Chapter 39 - Not a Student, But Still Got Dragged Into This
“Ughhhh…”
After a rather satisfying promotion match, I stood up from the chair, stretching lightly as I twisted my back.
“Hmm… hmmm… aaah… ahem…”
I went to the kitchen, drank a glass of water, and swallowed a pill.
“Ugh.”
The bitterness of the pill lingered on my tongue, making me grimace as I turned off the kitchen light and went back to my room.
“………”
The computer was already off, and the small bed, wardrobe—all were familiar sights. But there was the white furry lump on the little bed and a large window next to the wardrobe.
I slowly approached the window.
A large moon hung in the dark sky; though no stars were visible in the city, memories of countless starry nights in the countryside flickered through my mind like a movie.
After a few minutes of gazing outside, I hugged Strawberry and fell asleep.
“Nyaa~ nyaaa~”
“Ugh… what’s going on…”
It felt like only a few seconds had passed since I lay down, but why could I see the sunrise creeping up from afar?
I consoled Strawberry, who was crying on top of me, and checked the time on my phone.
6:37 a.m.
“………haa… yaawn…”
Yawning, I slowly lifted myself up.
“Are you hungry…?”
I wasn’t entirely sure, but I guessed that a kitten would cry mostly out of hunger. I held Strawberry and asked, and in response, she cried again. It seemed that the idea that I was her servant in charge of her meals had fully sunk in. Being a girl, does that make me more of a… maid?
I pushed aside the strange thoughts popping into my head, went to the bathroom, and washed my face, feeling more awake.
“Hm…”
My voice still wouldn’t come out properly, so I tapped Strawberry’s bowl and poured an appropriate amount of kibble into it.
-Meow!
“Oh, right…”
I placed Strawberry’s food bowl down in the living room, and when I set her on the floor, she dashed over and started eating. I filled her water bowl and took some clothes with me into the bathroom.
After drying my hair, I noticed that it was just past 7 a.m.
“Let’s go out~”
After finishing her meal, Strawberry followed me around as I bustled about. I scooped her up in one hand, packed up what I needed, and left the house.
Beep, beep, beep, beep-
Without needing to go the full thirty minutes, I took a few steps and entered my younger sister’s house.
The house was still silent and dark. I set Strawberry down on the floor and turned on the kitchen light.
I set up the various ingredients and cooking tools I’d brought from home in the kitchen, then quickly washed my hands.
Srrk…
I took out my long-used kitchen knife, the one I brought from the family home, and set up the cutting board and ingredients.
“Get up… ahem… come on…”
“………….”
My voice wasn’t coming out properly, and my sibling showed no signs of waking up.
“Hmm… Strawberry?”
Right on cue, Strawberry had wandered into my sister’s room after exploring the living room, kitchen, and bathroom, and I got a good idea.
Poke… poke…
Using Strawberry’s little paw, I pressed it onto my sibling’s cheek.
“…Kit… ten…?”
Slowly, my sister’s eyes opened, instantly realizing what was pressing on them.
Poke-
I placed Strawberry on top of my sibling and had her press down on their cheek.
“…Sis…”
Only then did my sibling sit up, rubbing their eyes and hugging Strawberry.
“Time to eat…”
“Alright… Unnie, your voice… yawn… might take a while to come back…”
My sister cradled Strawberry like a doll and came into the kitchen.
“Here.”
Eunah greeted us with a strange hand gesture and a short greeting when we entered the kitchen.
“…Looks like you’re going somewhere today…”
My sister set Strawberry down on the table, where she wriggled about, and sat down.
“Of course, I am a college student, after all.”
After having breakfast with Eunah, who fit in so naturally, she took a quick sip of her coffee and bolted out the door.
“Thanks! I’m off!”
“Okay…”
“I should get going too…”
“Do you need to pack anything…?”
“Uh… P.E. clothes? But I think I packed them yesterday, so I should be fine.”
Hearing there was P.E. today, I pulled out a bottle of water from the fridge and handed it to her.
“Thanks, I’ll head out now.”
I watched my sister leave to start their sophomore year of high school, waving them off before I started tidying up the house.
I finished washing the dishes and was running the vacuum when I noticed something.
“…?”
Strawberry, seemingly disturbed by the loud noise of the vacuum, huddled in the corner of the living room, eyeing the vacuum warily. I tried to clean as slowly as possible to give Strawberry space to avoid the vacuum.
“……..”
In my sister’s room, I noticed the P.E. clothes boldly draped over the chair. With a sigh, I started thinking about what to do next.
The time was 8:20, close to when I needed to get ready for my shift at the cafe.
I took out my phone and cautiously called the Manager.
-What’s up?
“Um… Manager… um…”
I was considering how to start when the Manager spoke first.
-Your…! What’s wrong with your voice? Are you sick?!
“Huh…? Oh, no… it’s just a mild sore throat…”
-Okay, take a few days off, and call me when you’re better! Gotta go!
“Wait… uh…”
The call ended abruptly, and I stared at the now-dark screen in a daze.
“…………..Mmm-hmm…”
With this unexpected forced vacation, I quickly finished cleaning, grabbed Strawberry and the P.E. clothes, and went back to my place.
“Meow!!”
“Strawberry…”
I planned to drop off the P.E. clothes at my sibling’s school, but Strawberry seemed unwilling to let me leave.
She clung to my leg as if she knew I was about to leave and had no intention of letting go.
“………..”
In the end, Strawberry nestled in my arms as we headed to my sibling’s school.
“Ugh…”
Since it was still morning, the chilly breeze sent a shiver through me, as I was only in a short-sleeve shirt. My arms, where Strawberry lay, weren’t cold, but all my other exposed skin felt freezing.
“………..”
I glanced at the P.E. clothes in my other hand.
“Ah, warm.”
Praying for forgiveness for breaking into my sister’s place this morning and borrowing their clothes without permission, I continued walking to the school.
“Nyaa~”
Nestled in the P.E. clothes, Strawberry made the walk to school much less lonely.

Lee Minyoung POV
“Huh…?”
Wait, I was sure I packed my P.E. clothes yesterday…
The second day of my sophomore year in high school, and already, there was a problem. Most people would probably let it slide if I said I forgot on the first day, but our P.E. teacher was infamous. Last year, students who forgot their P.E. clothes were made to run five laps around the track—no exceptions.
“…No one I can borrow from… sigh…”
While I sighed, the homeroom teacher came in and started with the usual boring introductions and greetings.
“Alright… Lee… Minyoung, introduce yourself.”
Eventually, my turn arrived, and I stood up, ready with a simple greeting.
“My name is Lee Minyoung. Please take care of me.”
Clap clap clap clap-
I heard light applause and some murmurs.
-Ugh… I’m in the same class as her… What do I do…?
-Shut up, I’m in the same situation.
Minyoung was already known in school for her icy demeanor, with nearly every male student who confessed being coldly rejected. She thought the room just got a little noisy before sitting back down, still not understanding why she’d received so many confessions.
“Then… next, Yoon Si-ha.”

Lee Suyeon POV
“Ugh…”
The closer I got to the school, the more attention I seemed to draw. Much more than usual.
Regretting not bringing a hat, I wondered why I was drawing more attention than usual.
Was it because I looked like a high schooler…? They wouldn’t have seen hair or eyes like this… But that’s the same as always… Why’s there even more…?
Glancing around, I realized why I was getting all this attention.
P.E. uniform.
The dark-colored P.E. clothes had my sibling’s school logo emblazoned right on it. Anyone seeing me could think that, on my first day, I’d dyed my hair white, put in bright red contacts, and wore P.E. clothes with no bag, just looking like a delinquent.
I hurriedly tried to take off the P.E. clothes.
Of course, it was really just because Su-yeon was attractive and caught everyone’s attention, but that thought didn’t cross his mind at all.
“Hey!”
“Y-Yes?!”
As I was about to take off the clothes, a loud voice called from up ahead, making me flinch and look forward.
In front of me was a large school gate, and standing there with arms crossed, a middle-aged man in a blue P.E. uniform, holding a long wooden stick.
“Y
-Yes, you mean me…?”
“Yeah, you. Are you a new student?”
“Ah… no…”
“Huh… Then are you a transfer student? What’s up with that hair color?! And what did you do to your eyes!! Where’s your uniform? Hurry up and tell me your name.”
He said this while pulling out a list of tardy students.
“I… um… I don’t go here…”
“Stop with the weird talk! Name, grade, and class!”
It looked like it would take a while to clear up this misunderstanding.

Lee Minyoung POV
The overly large school gate, the familiar sidewalk. Among the groaning undergrad students and even more miserable grad students, I made my daily trek to campus.
“Sigh… I could use some coffee.”
I regretted not grabbing an extra one that Su-yeon made earlier as I trudged along, watching a curious but familiar scene.
People, seemingly determined to avoid someone, subtly steered away from them. At the center of it all was a tall woman with short hair and a striking, cold expression—an extraordinarily beautiful woman.
The Ice Witch.
I casually approached the Ice Witch that no one else dared go near.
“Long time no see, Senior.”
