," I said.
"No, thanks!"
Just as Mya was about to leave, there was another knock on my door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
Mya suddenly looked like a startled bird. "It must be Lillian coming over."
Lillian?
Probably not. It's more likely Kelsey!
Mya shouldn't be here at this time. If Kelsey finds out, it's over.
"I'll hide."
Now, that's the only option. "Sorry, but could you hide in the closet for a bit? I'll get rid of Kelsey!"
"Okay!" Mya nodded and quickly slipped into the closet.
I opened the door, and sure enough, it was Kelsey standing outside.
Kelsey was holding a bag of clothes, and as soon as she saw me, she threw herself into my arms. "William, I missed you so much."
Oh my God, Mya is still in the room.
I quickly closed the door. "Get down, stop messing around."
Kelsey looked puzzled, her big eyes full of confusion. "William, you seem a bit off tonight."
"No, I'm just a bit tired from the day," I replied.
"Tired from giving us massages all day, huh? Lie down on the bed, and I'll give you a massage."
Oh my God, I can't let her say that.
I quickly coughed twice. "No need. I'll be fine after a night's rest."
Kelsey stared at me intently, and then looked inside. "There must be someone in there."
Kelsey suddenly sniffed the air. "No, there's another woman's perfume in the air!"
No matter their age, women turn into Sherlock Holmes when it comes to catching a guy cheating.
"No!" I blurted out. "Lillian just stopped by for a bit and then left."
"Lillian?" Kelsey looked at me skeptically. "Then why are you so nervous?"
"Nervous? I'm not," I insisted.
"William, you must be hiding something from me," Kelsey said.
"I'm not hiding anything from you," I repeated.
Kelsey looked up at me. "So, you're not letting me get close because of Lillian?"
She suddenly said, "I get it, you're afraid Lillian will find out. It's okay, you two are just fake dating, not real dating. As long as we're discreet."
Hearing Kelsey getting more and more outrageous, I quickly covered her mouth and whispered in her ear, "You should go now. I'll come find you after I shower."
"But didn't you already..."
Before Kelsey could finish her sentence, there was another knock on my door.
I was getting frantic. Who could it be this late?
Kelsey suddenly felt a bit guilty. "Who is it? Lillian?"
I shook my head, then walked over to the door and peeked through the peephole. It really was Lillian!
I was exasperated. Why are they all coming here so late? I can't be that popular, right?
But I was also worried. If Lillian found out I had two other girls in my room, it would be a disaster.
"Is it really Lillian?"
I nodded. Kelsey said, "Why is Lillian here again? What should I do? I should hide."
Saying that, Kelsey pointed to the closet. "I'll hide in the closet!"
At that moment, there was a noise from the closet.
"What was that sound?"
Kelsey stopped in her tracks. Thinking quickly, I crouched down and grabbed my foot. "I accidentally kicked the table leg."
Kelsey hurried over. "Does it hurt? Let me help you."
The situation was urgent; I couldn't delay any longer.
I stood up and said helplessly, "No need; it'll be fine in a bit. You should hide in the bathroom!"
"No, what if Lillian comes in? She'll definitely find out."
After that, Kelsey walked over to the closet and opened it.
My heart nearly stopped!
But luckily, Kelsey opened the other side of the closet and didn't find Mya!
Thank God. Thank God!
I quickly went to open the door.
Lillian asked, "Why did it take you so long to open the door? You shouldn't be asleep this early."
"Yeah, I'm just a bit tired today." I went along with Lillian's words.
"I can't sleep," Lillian said.
"Want me to go for a walk with you?" I asked.
"No," Lillian said. "I just wanted to come over and chat with you."
I was exasperated. Lillian could come to chat anytime, but not now!
"You should let me into your room," Lillian said.
I was helpless. I just hoped Lillian would chat for a bit and then leave.
I stepped aside, and Lillian walked in. Her face immediately changed.
"Why does your room smell like a woman's perfume?"
"Does it?"
"And not just one, but two!"
Lillian's nose was incredibly sensitive. There really were two girls in my room.
But I couldn't tell the truth.
"You're mistaken; it's the smell of cleaning products," I quickly said. "If you don't believe me, I'll show you!"
"What cleaning products? This is clearly Chanel and Dior perfume!" Lillian said.
"So impressive, you can even tell the brand of the perfume."
Just as I was marveling, Lillian walked right in.
She opened the bathroom door, and I got super nervous. Luckily, Kelsey wasn't hiding in there; she would've been caught for sure.
I walked to the doorway. "What are you looking for?"
Lillian picked up two bottles of perfume from the sink. "The scent is coming from here."
I was shocked. "How are there two bottles of perfume here? These aren't mine!"
Seeing how nervous I was, Lillian laughed. "They're not yours. The hotel's partners put them here. Five-star hotels always have stuff like this. Even though this place isn't rated yet, it'll definitely become a famous tourist spot. It's normal for brands like Chanel and Dior to collaborate with the hotel."
I relaxed, realizing I had been too tense to think straight.
A lot of people who stay in fancy hotels with tour groups take branded product samples with them. These two bottles were just samples.
Coincidentally, the scent was similar to the one on Mya and Kelsey.
But the fragrance on Mya and Kelsey smelled more natural.
"The room's a bit stuffy. Let's go to the rooftop for a drink."
There's a platform on top of the round house, accessible by a spiral staircase in the middle.
"Sure!" Lillian nodded, and I deliberately said toward the cabinet, "Then let's go to the rooftop for a drink."
Whether Mya and Kelsey would run into each other wasn't my concern.
On the platform, there was a small table and two chairs, surrounded by a railing, so safety wasn't an issue.
If you're a couple, this place is a great spot for a vacation.
The night was beautiful. Lillian and I opened two bottles of wine and lit a cigarette. This kind of life was very comfortable.
I chatted with Lillian until midnight before going downstairs. By then, Lillian was a bit drunk, so I had to take her back to her room.
At this stage, sleeping together wasn't appropriate.
I made sure Lillian was asleep before I left.
I took out my phone and saw a message from Kelsey an hour ago.
Kelsey: (William, no matter how late it is, I'll wait for you!)
This message from Kelsey meant she hadn't run into Mya.
Fueled by the alcohol, I was in high spirits and didn't want to sleep.
I stood outside and knocked on the door for a long time, but Kelsey didn't come to open it.
