MY LIFE IN THE FORGOTTEN WORLD!

Chapter 12: Between the Ashes and the Corpses 2

I released the bowstring, and the arrow shot swiftly towards the monster in the lead.

It was a green, short creature holding a dagger in its hand.

The arrow flew towards it, but contrary to my expectations, it didn't pierce the creature. Instead, it raised the dagger it was holding and easily deflected my arrow.

'What? This is the first time I've seen a creature deflect an arrow like that.'

The small green creature smiled at me as if mocking my arrow.

"Calm down, don't let it provoke you."

Jaron said to me before I rushed in recklessly.

"Don't worry, a creature like this won't affect my mind."

Jaron dashed forward and swung his spear at three of these creatures.

Whoosh!

Their heads were swiftly cut off, leaving only their headless bodies standing, and blood gushed out like a fountain, covering Jaron completely.

'Ugh! This is disgusting.'

I spoke as I wiped the blood off my face and turned my attention back to Jaron, who had jumped back.

"Listen to me, climb up that house and help me from a distance."

"Alright, got it."

I quickly ran towards the house Jaron pointed to and climbed up.

"Okay, I'm ready!"

Jaron nodded at me and turned his gaze to the approaching monsters.

(Inner City)

In a spacious and simple room, a man sat on a chair in front of a desk, leaning on his hand, lost in thought.

Tick! Tick! Tick!

Suddenly, someone started knocking on the door, but the man, who appeared to be in his mid-thirties, didn't open his eyes. Instead, he opened his mouth and uttered a single word.

"Enter."

A majestic and calm voice came from his mouth, and the other person opened the door.

A man in his early thirties, wearing a blue military uniform with a white coat over it, and a five-star insignia on his shoulder, entered. He had a large scar running across his left eye, which was closed.

"Sorry for the interruption, General. The northeastern wall of the outer city has been destroyed, and currently, monsters are invading the city."

The scarred man spoke respectfully to the seated man.

Finally, the white-haired man sitting on the chair opened his bright blue eyes.

He slowly rose from his seat and stood at his full height, slightly taller than the scarred man, with a well-trained body.

He went to the corner of the room, took a white coat similar to the scarred man's, and put it on his shoulder.

There was an insignia on the shoulder with seven golden stars.

"Prepare the troops."

"Yes, sir."

The man with the seven-star insignia spoke and left the room.

(Outer City)

Chaos engulfed the entire city. Some areas were consumed by flames, while others were completely frozen.

People were running with all their might to escape this disaster.

However, in the southwestern part of the city, Kaden and Jaron continued their battle against the monsters.

"Jaron! I need arrows!"

I shouted towards Jaron after I ran out of arrows. This wasn't the first time I had run out; I had used so many arrows in this battle that I had lost count.

Jaron was fighting a bear engulfed in flames at that moment.

The bear's eyes had arrows I had shot earlier.

Although I couldn't kill the monsters, while they were fighting Jaron, they couldn't focus on me, so I managed to hit them and help Jaron in this way.

Jaron jumped back, took a stabbing stance, and thrust his spear directly into the bear's midsection.

His spear pierced through the bear's belly, creating a large hole.

Jaron pulled out his spear and moved away from the bear's body as it began to fall.

He quickly jumped towards the house I was on, handed me a large number of arrows, and returned to his battle.

Suddenly, I felt a sense of danger surrounding me, so I closed my eyes and focused.

I sensed a monster directly behind me, sneaking up to attack.

I didn't turn my head to avoid being pounced on directly. Instead, I looked at Jaron and shouted towards him.

"Jaron! Throw your spear at me with all your strength."

Jaron didn't hesitate and threw his spear directly at me.

I lowered my body to dodge the spear. It flew past me with a deafening sound and hit the monster, which looked like a tiger, directly in the head as it leaped to tear me apart.

I looked at the monster that was about to kill me moments ago, took a deep breath, and pulled the spear from its body.

"Jaron! Catch the spear."

Jaron was crushing the heads of the small green creatures with his bare hands.

I threw the spear with all my strength towards Jaron. He caught it directly and swung it, cutting the nearby monsters in half.

'When will this hell end? I'm exhausted.'

My stamina was gradually running out, and I noticed Jaron's movements becoming slower and slower due to fatigue.

'He's fought hundreds of monsters so far, of course, he'd be tired.'

Suddenly, I felt a terrifying sensation. Fear began to spread throughout my body.

I wasn't alone; even the monsters started to panic and run away quickly from the place we were in.

The entire ground was shaking. I couldn't maintain my balance and fell off the house.

Fortunately, Jaron caught me before I hit my head.

"Thank you. Do you feel this too?"

"Yes, something dangerous is coming here."

I looked at Jaron after he put me down, and his eyes were more serious than usual.

All my senses were telling me to run.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

There was the sound of footsteps from a very large creature.

But it wasn't coming from the city; it was coming from outside.

"The sound is coming from behind."

Jaron said these words, and my body relaxed a bit because there was nothing behind us except the wall.

But when I turned my head back, I saw it.

There was a monster—no, this wasn't a monster. This creature surpassed monsters.

The closest and most accurate description would be:

'Demon.'

It was looking at us from above the wall, which was more than 10 meters high, with a giant face.

The face had more than 10 eyes and large tentacles moving beside it.

I quickly regained my senses and realized what it was doing.

"Jaron! Let's move away! It's going to break the wall!"

I shouted towards Jaron and warned him quickly so we could escape, but it was too late.

The giant monster's head moved away from the wall, and moments later, we heard the sound of running from the other side.

"It's going to break the wall, let's move quickly."

Jaron shouted, picked me up on his back, and ran quickly.

I looked back and heard the demon approaching the wall rapidly.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

The monster broke through the wall with its giant body, and large pieces of rock began to fly into the air.

"Watch out, Jaron, a large rock is going to fall on us."

That was the last thing I remembered before I fainted, looking at the giant rock coming towards us.
