Chapter 9: CHA Strikes Tokyo
(So Class 1-A - 1-B got sent to Tokyo because the cha attacked)
Tokyo's neon skyline shimmered under the moonlight as Class 1-A descended into the city. A new villain group, calling themselves the CHA (Chaos Havoc Alliance), had emerged and were causing chaos in the crowded streets. Though they were self-proclaimed villains, the intel from Pro Heroes warned that their quirks were nothing to underestimate.
The class was divided into pairs for this mission, with each duo assigned to different parts of the city. Kikidori found himself paired with Todoroki, their contrasting personalities forming an odd but effective team.
"I'll take lead," Todoroki said as the two walked through an abandoned subway station, their assigned search zone.
Kikidori nodded silently, keeping his eyes sharp for any signs of danger. He preferred not to talk unless absolutely necessary, which Todoroki seemed to appreciate.
Suddenly, the sound of slow clapping echoed through the dimly lit tunnels.
"Well, well. If it isn't a pair of UA's finest," a deep voice taunted.
A man stepped out of the shadows, his appearance unsettling. His long, dark hair was slicked back, and his crimson eyes seemed to glow with a sinister light. He smirked, his confidence radiating as he addressed them.
"My name is Chamora," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "And I hope you're ready to spill your guts, literally and figuratively."
Todoroki immediately stepped forward, summoning fire in one hand and ice in the other. "Stand down, or we'll make you."
Chamora chuckled, shaking his head. "You don't understand, do you? My quirk isn't something you can block with fire or ice."
He raised his hand, and a wave of energy rippled through the air. Kikidori and Todoroki both staggered as an overwhelming compulsion took hold of them.
"What's… happening?" Kikidori muttered, his voice strained.
"You're in my domain now," Chamora said, his smirk widening. "My quirk forces you to speak your deepest, darkest secrets. It's amazing how quickly people fall apart when their hidden truths are exposed."
Kikidori gritted his teeth, his mind racing. He tried to resist, but the compulsion was too strong.
"I don't… feel anything for anyone," Kikidori said abruptly, his voice betraying his normally stoic demeanor. His green and blue eyes widened in shock. He hadn't meant to say that.
Todoroki's expression tightened. "I don't… I don't know how to feel about my father… I hate him, but I want him to see me…"
Chamora laughed, circling them like a predator stalking its prey. "Ah, there it is. Isn't it freeing to finally be honest? Let's hear more, shall we?"
Kikidori glared at him, his eyes glowing faintly as he activated his quirk. He didn't care if his own secrets came out—he was determined to stop this man.
"I'm afraid of getting close to anyone," Kikidori said through clenched teeth as he launched a shadowy tendril at Chamora. The villain dodged with ease, his laughter echoing through the tunnel.
"And I push people away," Todoroki added, his voice shaking as he unleashed a wave of ice toward Chamora. "Because I'm scared they'll hurt me…"
Chamora dodged again, his grin growing wider. "This is better than I expected. Two powerful heroes brought to their knees by their own truths. Pathetic."
Kikidori exchanged a glance with Todoroki, both of them breathing heavily.
"We can't let him keep control," Kikidori said. "We need to overwhelm him."
Todoroki nodded, his flames flaring brighter. "Agreed. I'll take the lead this time."
As Todoroki charged forward, Kikidori activated his quirk fully, the glowing in his eyes intensifying. He focused on Chamora, sending a wave of nightmare-inducing energy toward the villain.
Chamora's smug expression faltered as shadows began to twist and writhe around him, forming into horrifying shapes. For the first time, he looked uncertain.
"What… what is this?" he stammered, his composure cracking.
"It's your turn to face the truth," Kikidori said coldly.
Todoroki seized the opportunity, launching a powerful combination of fire and ice at Chamora. The attack struck him head-on, sending him crashing into the wall of the tunnel.
Chamora groaned, slumping to the ground as the effects of his quirk faded.
Kikidori and Todoroki stood over him, their breathing heavy but victorious.
"You talk too much," Kikidori said, his voice low.
Todoroki glanced at him, a small smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "That's one thing we can agree on."
The two of them turned to leave, ready to regroup with the rest of the class. Though the battle had been won, the secrets they had shared lingered in the air, unspoken but understood.
Some truths couldn't be ignored, no matter how hard they tried.
