Chapter 96: ...
"could the captain be dead?" Soren voice out. Together with his team, he had been searching all over for Lucian but he couldn't find him.
Luna lower her head, she didn't want to believe it. But there have been no signs of Lucian, Reed was the last one to see him but when Reed woke up there was nothing. Reed didn't know how he had survived because he was badly wounded. Luna had a little hope that the same person who had kept Reed alive, possibly another player who was a healer had help Lucian to also stay alive.
"The captain is alive I can feel it." Marta said in a strong voice even though in reality the only thing she could feel was her heart breaking with fear because the Ghuoit creatures wasn't attacking them anymore, and they were after Lucian, if they are suddenly gone, does that mean that they succeeded in killing Lucian?
No way? Marta thought in denial. She had risk so much to keep Lucian alive, he wasn't allowed to die. He was the only good thing she had in Hlasked.
"We been searching for Lucian all day, let's take a break." Reed lazily falls to the ground. "We will continue with the search tomorrow." Like Marta he wanted to believe that Lucian was alive, but he felt Lucian was dead. The Ghuoit that had brutally beaten him up without mercy was too strong for someone like Lucian to fight and win, even with his beast ability. However, Reed was bidding his time, waiting for the others to accept the reality of lucian death when they are tired of their search. He knows how painful it is to lose someone close, a friend, a brother, a comrade. Lucian different meaning to each of them, and he's not going to discourage them with words that Lucian is dead.
'why are they searching for me?' Lucian thought, as he spied on his teammates for a far distance.
"They had been searching for you for days, but they weren't there with you when you almost got killed. I'm sure the reason why you are being hunted is because of them." Darion voice whispered in Lucian ear.
Lucian wasn't sure about what Darion wanted for him, but each words Darion whispers to him was full of hatred, suggestion of death and betray and even though he had managed to get Darion to leave him alone. Darion didn't completely left like Lucian thought, Darion left a strange dark tattoo at the back of Lucian ear where he whispered evil words into Lucian ear. When Lucian started searching for his teammates again, Darion showed him the way.
'shut up!' Lucian replied. Whatever dark magic, Darion had use on Lucian had the ability to penetrate his mind and read his thoughts.
"I only want what's best for you, Lucian. You can't trust anyone in this world, but me. You can't return to them."
"What makes you think I planned on returning to them?" Lucian ask harshly. He agree with Darion words that he couldn't trust anyone, but that doesn't mean that Darion himself was to be trusted, he was the least Lucian trusted. "I don't want any one of them poking their nose into my affairs, I'm sick of watching them trying to always sacrifice their life for me! Their pain, and death, is none of business, I don't want to care for any of them, not anymore." His last words where filled with affection, he care about his teammates, but after what happened with the Ghuoit, Lucian had decided that it was time to work alone, his teammates had barely survived, and they were all close to death because of him, if only he wasn't the one acting as their captain.
Darion gave out an evil chuckle that vibrated in Lucian head.
"It's time to put an end to this game, only then can I meet up with those damn gods." Lucian voice was filled with rage, the hatred in his heart was like an undying flame that kept growing hotter and hotter the more in stay in Hlasked.
"Lead me to Thorin."
Darion's led Lucian to Thorin camp, it was different from the cave Tara had caught Lucian in, which means that Tara must have been found a way to lure Thorin away from his location. A good favor Lucian didn't need at this moment of his life.
"Kill him." Darion whispers as Lucian grip one of Thorin's teammate, strangling the breath out of him. "If you want my help, prove yourself to me and kill him."
"Shut the f*ck up!" Lucian knock his opponent out. "I didn't ask for you to attach yourself to me and I didn't ask for your help, I don't need you or anyone fighting my f*cking battles for me."
Darion voice went silent, but Lucian could still feel his presence knew that he was still there. Following him, as though he has mixed his consciousness with Lucian.
Lucian successfully took down all of Thorin's men, the only ones remaining where Flint and his men. Although, Flint and his men were in Thorin camp, they separated themselves from others. Not knowing if they stand with Thorin or not was an issue for Lucian, he wanted a final fight with Thorin, and he didn't need anyone to get in his way.
"Lucian." Flint called out in a sure tone without looking back to see who had sneak into his tent that had mostly been built with earth magic he was the only one in. "when I overheard Arvan telling Thorin about the human blood he found in the cave and Tara was being silent about it, I had a feeling that you were the one she met with there. Tara may be kind, but she's not the type to cover for a random player she doesn't know." Flint turn away from the fire he was tending to, inorder to cook and turned to Lucian. "What are you doing here?" He examine the cold look in Lucian eyes and took note of the blood that stained his hand, not his blood. It was obvious that Lucian didn't come for a friendly visit.
"You attack Thorin teammates?" Flint took a wild guess, and from the lack of reply he was getting, he had a feeling that his guess was right.
Flint shakes his head, Lucian wasn't relaxed and was still guarded, "are you here to attack me?" He asked calmly, knowing fully well that his answer was in-between, if Lucian wanted to take him out like the others, then his men would be first, and then he would be the last target. Flint had a score to settle with Lucian, base on the Lucian last lie that had helped them escape the dungeon, but had risk Flint life with the dungeon king.
"Wether I killed you or not depends on your answer." Lucian said coldly. The dead look on his face shows how serious he was with his death threats.
'Lucian is different.' Flint noted, wondering what happened to Lucian recently, he glanced around and focused feeling any active magic abilities outside, the only abilities he could feel was the ones he was use to, his teammates.
Flint frown, wondering if Lucian teammates didn't come with him, was Lucian attempting to fight against everyone alone? The thought only was reckless, Lucian had lost his mind.
"Where are your teammates?" Flint ask.
"I don't need them. All they ever do is hold me back and slow me down with their pathetic show of affection."
Darion smiled to himself, the words he had wired in Lucian brain, naturally poured out of him, Lucian needed to stop fighting against him and accept him.
"I don't need anyone but myself."
"You seem different." Flint felt alert now. The Lucian before him wasn't the Lucian he knows. The Lucian he knows was a selfish bastard, but something felt wrong and more darker about Lucian. "What happened to you?"
Lucian tilted his head to the side. "That's none of your business. The only reason I going to watch my time asking you this question is because of Tara. Are you with Thorin and his team?"
"What do you mean?" Flint raise a brow at Lucian.
"Are you going to stop me from killing Thorin." Lucian blurted out.
Flint pause, he had thought of this day, what he would do when Lucian or Thorin decided to attack and fight each other to the death. Who will he support on that day. After spending some months with Thorin, he didn't think Thorin was a bad person even though his teammates were trash. And Lucian, although was cold and selfish actually had a heart that care about others.
Flint sigh, if he decides to fight against Lucian then he would be supporting Thorin, and his teammates might not feel the same way, most of his teammates like Lucian, and Flint didn't want to be ungrateful to Thorin for saving his life. "If only there is a way to stop you two from fighting against each other." He muttered out.
"There is no way, it's my blood of his." Lucian said.
"Do whatever you want Lucian, leave me and my teammates out of it. Let this hellish game finally come to an head."
Lucian silently stare at Flint, and without a word, he turned around and walked away. This time he didn't sneak around but openly walked out through the entrance of Flint tent, making those who were close outside the tent surprise to see him.
"Did he always had a strange tattoo at the back of his ear?" Flint ask himself and frown in thoughts.
