Chapter 353: A big change
Three days had passed since Eman sent the Titanic Corrupted Queen Bee back to its slumber.
Morning.
Eman stirred, slowly awakening to the soft glow of sunlight spilling through the window. His limbs felt heavy, as though weighed down by invisible chains. His mind was groggy, his body aching in places he didn't even know could ache.
It was only then that he realized— he'd been unconscious for three days.
Apparently, the toll of unleashing such overwhelming power, combined with the strain of forming a sudden contract with a Guardian Dragon, had been too much for his body to handle.
Eman wasn't entirely sure which had pushed him into a coma—the final battle itself, or the moment he became bound to Ameros. But honestly, it didn't matter.
What mattered was that he was alive.
And more importantly, everyone else was safe.
As his vision cleared, the first thing he saw were two sets of familiar, beautiful eyes gazing down at him with concern.
Sol and Zennie.
They sat at his bedside, both startled when his eyes fluttered open.
Zennie was the first to speak, her voice caught somewhere between a laugh and a sigh of relief. "Finally awake, hero?"
Sol leaned in, gently placing a hand on his forehead. "You've been out for three days, Eman. We were starting to worry you'd end up like those storybook knights who slay the Evil Lord and never wake up."
He didn't expect her to joke.
Eman blinked slowly, adjusting to the soft morning light. His mouth was dry, his body sore, but despite everything, he managed a weak smile.
"…Did I miss anything important?" he croaked.
Sol rolled her eyes. "Oh, nothing much. The Queen exploded. The town's saved. You passed out after that."
Zennie chuckled softly, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "We've been taking turns watching over you. Rossbert dropped by, and my sister, Zoey, too. Rothsport is safe, thanks to you."
Eman leaned back against the pillows, exhaling slowly.
But then, his eyes narrowed slightly. Among the familiar faces, a new one stood out—a pair of striking emerald eyes staring back at him.
'…Who is this person?' He thought, realizing there was another presence in the room besides Sol and Zennie.
Seeing his gaze fall on her, the woman's tight-lipped mouth curved into a charming grin.
"Good morning, my dearest."
'D-dearest…?' Eman muttered in his mind, bewildered.
He glanced at Sol and Zennie, expecting some reaction, but surprisingly, both looked calm—too calm. And neither seemed inclined to explain anything.
"…Who are you?" he asked cautiously.
"Your wife, I suppose?" She replied without the slightest hesitation.
"Wife?!" Zennie exclaimed, whipping her head toward Eman with a glare sharp enough to cut steel.
Eman's mind screamed—What kind of guilty-treatment is this?!—but he managed to keep it locked inside.
A sudden chill crept down his spine. From the other side of the bed, a dark aura began to seep into the air. He had just woken from a coma, and the last thing he wanted was to get sent back into one.
He still didn't have a firm grasp of Sol's temperament, and given… that passionate night between them, he figured it was best to tread carefully. Calling their relationship as "master-subordinate" now would be absurd, but "lover" didn't quite fit either.
Ahem—
He decided to disperse the tension first by clearing his throat.
"Please, spare me the teasing, Ameross," he said evenly.
"Oh? You knew?" Ameross blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting Eman to recognize her so quickly—especially in her current form, which even she found strange. She expected to make him fluster, but Eman managed to respond calmly.
He had guessed the moment he spotted the small, elegant emerald dragon horns atop her silver head. Still, the question lingered in his mind—how had she ended up in a human form? And to think that humongous dragon turned into a charming woman— never in his wildest dream he expected it to happen.
Could it be his Taming skill? But he hadn't even used it when forming their contract…
He realized he couldn't get his answer without asking the person herself.
He asked her about her human form but Ameross wasn't sure either. Though she believed it was due to the contract. That led to her in this form.
"I see. In that case, there's nothing we can do about it. However, will you be alright in that form?"
"Hehe. Of course! After all, I can now go everywhere I want without scaring other creatures!" Ameross unexpectedly responded in an excited tone.
Eman nodded in understanding. But before he could say anything else, Ameross proudly announced.
"Don't worry about my dragon form. I can switch back anytime I want!"
"That's too broken." Eman responded in english and—
"What did you say?" Ameross didn't understand it.
"I said it's cool."
"Right." She flashed a grin.
SPLASH!
His attention suddenly caught by splashing sounds coming from outside through the window. When he glanced there, he was confused to see a body of water surrounding the town. Some adults and children were playing while swimming happily.
"Surprised?"
He heard Zennie's gentle voice.
Eman nodded silently and asked. "What happened?"
"We are not sure as well but the whole town is now in the middle of a massive lake."
"What?"
It surprised him.
Just as Zennie said, currently, the whole town was surrounded by fresh water that came out of nowhere.
According to her, the water slowly appeared right after Eman defeated the Titanic Killer Queen Bee.
The townspeople were confused at first and some even panicked. But fortunately, the water didn't cause flushed floods. In the following morning, it turned into a massive lake that surprised the whole town.
Right when Rowan learned of Eman's recovery, he immediately asked to meet him to which Eman agreed.
When Eman appeared right in front of him, Rowan was taken aback by Eman's unexplainable invisible aura.
Although he looked normal, Rowan's intuition told him that something big was different to this new Eman.
There were also some visible changes.
One visible change was the few strands of emerald on his hair. Second, his former red eyes were now a pair of golden pupils.
He heard about Eman's contract with the guardian dragon. It was an opportunity that was difficult to come by.
In history, only a few people, who can only be counted by fingers in one hand, were able to have managed a contact from a divine creature.
And now Eman was the new addition.
Regardless, they discussed in Rowan's private room and both shared information regarding the recent incident.
Right after thanking their benefactor, Rowan didn't beat around the bush and immediately stated his reason for their meeting.
Just as Eman instructed him before, Rowan recruited some men, who were able to manifest spirit energy, and sent them to the location that Eman stated beforehand.
The spirit-user people were able to locate the people who were behind the awakening of the disaster threat-level monster. The spirit-users managed to build a trap and ambush them, however, due to the number disadvantage, the spirit-user group was overwhelmed by the enemies.
But despite the fact that they needed to retreat, somehow, the spirit-users group still managed to capture some of the enemies.
Hearing it, Eman's side of the mouth curled slightly.
