In the luxurious mansion of Dihor Garden, Rong Yan sat up on the sofa, then lay back down, and kept repeating this over and over again. Her phone remained silent, quiet as a chicken!

“Could it be, he really doesn’t plan to bother with me anymore?”

Rong Yan felt something was off, but couldn’t explain what; she just felt uncomfortable. She sat up again, staring at her phone for a few minutes. She almost memorized every detail of the phone, but still, there was no response.

Unable to hold back any longer, she stood up and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows. She hesitated before dialing Gu Ming’s number.

“Beep beep…”

She wanted to ask Gu Ming if that man was still busy.

Perhaps he was still at the office.

After seven or eight rings, the familiar automated female voice she had heard all night answered, “I’m sorry, the user you are trying to reach is not available right now. Please try again later.”

When she heard a “click” at the door; the sound of the door opening. Her eyes brightened, and not bothering to change shoes anymore, she opened the door.

There, as expected, was the man she had been waiting for all night.

The distinguished man appeared not to have expected her to open the door so promptly. His hand was still raised mid-air and, upon seeing Rong Yan, his sharp eyes contracted slightly as he lowered his hand.

Rong Yan had all but given up hope and was about to leave to find him. Relieved that he had returned, she buzzed around him, asking, “Have you eaten? You probably didn’t see my messages, right? No worries, sit in the living room for a bit. I’ll start cooking right away; it’ll be done in no time.” She had messaged him to let her know in advance if he’d be coming back, so she could add fish slices to the porridge for him. Since he had returned, he must not have seen the message.

Li Shengxiao looked at the small woman by his side, her eyes warm and smiling cheerfully, which made his stern features tense up. He walked through the door, saying, “Don’t bother with me.”

Rong Yan paused, blinking uncertainly, “Have you had dinner?”

From the moment he entered, she could smell alcohol on him. It was strong, but somehow not unpleasant on him. Mixed with his own scent of mint, it was faint, even making the alcohol carry the light fragrance of cologne.
