My Love Debts Are Everywhere!

Chapter 750: The Doubts of the Spirit King

"No need for such anger, Spirit King. Allow me to introduce myself—Leon Kruger, the Fated One."

The introduction made the man and woman flinch. Their mouths fell open, and their hearts raced.

They had not expected that the man standing before them was the Fated One.

With a stiff motion, the man turned to Ruri and asked, "Is it true?"

Ruri sighed softly and nodded. "Yeah, he's the Fated One—and the one who saved me. Didn't I tell you not to get angry first? Now you've offended him, and I can't step in."

Her expression was helpless as she shook her head, clearly unwilling to get involved.

"You…" The man swallowed hard, then glanced at his wife for help, but she only shook her head.

In the end, he looked back at Leon with an embarrassed, awkward expression.

"Fated One, I apologize," he said quickly, bowing his head. "I didn't realize it was you. Please forgive my earlier foolishness."

Had he known Leon was the Fated One, he would never have dared to act so rashly.

But truthfully, the shock was still sinking in. Just a few days ago, he had been restless and anxious, fearing the Fated One would not come to the Valley of a Thousand Whispers as foretold.

After all, only he could lift the curse that plagued their race. And only he could break the restrictions that bound them to that place.

Suffice it to say, he had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of that figure. Unexpectedly, his daughter's disappearance turned out to be a blessing—because she returned with the Fated One!

Had he known earlier, he might have suggested that his little girl vanish and bring Leon back sooner.

If Ruri knew what her father was thinking, she would have been furious, shouting, "Father, you're so cruel!"

Meanwhile, Leon simply smiled, showing no trace of anger.

"Take it easy, Spirit King. I'm not offended by your attitude," he said politely. "I understand your concern, and I can relate to it. So, relax."

He was a father to three little daughters, so he could understand the Spirit King's feelings. If he were in the same position, he would be just as angry.

After all, he was deeply devoted to Fiona, Iris, and Charlotte. There was no way he would let some stranger get close to them. If anyone dared, they would have to face the Holy Sword of Zenith and his Great Sword of Chaos.

The Spirit King breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that Leon showed no anger at all.

Otherwise, things would have gotten complicated, and he would have gone to great lengths to earn Leon's forgiveness.

"Thank you, Fated One," he said gratefully. "By the way, forgive me for not welcoming you sooner. Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Valther. As you know, I'm Ruri's father and the Spirit King of this generation."

Then he straightened up and gestured toward his wife with an open hand. "This is Sylor, my wife."

As Valther introduced her, Sylor placed her right hand on her stomach and greeted, "Welcome, Fated One. I apologize for what happened earlier. My husband has a bad temper and gets angry easily—especially when it comes to his daughters. I hope you can overlook it."

Valther was not pleased to hear that, but he could not argue—his wife was completely right.

Leon simply smiled and waved a hand. "It's alright, Queen Sylor. I understand how King Valther feels. A daughter, after all, is a precious treasure to a father."

Those words struck a chord with Valther. After so long, someone finally understood him. As Leon said, he saw his two daughters as priceless treasures.

He didn't want any stranger or unknown man near them—at the very least, he had to know them well first.

Sylor looked at Leon with admiration. Like her husband, she was also very protective of their two daughters.

The difference was, she had a cooler head and always analyzed the situation carefully before acting.

"By the way, you must be tired, right? I'll have the servants prepare a bedroom for you, Fated One. I apologize for not arranging it earlier," Valther said, sounding embarrassed.

Leon shook his head and replied calmly, "My arrival was unannounced. It's only natural, King Valther."

The more Valther looked at Leon, the more he liked him. He had once imagined the Fated One as arrogant and unapproachable.

But unexpectedly, he turned out to be humble and easygoing—someone who made others feel at ease, without any stiffness in their interactions.

Afterwards, Valther asked the servants to prepare a new room for Leon in the palace. The palace was enormous, yet only the family lived there.

With so many empty rooms available, it didn't take long for the preparations to be completed.

"Then let Ruri accompany you to your room, Fated One," Valther said politely, adding with a hint of jest, "That girl knows the palace map better than anyone."

Ruri didn't object, only snorting coldly. "You don't need to flatter me like that."

She then turned to Leon and whispered softly, "Come, follow me, Fated One."

"Alright," Leon replied with a small smile and nod.

With that, the two headed down the hallway to the right, their figures slowly fading from view.

Valther let out a long sigh and turned to his wife, his face clouded with sorrow.

"What's wrong with Ruri? Why does she seem so angry with me?" he asked in a dejected tone.

He had always treated his daughter with gentleness and love. Yet her coldness made his chest ache, as if his heart were being crushed by an invisible hand.

Sylor rolled her eyes and said, "It's because of your attitude toward the Fated One earlier."

Her words caught Valther off guard. A moment later, he frowned and retorted, "What I did was for her safety. Besides, I didn't know that man was the Fated One. So where exactly did I go wrong?"

Sylor remained silent, unsure whether to laugh or get angry at his stubbornness.

On one hand, she appreciated how protective he was of the family. On the other, his strictness and quick temper irritated her.

In the end, she held her tongue. Arguing with him would only be a waste of breath—and a headache she didn't need.

She turned away, flicking her hair over one shoulder, and said lazily, "Change or don't—it's your choice. Just don't run to me when your daughters have had enough of you and turn their backs."

Before he could respond, Sylor walked off toward the hallway where Leon and Ruri had gone.

Valther stood frozen, watching her retreat. He wanted to call out, but the words wouldn't come.

His gaze dropped to his palms, his thoughts heavy.

"Was I too strict with my daughters?" he muttered.
