Chapter 25: Meeting an Old Friend in a Foreign Land
Chapter 25 Meeting an Old Friend in a Foreign Land
Thursday, morning.
Muzi Technology’s new office area.
Zhang Lan was waiting at the entrance with the staff from the Human Resources Department and the Administrative Department to welcome them.
Men in their early thirties came out of the elevator in a steady stream. They had some common features and their average age was in their early thirties. A few were older, in their fifties or sixties. They had thinning hair on top of their heads and wore glasses, somewhat slovenly.
“This must be it! Muzi Technology?”
“There’s the organizer! This should be it.”
“Let’s keep moving forward. There are a lot of people behind us!”
“Hey! Isn’t this Mr. Four! You’re here too!”

The men who walked in looked around curiously. Zhang Lan and the employees led them to the conference room.
A large group of people rushed over as a few subordinates helped out.
Suddenly, a familiar figure entered Zhang Yang’s sight.
“Senior Brother Chen, is that you? It’s me! Zhang Yang, do you remember me?!” Zhang Yang greeted the figure and asked happily.
“Zhang Yang! You’re in this company?” Chen Yanbin looked at Zhang Yang in surprise and recognized his junior from university.
“That’s right! What a surprise. We haven’t seen each other for more than four years! I didn’t expect to meet you here today. Senior Brother Chen, didn’t you go to the capital to study for your postgraduate degree? Are you also working in Yangcheng now?” Zhang Yang looked at Chen Yanbin, whom he had not seen for many years, and couldn’t help but think of his university life.
Chen Yanbin was an influential figure in university and was extremely outstanding in his studies. He went to Peking University for his fourth-year postgraduate studies. After so many years, Zhang Yang could not help but be overjoyed that the other party still remembered him.
“No, I work at a software company in the capital. I specially took leave today to come over!” Chen Yanbin explained with a smile.
Suddenly, Chen Yanbin thought of something and his eyes lit up. He looked at Zhang Yang and asked with concern, “You work in this company? What position do you hold? Do you know the inside story of the challenge system?”
Hearing this, Zhang Yang was stunned for a moment. He quickly introduced with a smile, “I’m the person in charge of the Cybersecurity Project Department. The breakthrough system you’re talking about should be our company’s new project. Our boss personally arranged this meeting. When the meeting starts, he will personally introduce it to you.”
“Sure! You’re already in charge.” Chen Yanbin looked at Zhang Yang in surprise and begged with a smile, “There’s still some time before the meeting. Can you show me around?”
“This…” Zhang Yang looked at Zhang Lan and asked,” Sister Zhang, how long will President Li be coming over?”
“There are still 20 minutes before the meeting starts. President Li will be here on time!” Zhang Lan glanced at her watch and replied to Zhang Yang. “Yes!” Zhang Yang nodded and smiled at Chen Yanbin. “There’s still some time. Senior Brother Chen, come with me.”
Chen Yanbin nodded and followed Zhang Yang towards the office hall.
The people who had been watching the commotion behind Chen Yanbin could not help but follow closely behind him.
Soon, Zhang Yang led Chen Yanbin and more than ten people behind him into the office hall.
As far as the eye could see, rows of desks were filled with young engineers. Some of them were talking on the phone to clients about projects, while others were busy scrolling through codes. LCD screens filled the space in front of them. They were colorful and code data flowed like a waterfall.
It was very lively and the scene was spectacular.
“This is our largest department, the Project Department. They specialize in solving security loopholes for other companies.” Zhang Yang smiled at Chen Yanbin and gave a simple introduction.
Before Chen Yanbin could say anything, a man behind him suddenly exclaimed, “I know you guys! Muzi Technology! I finally remember that it was you guys who took down the security infiltration project of the Anhai Corporation’s police cloud system.”
“So did I. So you’re the ones who stole our company’s security business.”
“Do you guys use automatic excavation? How accurate is it? By what means? Dynamic loophole-digging technology?”
“Seriously? Have you guys really achieved automatic excavation? For source code? Intelligent excavation?”
Amid gasps, they ran to the programmer’s computer, craning their necks and staring at the LCD screen as the programmer enabled a client-side software to access the monitoring site.
Then a bunch of data boxes popped up. The bug-scanning tool ran automatically, frantically scanning the system data of the test site.
“Automatic infiltration path, automatic exploration of the symbol execution tree, coverage optimization search. My God, what search algorithm did this software use? The difficulties of path merge and redundant path can be automatically resolved.”
“Impressive. This software was definitely created by that person!”
“He definitely used the most advanced AI algorithm. Seeing this software, this visit was worth it!”
Soon, exclamations filled the air with all kinds of technical jargon. After witnessing this automatic bug-scanning software, all the technical big shots were convinced.
“Zhang Yang, who wrote this software? Your boss?” Chen Yanbin looked at Zhang Yang beside him and asked impatiently.
“Yes!” Zhang Yang smiled and nodded. Looking at the visitors who wanted to chase his subordinates down and take their seats to operate the software, he quickly invited them. “It’s almost time. Our boss is coming over. Why don’t I take you to the conference room now?”
Hearing this, everyone gave up on the idea of continuing to watch the vulnerability scan. Knowing that the author of the vulnerability scan software was about to come over, they followed Zhang Yang to the conference room.
In the circular conference room, dozens of solid wooden conference tables and chairs were arranged in a semicircular fashion. A large projection cloth was behind the central podium, and there was a projection cloth on each side.
The conference room was packed and buzzing.
With the arrival of Zhang Yang and the others, those who did not have their own seats could only sit on the plastic chairs in the aisle. The scene was a little crowded.
The people around the participants chatted non-stop. They talked about the questions of the challenge, technical problems, and their nicknames online. They used this opportunity to get to know each other. They had gotten to know each other because of the challenge system. They usually communicated online and it was rare for them to have a chance to communicate offline, so they were very interested in talking.
It was almost time for the meeting to begin when a young lad entered the conference room and went directly to the podium. He fiddled with the notebook on the podium and adjusted the projector’s projection.
The attendees continued to chat casually. No one paid attention to the young man on the podium. In their eyes, this young man was probably the technician in charge of the conference hardware. They simply thought that he was going up to fiddle with the conference equipment.
However, at this moment, the staff in charge of reception at the door suddenly closed the meeting door.
The young man on the podium suddenly stood up straight and looked around at everyone. His demeanor changed and he exuded a different aura.
The conference room fell silent.
