Chapter 210: The Rescue Mission Part 2: Speed Of Light
The dust finally settled, revealing the damage across Katherine's body.
She was bleeding from every slashed line, even after using the Seventh Gate and boosting her strength a hundredfold at the last moment.
Selene was already on the level of a Sword Asura, and this technique she created herself placed her above most others.
Katherine breathed heavily. If she had not raised her defenses that high, the attack may have been far more than just cuts.
But she noticed something.
The technique had not been as powerful as it should have been. Katherine knew exactly how strong Selene's creation was, and this had been weaker.
Selene growled in frustration. "This was her strongest technique, so why aren't you dying, you stupid human!"
A grin pulled at Katherine's lips. "My sister's strongest technique would have done more damage. But this one? This is weak."
Selene's face twisted with anger and she moved to swing her blade again, but it was already too late.
Katherine vanished from sight in a blur of speed even Selene couldn't follow.
That was the effect of opening the Seventh Limiter Gate.
Gates one through six freed the body from its natural restraints and pushed it to peak condition.
The seventh however, went beyond that and forced the body above its peak condition.
Of course it was dangerous using any gate above the sixth, and the seventh itself cause serious strain on the body right after its usage.
Katherine reappeared at Selene's side, and as Selene turned, Katherine struck the side of her neck with a precise swipe, knocking her unconscious instantly.
Selene's body tipped forward, but Katherine caught her before she hit the ground.
"I've got you," she whispered as she held her sister close.
——
High above the castle grounds Kayden's body crackled with white lightning as he clashed with Elian mid-air.
Arianna hovered nearby with her hands stretched towards Elian as she prepared to cast another mass magic spell.
Their battle had already been in progress.
Elian with a grin on his face, scribbled his paintbrush through the air, panting a diagram almost instantaneously, which extended out into a massive painted serpentine like dragon that it lunged toward Kayden with jaws wide open.
Arianna moved her palm towards it, and whispered, "shrink" which instantly shrunk the painting down from almost colossal to the size of a flying ant.
Elian's grin disappeared and he looked really mad. This was the third time she was doing this and it didn't matter that this time, the size of his attack had become more.
Well, there was a clear difference now. Arianna's magic due to the Dragon's bond with Aiden was at SSS Rank Strength, which placed her far above S Rank Magic wielders.
Kayden immediately took the quick opportunity. He appeared beside Elian in a flash of lightning and drove his knee into his ribs. The impact sent Elian spinning sideways through the air before he stabilized himself again.
Elian growled outwards in frustration. He moved to make another painting but Arianna focused her mass magic on Elian directly.
His body suddenly became heavier given that she had just increased his weight considerably.
Elian's flight faltered and afterwards, he was forced to drop down several meters, right now. He was going to crash onto the ground with his back
Kayden followed up in the sequence immediately and dived after him, with lightning ripping through the air.
He caught up to Elian mid-fall and delivered a brutal drop kick that drove him straight into the earth.
The impact detonated into a massive crater, cracks spiderwebbing outward as dust blasted into the air.
This was a rather merciless beat down.
Kayden landed a few meters away while Arianna descended slowly beside him.
Elian grunted in pain as he lay center of the crater for a moment. Blood dripped from his nose and mouth and his breathing was labored.
"The cuffs, Kayden," Arianna called, reminding him. In the next instant, Kayden appeared before Elian and snapped the cuffs onto his wrists in one swift motion.
Kayden frowned slightly as he watched. "Something's off," he said to Arianna. Sounding almost unsatisfied.
This was not the same mage he had fought during the Grand Guild Games
Arianna nodded. "That was easier than I expected," she replied.

Meanwhile, while things were going smoothly for the Ravens Grave members, the situation in the dimension Thamoryn led was the exact opposite.
She was facing Talen and Ambrose at the same time, and unlike the other groups who fought mages holding back or moving without full awareness, these two were nothing like that. They were the extreme version.
They fought with full intent and moved like mages who remembered exactly who they were, and how to use their magic more properly.
If Oberon's lightning magic allowed him move as massively hypersonic speeds, Thamoryn's light magic pushed her far past that.
She moved in instantaneous at the speed of light, and with Mystic Field skill active, she reached levels even faster, shifting from point to point so fast it looked like she was moving before the previous step even finished.
But Talen had Mystic Field active too, and even though he hadn't hit her once, his distortion field twisted everything she did.
It bent angles, delayed trajectories and warped senses of timing. No matter how perfectly she moved, her strikes never connected.
What made the fight even harder was her refusal to kill them. Every spell strong enough to land a clean hit would kill instantly, so she held back.
That restraint slowed her just enough for the two to keep pressure on her.
For minutes, all she could do was evade. She flickered across the battlefield like scattered points of light, appearing and vanishing in rapid bursts, never remaining in one spot long enough for either man to corner her.
Ambrose grew visibly frustrated. There was nothing he could feasibly do with his theft magic against someone who moved impossibly fast.
"So she wants to keep running," he said, with irritation in his voice. "Fine. Let me see how the others she brought with her will handle things."
