Chapter 32: Is He Deceiving Me or Am I Deceiving Him?
Car~~Chasing~~Qingzi~~orz~~Qingzi, how can I live without you!
On the street, it looked like a real-life retelling of the Boar and Swallow story. With Wang Xing looking so dejected, a few passersby thought he was just another man abandoned by his girlfriend and couldn't help but glance at him sympathetically.
If Wang Xing knew this, he'd probably cough up blood. Being someone's lap dog and never getting dumped like this—wasn't that just an insult?
Meanwhile, in the car, the woman looked at Su Qing, who had his eyes closed in the passenger seat, and a look of delight appeared on her face. She chuckled softly and said, "800 bucks, it was worth it!"
...
The next morning, in a high-end residential area downtown, Su Qing slowly opened his eyes amidst a throbbing headache, filled with confusion. Then he heard a narration in his head.
[The first ray of morning sunlight falls, young man, congratulations on getting a step closer to life's shortcut.]
He was used to it and didn't pay it any mind, but the next second he was stunned because he found that this was not his bedroom.
Looking around, the bedroom was simple yet elegant, with a hint of luxury. The sheets had a fragrance that crept into his nostrils, and most importantly, there was a transparent wardrobe full of women's pajamas—it was unmistakably a woman's room.
At this moment, Su Qing's mind raced, trying to remember what he had done last night and why he was in an unfamiliar place.
But all he remembered was getting into a car. He was already at his limit, and even though he vomited for a while, getting in the car drunk, he totally relaxed and fell asleep.
Still, he vaguely recalled someone helping him walk for a bit, but he felt too dizzy at the time to react.
At that thought, Su Qing's first action was to touch his waist, confirming that his kidneys were still there, which made him sigh with relief. After all, his kidneys were the most valuable things he had.
Just then, the bedroom door opened, and a graceful woman walked in, saying, "Oh, you're awake. Did you sleep well last night?"
The woman's voice was gentle yet intellectual. Her elegant light-colored long dress highlighted her voluptuous figure, adding to her allure. Her hair, while not long, fell past her shoulders with a slight curl. Her face was sophisticated, and her eyes, even without makeup, were strikingly beautiful.
From head to toe, she exuded a mature charm that left Su Qing with only two words in his mind, 'Married... oops, just an impressive lady.'
The woman in front of him perfectly embodied the allure of a mature woman and the essence of a dignified lady.
But none of this mattered. What mattered was, who the heck was she!
Seeing his slightly panicked look, the woman couldn't help but laugh, "What, afraid I'll eat you up? For someone so small, you've got quite the imagination!"
Hearing this, Su Qing snapped back to reality and asked, "Who are you?"
"You forgot me in just a week? That's not good. I know you, Su Qing, right?" the woman said, stepping closer to the bed with a slight lean, smiling.
Upon hearing this, Su Qing frowned. This woman knew him? How could that be: "A week?"
"Yeah, weren't you the one who carried me out of the car, my... little hero?" she said, covering her mouth and chuckling, as if she found her own words amusing.
Indeed, the woman was Shen Yi.
Last night, as she was driving home, she spotted the person she'd been thinking about recently on the roadside. She had seen the video footage and recognized Su Qing's face, so she stopped the car to take a closer look.
It really was him. Otherwise, who would drive a Maserati as a taxi? Even though some people drive fancy cars to deliver food, she didn't have such a hobby.
Faced with this, Su Qing's eyes widened, and he suddenly remembered who this woman was. Given such obvious hints, if he couldn't remember, he'd really be having memory issues for his age.
"Is... is it you?" Su Qing exclaimed, staring hard at her alluring face until he finally remembered.
It wasn't his fault for not reacting earlier. Although she was beautiful, given the situation back then, he hadn't been in the mood to admire her. Plus, the dim light and her blood-covered face made recognition almost impossible.
Besides, so many days had passed that if not for the reminder, he might have completely forgotten what she looked like.
"So, you remember now?" Shen Yi smiled.
Su Qing nodded, "I didn't expect it to be you. Right, how did I end up here?"
Listening to him, Shen Yi's brows slightly arched, clearly enjoying his voice, which, though part of a normal conversation, gave her a tingling sensation.
"It's a long story. Get up, wash up, and let's have breakfast," she said.
"Oh, and your shirt got dirty yesterday. There are no men's clothes here, but I bought a new set and put it in the bathroom; try it on and see if it fits," Shen Yi said before turning to leave, leaving Su Qing sitting bewildered on the bed.
[There aren't many times in life you can change your fate. What's in front of you is a chance to save yourself thirty years of detours. The water here runs deep; whether you can grasp it is up to you.]
Su Qing: ...
Listening to the narration in his head, Su Qing was speechless. Without counting last night, this was only his second meeting with this woman, yet it was the third time the narration had prompted him to take a shortcut. This was clearly trying to lead him astray!
Meanwhile, just as Shen Yi stepped out, she bumped into her assistant.
"President Shen, that kid doesn't look very old. A college student?" The professionally dressed Den Jie, looking to be in her early thirties, teased.
She was Shen Yi's assistant and secretary, a woman with notable work skills. Not particularly pretty, and somewhat plump, she'd been with Shen Yi for several years, allowing for more casual conversation, but only in private.
The previous night when Shen Yi brought someone back, Deng Jie knew and had seen Su Qing's face. Although he was a bit youthful, his appearance was decent, but just that—decent.
Over the years, she had seen many outstanding men around Shen Yi, many with excellent family backgrounds and looks, yet had never seen anyone brought home like this.
Thinking it over, Deng Jie wondered if her boss liked younger guys, hence bringing back a 'little brother.'
"I'm not sure, but judging by his looks, it's possible," Shen Yi said as she went to the dining room to sit and eat the breakfast Deng Jie brought.
Surprised at her direct acknowledgment, Deng Jie couldn't help but say, "My dear President Shen, this is so impulsive! Nowadays, men can be so unreliable, especially the young ones..."
"And what's wrong with the young ones?" Shen Yi asked.
Deng Jie: "You know, don't get scammed out of your money and heart at the same time!"
"Money and heart?" Shen Yi murmured, then asked, "Is he scamming me or am I scamming him?"
Deng Jie: ...
