Chapter 1: Prologue (Chapter 1)
In a city shrouded in black smoke, the surroundings lay in ruins. On the rooftop of a dilapidated building, a white beam of light descended from the sky. When the light dissipated, a boy lay there, unconscious. He appeared to be about fifteen or sixteen years old, with fair skin and a strikingly handsome face.
The boy slowly opened his eyes. Above him, black smoke hung like ominous clouds. He quickly sat up and checked his body, finding no injuries or discomfort. Confusion settled in. **Shouldn't I be attending the comic convention party?** he thought.
The boy's name was Alex Carter. His parents had named him with the hope that he would grow up to be someone heroic, someone who would bring light to the world.
"What's going on?" Alex muttered as he stumbled to the edge of the rooftop. Below, the streets were in shambles. Broken buildings and crumbled roads stretched out before him. The distant sound of cries and explosions filled the air, painting a scene of chaos and despair.
It wasn't just this area. As far as he could see, everything looked destroyed. Fire erupted in the distance, and towering plumes of smoke rose into the sky. It wasn't like a war between countries—it was something far worse.
Alex's heart pounded. Everything about the scene felt surreal, like a nightmare he couldn't wake up from. **Why am I here? What's happening?**
"The world you're seeing now is five years into the future…"
A calm, steady voice interrupted Alex's thoughts. He whipped around to find an old man with white hair and a long beard standing beside him. It was as if he'd appeared out of thin air. Instinctively, Alex stepped back, eyeing the stranger warily. "Who are you?"
The old man turned to face him with a gentle smile, his expression radiating kindness. He looked like someone's kindly grandfather. "Don't worry about who I am. I've come to give you something."
"Something for me?" Alex frowned, unable to feel fear despite the bizarre situation. The old man's presence was oddly reassuring, almost like a family member.
"Yes," the man said, raising a hand. A glowing golden orb appeared and floated toward Alex, stopping in front of his palm. "Take it. Use its power to survive. Work hard, grow stronger, and prepare to face the other three who are like you. Remember, you are in opposing camps, so always stay vigilant."
The golden orb sank into Alex's right hand, leaving behind a faint golden dot on his palm and a circular symbol on the back of his hand.
"What… what is this?" Alex asked, staring at his hand in disbelief. He turned it over repeatedly, trying to make sense of the glowing marks.
The old man only smiled warmly. Then, without another word, he dissolved into particles of light and vanished.
"Wait!" Alex reached out in desperation. "You didn't tell me what this is for!" But the old man was gone.
A loud explosion interrupted his thoughts. Alex spun around to see flames erupting from a nearby street. Emerging from the fire was a tall figure clad in a black cloak. Beneath his short hair, the man's sharp, eagle-like eyes locked onto Alex.
The intensity of those eyes made Alex freeze. It was as if every secret he had was laid bare, leaving him exposed and defenseless. His heart raced. **Terrifying… too terrifying!**
Before Alex could move, another figure appeared. A woman with long white hair and piercing silver eyes walked out from the opposite end of the street. Her tight-fitting jumpsuit, striped in white and gray, accentuated her cold, commanding presence. Her beauty was like ice—stunning yet untouchable.
Alex's breath caught as he watched her. Just then, he noticed a third person standing on a nearby rooftop. This man, with his blue, slicked-back hair and casual attire, was calmly observing Alex. His gaze was unreadable, but the slight smirk on his lips sent a chill down Alex's spine.
The two men and one woman turned their attention to Alex, their expressions unreadable yet unsettling. Then, they all smiled—a knowing, sinister smile.
Before Alex could react, the scene around him began to shift. The black smoke dissipated, replaced by a clear blue sky. Buildings that had been reduced to rubble rebuilt themselves as if time were rewinding. The figures disappeared, leaving Alex alone in a world rapidly returning to normalcy.
When everything stopped, Alex felt a sharp pain in his head. A flood of information surged into his mind, and for the first time, he understood everything.
I've been reincarnated… and entered the world of *My Hero Academia*!
Alex recognized the setting from the anime, a story about a boy without a Quirk who becomes a hero through sheer determination. In this world, superpowers—known as Quirks—are the norm, and nearly everyone awakens their abilities by the age of four.
The chaotic scene he'd witnessed was five years into the future, a time when society would collapse into darkness. The two men and the woman were fellow time travelers, but they weren't allies. Like him, they were rookies—fresh to this world and just beginning to develop their powers.
As Alex processed everything, he instinctively focused on his palm. A soft glow emanated from the golden dot. Energy flowed through his body, filling him with a strange but exhilarating power.
This was his Quirk, " Holy Light ". It was still in its early stages, but its potential was immense. With training, Alex could use it to create shields, armor, and energy-based weapons. The glowing circle on the back of his hand acted as a system interface, displaying his stats and progress.
