Chapter 238 - Healing Visitor Dynamics
After Sabrina departed, Veronica made her way upstairs, powered up her computer, and immersed herself in work.
Nearly an hour passed before Leon sent over documents requiring her review.
Veronica opened the files and scanned through them methodically. Immediately, her attention was drawn to three newly added properties, their locations precisely marked on the maps provided.
She paused, studying the details more carefully.
All three properties were vacant units situated within the Murray family's residential neighborhood, positioned remarkably close to the Murray residence.
Truth be told, even though Cullen had previously arranged for her to purchase the house directly facing the Murray residence, that single measure hadn't completely alleviated her worries.
Mary enjoyed her daily walks around the neighborhood. Even with the Mack family no longer living directly opposite them, sharing the same community meant encounters were inevitable.
This possibility had constantly troubled Veronica. But now...
Examining this new agreement, she couldn't help but wonder—was Cullen deliberately addressing her unspoken concerns?
While he might simply be expressing gratitude and preventing her from overthinking the situation, these three properties seemed almost perfectly aligned with her needs.
As for any deeper implications, she refused to dwell on them. Instead, she moved to the next document.
It outlined Cullen's intent to transfer two billion dollars to her account as operating capital.
Despite having witnessed his wealth firsthand—at the auction and when he purchased homes for the Crystal family—seeing him casually move billions still caught her off guard.
After confirming everything was in order, Veronica contacted Leon.
Shortly after signing the agreement, the funds appeared in her account.
Regarding the properties, Cullen's attorney informed her that ownership transfers were still being processed, and within days, the property deeds would be delivered to her personally.
By the time everything was finalized, morning had already slipped away.
Cook had recently undergone surgery, and Mary worried about her friend feeling isolated. She decided an afternoon hospital visit was in order.
Veronica volunteered to accompany her.
Starting Monday, work would consume her completely, likely preventing any hospital visits for the foreseeable future.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Veronica immediately spotted Niall.
She'd previously dismissed any concerns about Niall and Cullen's relationship. The last time she'd seen Niall standing outside the car waiting, she hadn't given it much consideration.
Today, however, despite the biting cold and gusty winds, Niall again stood outside, clearly positioning herself deliberately for Veronica to notice.
The message was unmistakable—she and Cullen remained perfectly fine together. Whatever Veronica did, she would never come between them.
Veronica offered a small smile but...
She glanced worriedly at Mary, unsure how she might react to Niall's presence.
Fortunately, Mary had lowered her head and hadn't noticed the woman.
Veronica kept quiet, linking arms with Mary as they walked toward the hospital entrance.
If Niall was waiting downstairs, Cullen must be inside.
Indeed, when Veronica and Mary entered Cook's room, Cullen was there.
He acknowledged their arrival with a greeting. Veronica maintained a carefully neutral expression.
Cook, however, brightened considerably upon seeing them. She grasped Mary's hand warmly and said, "I've troubled my dear old friend to visit me again."
"We've been friends for so many years—why say such things?"
Veronica and Mary settled into chairs beside the bed. Both women noticed Cook appeared significantly improved today, with healthier color in her cheeks and a more animated demeanor than before.
Seeing this transformation, they finally felt a weight lift from their shoulders.
