Chapter 5: Parents

Akari and I walked through the door of our house, and set our bags down, letting the door close behind us. The sight that greeted us were our parents sitting on the couch. Our mother had black hair, and fair skin, along with blue eyes. She wore a dark, fuzzy looking robe. Our father sat beside her. He had brown hair, and green eyes, along with tan skin. He wore a blue tank, paired with cargo shorts. They both looked our way as we entered, the shame and disappointment clear in their eyes and expressions. Ever since we got our quirk, they've never treated us correctly, or supported us or anything. In fact, I'm convinced they hate our guts. Suddenly, they both got up from the couch, and came over to us. I braced myself, knowing what would happen. And, sure enough, I was right. They started yelling at us and hitting. They slapped, punched, kicked. At one point, I wasn't even thinking, and that led me to try and struggle away. "You think you can run away, boy?!" Our father yelled, and that made me freeze, realizing what had happened. Before I could blink, he dragged me into the kitchen by my shirts collar, and dug around in the drawers. A second later, he held a knife, and I knew what was going on. Our mother held Akari back as he tried to rush forward and help me. I didn't have time to brace myself before our father slashed at me, dragging the knife across my cheek, my nose, and stopping only when it reached the other side if my face. I held back my screams of pain, and he roughly shoved me away, making me fall on the floor, a hand covering one side of my face. My breathing was quick and clearly panicked, but they couldnt care less. "Get out of my sight, you monster." I scrambled to my feet, and made my way to the bathroom, searching frantically for the medkit once I did. A minute later, Akari joined me, and he made me sit down so he could take care of me. He cleaned the wound, then frowned. "Ki....it's really deep..." He told me, concern and worry written on his face. "J-just get it o-over with..." I stuttered out, still a bit scared from the recent events. He nodded and prepped everything. "Here we go..." He muttered to himself, then started stitching. I flinched here and there, but didn't protest.
