My Coldhearted Husband’s Regret

Chapter 52 - Tech Innovation Unveiled

When Veronica, Dario, and their companions finally passed through the security checkpoint and stepped into the exhibition hall, the space was already buzzing with activity.

The venue stretched endlessly before them, filled with cutting-edge displays of drones, autonomous flying vehicles, and sophisticated humanoid robots. Each exhibit represented years of technological breakthrough, their sleek designs and blinking lights creating a mesmerizing spectacle that immediately captured the attention of everyone who entered.

Veronica found herself momentarily overwhelmed by the sheer scale of innovation surrounding them. Every corner seemed to house another revolutionary piece of technology, each more impressive than the last.

It didn't take long for people to recognize Dario. Within minutes of their arrival, a steady stream of industry professionals began approaching their group, eager to exchange pleasantries and discuss business opportunities.

Dario handled each interaction with practiced ease, making sure to introduce Veronica to his various contacts throughout the conversations. She smiled politely as she shook hands with executives and engineers, trying to absorb as much information as possible from each brief encounter.

During one such introduction, while maintaining her professional smile and engaging in small talk with a prominent venture capitalist, Veronica happened to be positioned facing the main entrance. Her eyes wandered across the crowd, taking in the impressive gathering of tech industry leaders.

That's when she saw them.

Niall had just walked through the entrance doors, flanked by her usual entourage. Their eyes met across the crowded hall, and for a moment, time seemed to pause.

Niall stopped mid-stride, clearly caught off guard. She hadn't anticipated running into Veronica at such an exclusive event.

After all, this exhibition represented the pinnacle of tech industry networking. Each invitation was treated like gold, distributed only to the most influential figures in the field. The guest list read like a who's who of Silicon Valley and beyond.

Niall's mind raced as she processed the situation. Dario held significant shares in DataPulse, so his presence here made perfect sense. It was one thing for him to hire Veronica, a recent graduate with no real experience, into his company. The other employees might whisper behind closed doors, but they wouldn't dare voice their objections openly.

But this was different. For him to waste such a valuable invitation on someone like Veronica, a newcomer who had barely proven herself, surely even his most loyal employees would question his judgment.

Niall knew Dario's background well. He had studied under the legendary Malcolm, and despite splitting his focus between business operations and technical development, his expertise in artificial intelligence remained razor-sharp.

He had personally guided the development of every major product his company released. His technical skills were undeniable, and his business acumen had turned DataPulse into a formidable player in the industry.

She remembered how Mitchell used to speak of him with genuine admiration, calling him a visionary leader who perfectly balanced innovation with commercial success.

Niall had already begun questioning Dario's supposed brilliance when he refused to consider her application simply because of her history with Veronica. That decision had seemed petty and unprofessional.

But now, seeing him escort Veronica to such an important industry event, her doubts about his judgment deepened considerably.

Her expression grew stern as these thoughts swirled through her mind, a deep frown creasing her features.

Isaac and Huxley had also spotted Veronica among the crowd. Both men wore matching expressions of surprise and displeasure. They clearly hadn't expected to encounter her at such a high-profile gathering.

Veronica acknowledged their presence with a brief glance before deliberately turning her attention back to her conversation, dismissing them without a second thought.

Isaac couldn't help but notice how comfortable Veronica appeared alongside the tall, distinguished man beside her. Their body language suggested familiarity and mutual respect, which only deepened his confusion.

He leaned closer to Niall, lowering his voice. "That man she's with, do you recognize him?"

"That's Dario," Niall replied curtly.

Isaac's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Dario? The Dario?"

He had been aware that Veronica left her position at Dennis Group to join DataPulse, but he had assumed she occupied some insignificant role within the company hierarchy.

The idea that Dario himself would take such a personal interest in her career development was completely unexpected.

Before Niall could elaborate on the situation, they were interrupted by an approaching figure.

"Ms. Crystal, Mr. Crystal, what a pleasant surprise to see you here," the newcomer said with obvious enthusiasm.

"Mr. Caspian," both Niall and Isaac responded, turning to acknowledge Raymond Caspian's greeting.

Originally, their group had secured only two tickets to the exclusive event. However, the previous evening's dramatic events at the charity gala had significantly elevated Niall's social standing. News of her apparent connection to Cullen had spread quickly through their elite social circles.

Raymond Caspian, like many others, was eager to strengthen his relationship with anyone who might provide access to Cullen's influential network. Upon learning that Niall's group needed an additional ticket, he had arranged for one to be delivered to them that very morning.

The charity gala had indeed changed everything for Niall. Word of her special relationship with Cullen had spread like wildfire through the upper echelons of society.

Raymond had barely finished exchanging pleasantries with Niall when others began gravitating toward their group. One by one, prominent figures from various industries approached them, each hoping to curry favor with someone who apparently held Cullen's attention.

Before long, a considerable crowd had formed around Niall and her companions, their animated conversations drawing curious glances from other attendees throughout the hall.

Meanwhile, West Grant, who had been engaged in casual conversation with Veronica and Dario's group, noticed the commotion and gestured toward the growing assembly.

"Look at that spectacle over there," he remarked with barely concealed contempt. "That's the Crystal family holding court. I'm sure you've all heard the gossip by now."

He paused dramatically before continuing. "Apparently, Ms. Crystal has managed to catch Cullen's eye. Just look at how everyone's scrambling to get close to them now."

His voice carried a distinct note of disdain as he observed the social maneuvering taking place across the hall.

Dario nodded thoughtfully. He was well aware of the previous night's events at the charity gala and understood exactly what West was referring to.
