My Manor

Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Thief

"Hey, how are you walking?" Seeing Cindy shaken by the collision, Jiang Hai, as a man, naturally had to speak up at this time and shouted loudly at the person over there. But the person did not turn back and ran forward at an even faster speed.

"Something is wrong, check whether your phone and wallet are still there!" Seeing the speed of the little man, Jiang Hai narrowed his eyes and immediately said to Cindy-Clive. After hearing Jiang Hai's words, Cindy reacted and immediately reached into her coat pocket. Sure enough, the wallet that was supposed to be there had disappeared.

"Damn guy, you go drive, I'll chase!" Seeing that this guy was indeed a thief, Jiang Hai cursed inwardly. He was really unlucky. He had finally gone out shopping with a girl but ran into that guy from Carlett Company first, provoking him. Now, just walking around the university, he was spotted by a thief. It was really bad luck.

At that time, he was feeling skilled and bold, so he didn't say much. He threw the car keys to Cindy Clive, who was still confused, and chased after the thief in the direction he had gone.

How fast is Jiang Hai? According to the NBA assistant coach who tested him, as fast as lightning.

Of course, that's an exaggeration, but if he wanted to, he could probably make it to the finals of the 100-meter race in the Olympics.

In just a few minutes, he had already rushed past the corner, and as soon as he passed it, he saw the guy from before. At this time, the thief was in front of a trash can, rummaging through Cindy Clive's wallet that he had just stolen.

He happened to look back and, seeing Jiang Hai rushing over, he was startled. At that moment, he didn't have time to think too much. He stuffed the wallet into his tattered shirt and then ran madly into the distance.

"Who the hell..." Watching the thief's actions, Jiang Hai couldn't help but curse inwardly and then continued to accelerate, rushing forward.

The distance between the two was rapidly shrinking. Just when he was about to catch up, the thief turned and went into an alley again.

As mentioned earlier, the Boston area is one of the oldest cities. Soon after European colonists came to the North American continent, they established Boston here, so the urban area is very narrow. It could be said that among all the metropolitan cities in the U.S., the roads here are the most difficult to navigate. Although Cambridge is not technically part of Boston, the situation is similar.

It is winter now, and while the government clears the snow and ice from the main roads, they don't do so on smaller roads.

When Jiang Hai turned the corner and stepped into this narrow alley, he almost slipped immediately.

There was a thick layer of ice on the ground, not pure and transparent but rather colorful, with all sorts of garbage scattered on it. In some corners, there was a lot of human or animal waste. As soon as he entered the alley, Jiang Hai instinctively wanted to turn back. It would be disgusting to fall here, but seeing the thief moving quickly in front of him, he gritted his teeth and kept going.

"Damn it." If it were another time, he would have caught him long ago and wouldn't be this embarrassed.

But Jiang Hai was determined not to let this guy go. Looking at the sky that was getting darker, Jiang Hai cursed inwardly, took a step, and ran into the alley. Fortunately, Jiang Hai didn't wear formal clothes, so he was dressed in military boots from an outdoor store, which provided a strong grip.

Though running on ice was still slippery, at least with care, he wouldn't fall so easily.

The thief, on the other hand, was clearly used to such scenes. He didn't care about the garbage or excrement on the ground and quickly ran out of the alley. When Jiang Hai chased him out, the thief had already opened up a considerable distance again. If it weren't for Jiang Hai's sharp eyesight, he would have almost lost sight of him. Fortunately, after finally exiting the alley, Jiang Hai immediately sprinted to catch up.

The two chased each other for nearly 20 minutes. The boy's physical strength was finally running out, and his speed began to slow. If it weren't for his familiarity with the area, Jiang Hai might have caught him long ago.

Jiang Hai followed him, stepping carefully on the ice. As the thief turned into another small alley, Jiang Hai followed him in. But after entering, Jiang Hai couldn't help but smile because this alley was a dead end.

At that point, he saw the thief running towards the far end of the alley, and Jiang Hai sighed in relief. He slowly tidied his clothes, stepped on the hard ice, and walked towards him.

"Still running? Why? Give me back my wallet!" Jiang Hai chuckled as he approached the thief. Seeing Jiang Hai coming closer, the thief couldn't help but be scared. He tightly gripped his clothes, and every time Jiang Hai took a step forward, the thief stepped back. Soon, he was backed up against the cold wall at the entrance of the alley, and Jiang Hai walked up to him, looking down.

On the thief's black little face, there was only a pair of large eyes, staring at Jiang Hai without any sign of weakness or fear.

"Hey, you kid won't cry until you see the coffin, huh? Hand it over!" Seeing that the thief didn't return the wallet in this situation, Jiang Hai smacked his lips. He wasn't a patient person, so without saying anything, he grabbed the thief with his right hand. But the thief was quick. He bent down, using the sliding force of the ice to get under Jiang Hai's crotch. However, as he tried to run again, Jiang Hai grabbed the back of his clothes with his left hand and pulled him upright.

When he caught him, Jiang Hai was a bit surprised. The thief was about 1.6 meters tall. Perhaps due to the winter clothes, he didn't appear too light. But when Jiang Hai picked him up, he was shocked—he seemed too light, around 60 to 70 kilograms. This height and weight surprised Jiang Hai, but he quickly recovered and began searching for the wallet.

"Bang, bang, bang, bang!" But the thief didn't give up easily. Though he didn't make any noise, his body struggled continuously, especially his legs, which kept kicking the gate next to the alley, creating harsh sounds. Just as Jiang Hai was about to retrieve the wallet, the gate suddenly opened.

But it wasn't just one gate; over a dozen gates opened simultaneously.

Then, 20 to 30 people walked out, both men and women. Regardless of gender, they all wore tattered clothes like the child in Jiang Hai's hand. The men were mostly dirty, while the women, some older, appeared cleaner, with no black dust on their faces and their hair combed.

Some of the younger ones were in the same condition as the boy. When they saw Jiang Hai and the thief, panic flashed in their eyes, but after a moment, they all calmed down. The women seemed to ignore the scene and went back inside. The remaining men surrounded Jiang Hai, with some even drawing switchblades and eyeing him threateningly. From the moment they came out until Jiang Hai found himself surrounded, they hadn't said a word.

But Jiang Hai understood their intent. Since he had arrived, they had no plans to let him go.

"Hey, it's still a gang," Jiang Hai muttered to himself, not daring to let his guard down. After all, they had weapons, and judging by their faces, they weren't very old, mostly around 20 years old. At this age, people are the most reckless. Though Jiang Hai was physically strong, he had to be cautious.

"Come on!" He casually threw the thief to the side. Looking around, he realized the area was clean, not even a wooden board to use. It seemed he would have to fight with his bare hands.

Seeing Jiang Hai's action, the men exchanged glances. Two of the youngest, standing in front, were pushed out first. These two didn't have weapons and understood that they were being sent to test Jiang Hai's skill. After exchanging looks, they didn't say much and rushed towards him. If it had been the old Jiang Hai, he might have been a little flustered. But don't forget—he'd recently been learning martial arts from Bell, practicing almost every day. With his strong physique, these attacks didn't faze him. He casually raised his foot and kicked the chest of the boy on the right. The impact sent him flying backward into the door. As for the other, he was even worse off.

After kicking the first guy, Jiang Hai grabbed the other by the clothes and threw him straight at the man holding a switchblade. Seeing this, the others were stunned for a moment, but they quickly put their switchblades away—no one wanted to stab their own. However, the result was that they were knocked down by the young man. Taking advantage of the confusion, Jiang Hai rushed at the remaining unarmed men, picking out the weaker ones.
