Chapter 593
"I have a horse! Why can't they let me use it!" Mauri, one of the three ladies in Anton's squad, complained, although softly so that Captain Leonard, who was ahead of them, wouldn't hear.
"I know! We walking, or marching as they say, would give us some form of unity or something, sounds like bullshit to me," Fran, the third lady in the squad, added.
"My boots are going to get ruined. Look at Anton? He's freaking floating! That's so unfair!" Suvina added.
"Is that all we're going to hear from you all the way to Mendoza? You ladies complaining?" Menard whispered, but the three ladies overheard him and glared at him.
"They can't help it. All of us we're suffering through this walk while Anton is just floating around," Aldos said.
The girls all nodded, confirming that what Aldos had said was right.
Anton laughed.
"If you want, I can carry you girls using a spell and try my best to make it seem like you three are walking."
"You can do that?!" Suvina asked, and Anton simply nodded.
The three ladies, Suvina, Mauri, and Fran, gathered beside Anton, and he lifted them just a couple of inches from the ground so that if one looked at them, they would appear as if they were walking.
Suvina almost gave it away when she exclaimed loudly enough when she started floating that Captain Leonard looked back at them.
"Sorry, captain. I tripped," Suvina said loudly enough for their captain to hear, and Captain Leonard glared at her briefly and turned his attention back to the front.
During the rest of the morning until they stopped for lunch, Anton and the three ladies of the squad were not walking but floating within the squad. This caused the other members in the squad to complain, but Anton and the ladies just ignored them.
After a brief lunch, during which everyone ate some meat jerky and drank water, the march continued.
"I thought you would bring out your cooking things to cook. I didn't expect you to eat meat jerky like the rest of us," Charlie, the druid, told Anton.
"I need to experience what everyone else is experiencing," Anton replied, and the whole group just rolled their eyes at him.
"If you truly wanted to do that, you would have walked just like the rest of us," Kent said while munching hard on his meat jerky.
Anton stopped eating for a few seconds and suddenly told everyone,
"You're right. After lunch, I will be walking like all of you."
"What do you mean you'll be walking? What were you doing then?" Captain Leonard.
"It means nothing, captain. Anton just meant metaphorically, like right now, he is eating meat jerky instead of preparing a sumptuous meal, just like what he did when we're inside the dungeon," Suvina smiled at the captain.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
After lunch, the journey to the kingdom of Mendoza continued, but this time, everyone was walking. The three girls, Suvina, Mauri, and Fran, kept glaring at Kent, blaming the man for suggesting that Anton experience the life of an ordinary adventurer. Now, instead of floating, they were all walking.
A couple of hours passed by, and everyone kept complaining about the journey beneath their breath, and if one was being honest, not only their squad, but every squad, for that matter, was doing the same thing.
What made everyone sigh in despair was that Captain Leonard told them that based on the Special Forces army's speed, it would take them seven days to reach the outskirts of the kingdom of Mendoza.
When night arrived, every squad halted and prepared to rest. Tents were put up, and several large tents were set up to be the special forces headquarters, where some of the squad captains would meet up. When the Captain first tried to assign Anton as his vice, which meant that Anton would have to join Captain Leonard in every meeting, he declined, restating that he didn't want to become an officer, so the vice-captain role was given to Charlie.
So when Captain Leonard left to join the meeting, Anton quickly retrieved his tiny house from his inventory.
"What is that?!" Fran exclaimed.
"It's my tiny house. It has a bed, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a toilet," Anton answered.
At least Anton's tiny house wasn't too noticeable, given that it wasn't much bigger than an ordinary tent.
"Can I check the inside?" Suvina asked, and when Anton said that she could, the three girls hurriedly entered the tiny house to see what was inside.
Everyone could hear the three ladies exclaiming over the things that they could see, which made Anton wonder, since most of the things inside his tiny house were just regular things. After a couple of minutes, the ladies exited the tiny house and asked Anton a question.
"Where are you going to get water to fill up your bathtub?" Mauri asked.
"I have a spell that lets me conjure water and another spell to heat it," Anton answered.
"Anton, we're squad mates, right? Can we use your bathtub to take a bath?" Suvina asked, trying to sound sweet, which only made everyone laugh.
"Sure. Let me take a bath first, then I'll replace the water with new one, and you ladies can take a bath. You can use the toilet as well and then use the bathwater to flush it down. There's a tiny tank under the toilet where the dirty things go, and then I can use magic to get rid of those things."
After Anton took a bath, the ladies went next with him, replacing the water each time one of them did. The men declined to bathe, which made the ladies sniff, saying that men were just too dirty.
Anton did offer to clean his squad members using a cleaning spell, and everyone happily accepted.
"Why take a bath when you can just cast a spell to clean yourself?" Eman asked.
"You don't understand, you dirty boy. Cleaning spells and an actual bath are extremely different!" Suvina said.
Anton actually agreed with the ladies when it came to comparing a bath to the cleaning spell, but he just kept quiet. At least the men were satisfied with the cleaning spell.
"I must ask, is your bathtub magical? My skin feels so smooth, and my hair feels luxurious," Mauri asked while feeling her skin and hair.
Anton did not want to share the intricacies of his mana water, so he just shrugged and said that maybe it was just the feel of a good bath after a long day of walking. After that, everyone started eating their dinner. The problem was, Anton's squad members looked at him hopefully, but when he took out the same food as what everyone had, they just sighed and started eating.
He then understood that they were hoping that he would start cooking for everyone, but there was simply no time to do that. Even though he had an extremely huge amount of delicious, cooked food stored in his inventory, he did not want to spoil his team.
When Captain Leonard returned, he was surprised to see Anton's tiny house. He knocked on Anton's door and checked the inside for a moment, then gave a tacit approval for Anton's use of his tiny house. Given that Anton was a powerful combat archmage, it was expected that some leeway would be given to him.
Everyone's sleeping bag was arranged near Anton's tiny house so that they could still share Anton's Pearl of the Ocean magic item effect. After four hours of sleep, everyone woke up feeling like they had slept for 12 hours.
