Chapter 53 - Knife?
After the matchups were set, we entered into a sort of informal meeting.
Since a private room had already been created and invites had been sent out, we were in a position to start the game at any time, but we hadn’t begun yet, as the commentators seemed to still have some things to discuss.
“First of all, the opponent team’s rank is… hmm… higher than I thought. This is riskier since there won’t be any one-man-show carries.”
As Gunkoo pointed out, the opponent team’s rank was unexpectedly high.
It seemed like they’d organized their team with victory in mind, having one Silver player, three Gold players, and one Platinum player.
“I’ll take care of the Silver! I believe the rest of you can handle the rest!”
“Well, you’re almost headed for Silver yourself, so go for it.”
“What?! Isn’t anyone going to stop this? And since when am I Silver? I’m still a healthy Gold 3!”
“That guy’s basically a Gold 4 wannabe.”
“Hey!”
We were planning our strategy so intensely that the game eventually began.
“…What’s this?”
The map was Bank, and our team had banned roamers and snipers, but the opponent’s bans were unusual.
“Why… aren’t they banning anything?”
The ban pick was so odd that it even made Chocoa raise an eyebrow in confusion.
No ban.
Without banning anything, the opponent team moved straight into the operator selection screen.
-knife?
“…Knife fight?”
There’s a melee attack in Lesik where, aside from shield operators, most melee attacks are knives. When used correctly, a knife attack can silently kill an opponent in one strike, but guns are still better. After all, if you get shot, you’re done.
But the opponent team had proposed a knife fight.
“Wow, they’re making this game so fun! A knife fight sounds exciting!”
Yoon Gae was thrilled at the idea of a knife fight happening in a tournament, and Gunkoo calmly asked us if we agreed. Ninima, who couldn’t shoot well anyway, was actually happy about it, and Chocoa shared a similar sentiment as she accepted the proposal. With Chocoa’s acceptance, I also agreed.
-knife.
-good 🙂
We were on defense, so we equipped the lightest, fastest gear possible for the knife fight. As the game began, we all dropped our guns and stepped outside.
Boom-
Every green barricade was blown apart by grenades, but during the prep phase, the defending team couldn’t go outside.
Buzzzzz-
But five drones rolled up from outside and whizzed around, entertainingly filling the otherwise boring prep time.
Round 1, start.
With the round message, we rushed outside and saw four black figures and one tan-colored one slowly approaching from a distance.
-stay to round
Incidentally, don’t expect to see any Korean text in Lesik.
Following Yoon Gae, who was visibly excited, and the orders of the opposing team, we experienced the rare sight of ten players forming a circle, each holding only knives in an FPS game where guns are usually the norm. One operator in tan-colored clothes, Yesmad, took out a gun, but only Ninima and Chocoa flinched, while Gunkoo’s aim stayed firmly on the center of the ground among the ten players.
Clang—
Bang!!!
The air blasted out, creating a grandiose atmosphere, and the fierce fight began.
Screams erupted from every corner. Yoon Gae, who was the loudest and most eager, was the first to fall, which quieted the battlefield in an instant, and we quickly formed a new formation.
So far, our team had only lost one, leaving us outnumbered 5:4, which was a significant disadvantage in a knife fight. The opponent team also seemed to pause, simply standing in a line watching us.
Step—
One member stepped forward from their side. Judging by the nickname, it was the lowest-ranked Silver player, but that only applied to gunfights, not knife fights.
The player readied themselves and motioned for us to come forward with a finger.
“…I’ll go. Even though our poor Yoon Gae has fallen, I won’t go down foolishly like him!”
Ninima declared boldly and stepped forward. This was going to be a fun match to watch.

Ninima POV
I wasn’t really an FPS player. Mostly because I wasn’t any good at it.
I once dedicated myself to FPS practice as a YouTube content idea, but it didn’t make any difference. Every shot felt like it veered off to avoid hitting the opponent, and Lesik’s unique difficulty was overwhelming for me, though I wanted to get good at it.
“Seriously… Yoon Gae, the fool…”
My expertise lies in RPGs. Generally, I played peaceful RPGs, but I’d also played intense, combat-heavy ones. I’d fired guns and wielded knives, though not in first-person view. In survival RPGs, maintaining the right distance was crucial to avoid getting hit while being able to land my attacks—my specialty. I couldn’t see the chat now, but if I could, it would probably be filled with reactions like:
-Ohhhhhh
-Here it comes!
I grinned… basking in my imaginary cheers… then ducked.
Swish—
A sharp, short blade sliced through the air above Ninima’s head.

Lee Suyeon POV
“Oh…”
Ninima’s reaction time was better than expected. They had just been standing still without taking a stance, so I’d wondered what was up, but as soon as the opponent swung their knife, Ninima ducked to avoid it. Ninima then suddenly sprang up.
As Ninima’s blade made contact with the opponent’s torso, the opponent’s foot connected with Ninima’s torso, and both took a hit before backing off to square up again.
It was as if they were the only two here, completely ignoring any threat around them, just carefully repositioning themselves while keeping an eye on each other. Before we knew it, their positions had reversed from the start. Now, right in front of me was the opponent in a black mask, clutching his stomach.
“Prepare to die!”
With Ninima’s shout, they charged. The opponent followed suit, and in the middle, their knives met with a metallic clash, echoing a rare sound in Lesik. But being so close meant someone was going to die.
The knife in Ninima’s right hand was slowly creeping towards their opponent. Both were so focused on that encroaching knife that if one of them attacked from elsewhere, they’d win.
“Ugh… I can’t get the right angle to push!”
“Lie down.”
Ninima briefly hesitated at my words before lying back. With that sudden move, the opponent, who had been struggling to hold back Ninima’s knife, was caught off guard, and Ninima used the opportunity to reverse their positions, toppling the opponent.
Thud!
The opponent hit the ground, and Ninima pinned down the hand holding the knife with one hand, leaving Ninima’s own knife free.

The round ended shortly after the intense battle concluded.
“Wow… that was amazing! Great job!”
“Oh… thank you… this is fun. Can we play the remaining rounds as knife fights?”
“…I don’t see why not; we’re here to enjoy the game.”
“Hey! Why didn’t I get to enjoy it?! I’m going out there next!”
Our team requested another knife fight, and the opponent team gladly accepted.
“Since the tournament has five rounds, only three people will get to fight. Anyone want to volunteer?”
“Meeeeee!!! I have to go next!”
Yoon Gae yelled, and no one else’s words could be heard over him.
“Hmm… then next round, let’s have me or Baraa go. Since you’re still new to Lesik, it wouldn’t be fair to throw you straight into a knife fight.”
“Then… can I go?”
“Yes, so Yoon Gae will go next. Though he’ll probably die.”
Yoon Gae, already fated for a likely demise, didn’t complain but confidently boasted.
“Hah! Just trust me! I’ll kill them all and save you from boredom!”
“Sure~ Round 4, between Rat Hole and the Dog Head Master!”
-Lol Round 4 is nuts lololol
-Huh, what’s going on?
-They’re having a knife fight, and both teams are insanely skilled. Probably because it’s a team of all top players.
“Round 4 is…”
The caster, who had been steadily narrating the game, paused and moved the mouse urgently.
“Now, we’re in for something interesting. Round 4, in front of the bank entrance! It’s a tournament-style match where losers drop out.”
-Wow, camera angle is on point
-A knife fight in a tournament lololololol
-And they’re all using basic characters, it’s so nostalgic lol
“Alright, let’s sneak a peek into Rat Hole team’s stream.”
The audio volume jumped as the caster clicked around a few times.
“Kyaaaaaa!!! Someone’s gonna die!!!”
-Oh God, so cute
-Yun Ba Gae!
-What’s happening?
“Uh… the current… situation is…”
-?? Why is he in such a messed-up state?
The broadcast showed a pretty beaten-up Yoon Gae. His non-ballistic armor was torn all over, and red stains were blooming across his entire body. With every step he took, bloody footprints appeared on the ground, and his knife was already gone.
On the other side was Platinum 4, High Tension, nicknamed Haten, the highest-ranked player. Not a drop of blood marred his body, but blood dripped from the knives in both his hands.
“Kyaaahhh! Aaaah!”
With a swift strike, Haten ended Yoon Gae’s life and then tossed his knife back at what was once Yoon Gae before returning to his team.
-Die Yun! Die Yun! Die Yun!
Step—
As Haten resumed his stance, someone walked out from the opposite side.
The nickname read Barcode.
