Chapter 36
The transfer to Cheese brought quite a lot of changes for me.
Well, to be precise, it wasn’t just the transfer itself, but the side effects that occurred during the process that brought about the changes. A prime example would be the opening of a YouTube channel.

I’ve been uploading one video a day that I made before the channel even opened, along with some shorts here and there. The response has been surprisingly good.
Honestly, when I was starting my YouTube channel, I thought it would be lucky if I ever hit 5,000 subscribers. I assumed views would be non-existent too.
But starting with the video where I gave advice in the Counseling Room, the reaction has been better than expected, and the videos where I played famous games have surprisingly started to gather views thanks to the algorithm.
Since then, I’ve been covering songs I sang during my streams and uploading funny moments in shorts, and I’ve already gained around 8,000 subscribers in just over a week, which is astounding.
“Such a ridiculous reaction, haha!”
“I’ve never seen someone enjoy Souls games this much, lol.”
The comments have been pretty good too. Especially when I played games, many people enjoyed my genuine shock or got a kick out of my frustration moments.
“That’s some real advice right there.”
“Why would you pocket trash someone threw at you?”
“It’s nice to feel your serious attitude in the counseling… I’m subscribing now since this is my first time.”
And the most unexpected were the comments below the Counseling Room video.
To begin with, I don’t have much life experience or wisdom to boast of, and I don’t operate the Counseling Room thinking that everything I say is necessarily correct.
So, I was fully expecting critical comments about my potentially wrong opinions, and indeed, there were a few.
However, most people praised my attitude while listening to the viewers’ stories and reacted positively, saying that my responses were satisfying, which left me a bit stunned.
Originally, I approached the content with a vague hope that even someone like me could help someone else, and realizing that many people were truly accepting of it filled me with immense gratitude.
At the very least, I felt that what I was doing wasn’t wrong, and that joy alone gave me the motivation to work hard going forward.
“Mom – That first video you posted was fun, right?”
“Mom – When’s the next Counseling Room coming out?”
“Me – It’ll probably be up in three days.”
“Me – The Editor has a lot of work.”
However, it was a bit embarrassing how my surroundings reacted.
Especially, while my parents don’t really watch my live streams or pay much attention, as soon as they heard I made a YouTube channel, they subscribed and have been diligently watching my videos.
My dad left a short compliment saying he liked that I didn’t swear too much in my gameplay videos, whereas my mom has been whining since a few days ago about when the next Counseling Room is coming out.
It seems that my Counseling Room, which allows her to hear about other people’s complicated relationships, is quite enjoyable for her, given how familiar she is with K-dramas.
“Mom – By the way, why don’t you show your face like other people?”
“Mom – Everything’s great, but it feels bland since your face isn’t showing.”
That was bearable, but the problem arose when she started finding other streamers and noticed that hardly any male streamers don’t turn on their cams. Now she’s nagging me to do a cam stream.
“Me – What do I need to show my ugly face for?”
“Mom – You’re not ugly! What’s wrong with my son’s face?”
“Me – To parents, their children’s faces must always look the best.”
She shows a bit of this infatuation towards me when it comes to my sister, but she’s also urging me to turn on my cam with great enthusiasm.
If I only had my sister’s looks, I would’ve turned it on long ago. But when I look in the mirror after seeing my sister, all I see is a squid standing inside, so what confidence would I have to turn it on?
“Me – Anyway, I need to get into my stream, so I’ll contact you later.”
“Mom – Okay~ Come by the house sometime.”
“Me – If I have the time.”
We both know that despite saying this, I’ll likely sneak home only during holidays. Still, I guess not nagging might be her way of showing consideration.
Crack.
“Ugh…!”
After stretching my body like all my bones were breaking as usual, I began preparing for the stream.
“Meow.”
“You got treats today, so no more.”
“Meow….”
Maybe I left the door slightly ajar; Woo-yu, who had entered the room, whimpered for snacks, but I firmly shook my head. Then he quickly dropped his head.
I definitely feel like he understands human speech.
“If you’re bored, want to join my stream with Dad?”
“Meow…!”
With a heart of hope, I patted my thighs while sitting down, and Woo-yu jumped up onto me in delight.
Wait, is he really understanding me?
This is a problem; I only said it jokingly.
“Meow.”
“…Okay, just sleep well.”
As I debated whether to put him down or not, Woo-yu laid his belly right onto my thighs and closed his eyes.
His fierce determination to not leave was evident, and I had no choice but to give up and start the stream with Woo-yu on my lap.
Ugh, he’ll get down on his own when he gets bored.
By the way, this is the first time I’m starting a stream with Woo-yu.
【‘Cosmo’ started streaming.】
‘Streaming with Woo-yu’
As I was pondering what to title today’s stream, I happened to see Woo-yu sprawled over my thighs, and I decided to go with it.
I had casually mentioned on the stream that I had a cat and that its name was Woo-yu, so the viewers probably all know about it.
Once, they made such a fuss about wanting to see pictures that I uploaded some on Twip.
In a way, Woo-yu is practically a veteran of cam streams.
【CosmoAbsoluteProtect】- Koha!
【Passing App Dungi】- Koha! Where did Woo-yu go?
【White Forest】- I rushed in to hear Woo-yu’s voice!
【K-HipHopTopCosmo】- Where’s Woo-yu?
As expected, as soon as the stream started, the viewers hurried to find Woo-yu before even acknowledging me, the host.
Seeing this reaction coming, I gently stroked the head of Woo-yu, who was perched on my thigh, and brought the mic closer.
“Meow.”
As soon as his cry echoed, the chat started buzzing at an impressive speed.
【Pink Rabbit】- Woo-yu!!!
【Catfish With Salmon】- Don’t need a cam stream from the host, just give us Woo-yu, damn it.
【Allfreed】- If you don’t show us Woo-yu fast, I’ll sue you for something, something…
At this point, it felt like I had an audience for Woo-yu rather than for myself.
It might not happen, but if I ever do turn on the cam, I think viewers would rather see Woo-yu’s face than mine in real-time.
I don’t even know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
【‘CosmoAbsoluteProtect’ donated 100,000 cheese!】
– Use this to buy Woo-yu some cute snacks, please.
“What? Chairman! Why would you give 100,000 for snacks for Woo-yu…!”
As I stroked Woo-yu’s chin while playing, once again, the Chairman’s generous donation flowed in smoothly today.
Offering 100,000 just for Wooyou’s snack money, I was filled with admiration bubbling up from my heart.
“Woo-yu, quickly thank the Chairman. He donated 100,000 for your treats.”
【Kokkiyaho】- How’s Woo-yu supposed to understand that? Haha.
【Bera666】- I’m reporting for proxy reactions.
【Whirlwind Flower 2】- Sorry but…
Even though they can’t see it without a cam, demanding a reaction while propping up Woo-yu’s behind led to more accusatory comments in the chat.
Seriously, if I received 100,000, shouldn’t even a cat show at least one reaction? What are you treating me like? Huh?
Whoosh.
“Meow!”
“Whoa!?”
While I was in the middle of thinking about spending that treat money on myself, Woo-yu suddenly leaped onto the desk and began spinning in circles.
It’s that classic cat behavior where they chase their own tails and spin around in place, exactly that.
Seizing the opportunity, I grabbed my phone and started recording the scene.
“Guys! Woo-yu’s reacting right now! I’ll upload this video to the café.”
【CosmoAbsoluteProtect】- Really?
【White, Red, Black】- Is he actually doing it? Hahaha.
【Cro-Magnon】- A rookie monster, whoa.
【Lucid Dream 7】- At this point, he’s not even a cat, right? For real.
Whoa, I was surprised too. Of course, I knew Woo-yu was smart, but I never expected him to throw in a reaction too.
At this point, I’d say Woo-yu definitely deserved that treat money. Alright, as promised, I’ll get him snacks worth 100,000.
Just as the cozy atmosphere was building thanks to Woo-yu’s performance,
【Wilting Flower】- Damn it, Cheese ranking is still not fixed.
A chat from a viewer with a nickname I often see caught my eye.
This person usually isn’t the type to make irrelevant comments on the stream, and they seem to lack common sense for that matter, so I squinted my eyes.
Ranking? What’s happening with Cheese?
“Why? Is something wrong with the Cheese ranking?”
Unable to contain my curiosity, I shot the question, and the chat started flooding in rapidly.
It seemed that the viewers already knew what was going on.
【Kokkiyaho】- You didn’t know? It’s chaos because of viewbots right now.
【ChuuChuu】- Exit and other streamers look really mad about it too.
【Neighboring Hanis’s Life】- If you’re curious, check the ranking chart.
Viewbot.
It’s a program commonly used in the streaming community to manipulate various metrics like viewer counts and followers to aim for rankings and visibility unnaturally.
In reality, this is inseparable from the streaming genre, but usually, being caught means a permanent ban on that platform, so very few dare to use it, considering the risks.
Even if you somehow entered the top ranks through this, if an unheard-of streamer suddenly shot up to the rankings, viewers and the management would catch on immediately.
So, it’s something that almost fell out of use, and someone is actually using it?
“What is this?”
I thought there might be a misunderstanding and immediately switched to the Cheese main screen to check the ranking chart from the top.
And what I found first was a scene where I had never even heard of streamers standing shoulder to shoulder with top-tier corporate streamers like Exit and Hanyang in similar ranks.
