Chapter 300:
Eman wasn't sure if the cat understood what he meant, but he noticed it nodding its head firmly.
"Nya!"
Fufu.
He chuckled inwardly at its response. This cat truly amazed him. He rubbed its head slightly. He wondered if it was a lone cat or if it had a pack of stray cats. But looking that it was alone in this tunnel, it was probably a lone stray cat. There was also the possibility that one of the bandits or their captives at that time was the owner of it.
However, no one of the captives mentioned losing a cat at the time when they rescued them. And in regards to the bandits, it's impossible now to ask them whether one of them is the owner of it.
Putting that matter aside for now, he bent his knees.
"Now then…" While saying that, he placed the cat back on the ground.
Surprisingly, the cat stayed there without causing a fuss. However, a second later, it wobbled and fell to the ground. It also looked weak all of a sudden. And it seemed it was freezing.
As he stared at it, he realized one thing.
'How did this cat survive till this time?' Eman asked internally.
The cat's health points were 17%/100% points. He also noticed an icon under its health bar. When he tapped it, the word displayed was…
[Cold]
It turned out the cat was under the effect of a debuff known as [Cold].
"So, it's sick."
And it turned out it was barely hanging on its life.
<That is probably the reason for its low health. This cat might have run here when the winter is just about to start, Host. >
"I thought the same. But how did it survive till this time?"
<Probably by eating those rats and other living beings we found on our way.>
No wonder the stench.
"But still, how did it manage the freezing climate?"
<Did you notice those tiny herbs near the entrance?>
Now that System mentioned it, he truly noticed them. But, he had no time to inspect them because he was more interested in his original goal of coming here.
"Do you mean… those are healing herbs?"
<No, Host. Those herbs can only temporarily maintain the consumer's body temperature for a limited time.>
"Oh, that sounds interesting. I'll check it later."
<Yes, Host.>
'This cat must have been struggling to survive here.'
He could see that.
Eman then lifted the cat's body, then he used his mouth to hold the flashlight. After that, he produced an elixir and poured it down into the mouth of the cat. He noticed the weakened cat gulping down some of it. Right after that, the cat opened its eyes. Vitality was visibly returned in it.
He slowly placed the cat back on the ground.
"Nyah!!!"
It suddenly stood up and let out a vigorous shout.
Eman smiled, looking satisfied. Noticing the empty transparent bottle in his hand, the cat approached him and rubbed its body onto his feet, probably realizing who its savior was.
Although its health points returned to 100%/100%, the ailment [Cold] was still there.
He summoned another elixir and let the cat drink it. The cat obediently drank it without hesitation. It looked like it trusted him now.
But right after drinking the elixir, you could see the ugly expression on the cat's face.
"Bleurrghh…"
'So even the cat can't handle its taste.'
Eman smiled wryly.
"It's bitter, so bear with it. Don't worry, it will heal your cold and give you resistance to it," he said in his usual calm voice.
"Nyaw…" the cat nodded submissively.
The cat looked pitiful as it tried its best to swallow the medicine.
As he said, the cat finally looked completely healed. Even those tiny bruises on it had gone completely. Its furs became thick and lustrous. Its broken teeth and fang also returned to its original state. He didn't expect this cat could be cuter than it was earlier.
"Alright…"
Saying that in a satisfied tone, he stood up and walked in front of the stone wall. The cat also walked beside him. Using the light of the flashlight he was holding, Eman illuminated the wall. He noticed signs of mining on it. It has holes from here to there, but when Eman used his <Object Appraisal> ability on those areas, the result was negative unexpectedly.
Hah~
He sighed in dismay. It looked like this mine was truly exhausted of rare minerals. When he was about to lose hope of finding any rare minerals in this mine, he suddenly heard the cat making a noise.
"Nyaw!"
The cat suddenly called. When he looked below, he noticed it approached the area where it was scratching earlier.
"Nyah! Nyah!" It suddenly said while pointing to that area of the wall.
"Do you mean there's something in it?"
"Nyah!" It nodded affirmatively.
"Alright, let me see."
After saying that, he bent down again and rubbed the area where the scratches were. He couldn't feel anything from it because he was wearing a pair of thick gloves on his hands, but the wall's rough surface transmitted into him anyhow.
As he was doing that, he noticed the cat tilted its head to the side, following his hand's movement. It might be wondering what he was planning to do.
"Now let's see…"
He used his <Object Appraisal> in that area of the wall.
[<Gravel Stone> <Rarity: Common> <Something's inside>…]
That 'Something's inside' words piqued his interest.
Eman then summoned magical energy on his hand. Touching the wall next, the part of the wall where his glowing hand touched, a crack was formed.
The single crack widened over time until the part of the wall where the crack started began to crumble and fall into tiny pieces. The stones just keep falling apart.
You can see the surprise on the cat's face. Guess, the cat didn't expect that the person next to it was a magician.
Eman, on the other hand, was calm and quiet in controlling his magical energy that he continued to flow through his hand to continue the effect of the spell he used. This spell has no name. The only reason he was able to do this was because of his precise control over his magical energy and his relentless concentration in visualizing the effect of the spell he desired.
All of it gave him the result he sought. Since he was an Earth Elementalist Magician, he could affect stones, which were one of the properties of earth elements.
As the stone wall continues to crumble, Eman gradually sees what's inside. It didn't take long before the flashlight illuminated the shiny golden object.
'Object Appraisal!'
