Chapter 61: Chapter 61: The Assassin Deck
"You jerk, I'm not talking to you anymore!"
Wang Ke'ai stomped away on her short legs, puffing with anger, determined to leave him behind.
Luo Sheng was already used to this. After all, every time she said she wouldn't speak to him, she'd come running back a few days later.
She really was adorable.
Clearing his throat, Luo Sheng followed behind her. "Actually, I wasn't entirely lying. Look, for you, I've finally upgraded the Ice Snow Queen to max-star bronze."
He casually flicked out a card and waved it.
Wang Ke'ai turned back at this, her anger significantly diminished upon seeing the max-star [Ice Snow Queen], replaced mostly by a coquettish pout.
"Hmph! Fine, I'll forgive you this time."
She snatched the card back and walked silently next to Luo Sheng.
Her rosy, plump lips pouted, soft cheeks like white jade, and those two small, cute tiger teeth were quite a sight. Especially her petite, delicate frame, which evoked a strong protective instinct—a desire to keep her safe and cherished.
Wang Loli forever!
Of course, Luo Sheng had no time to appreciate the beauty of a loli right now. He was busy collecting cards like he was at a marketplace.
Meanwhile, the surrounding card masters looked on, green with envy.
"Damn it! How could Wang Ke'ai be with him? It's so unfair!"
"I want to team up with her too! I'm so mad—my loli is gone!"
"I heard Mentor Su assigned them to a team."
"Why?"
"Because the Gate Master is one of the academy's priority protégés. Word is, he even killed a member of the Card Collector Organization last night."
"Gasp…!"
"That can't be true, right?"
The onlookers were stunned.
To take down a member of an evil organization was no small feat. These organizations weren't ones to be trifled with. Even the guards had suffered losses when fighting them in the past.
Thus, defeating an evil card master was an extraordinary accomplishment, showing that Luo Sheng's strength was not to be underestimated.
Suddenly, a figure with dark, hollow eyes approached slowly.
It was Xu Shen, once the academy's most dazzling talent, now a shadow of his former self—listless and on the verge of madness. The others instinctively stepped aside, keeping their distance.
Meanwhile, Luo Sheng and Wang Ke'ai hadn't walked far before a shout came from above.
"Evil spirit!"
On the rooftop was a massive black skull gripping a scythe, leering down at the panicked card masters with a chilling grin.
A crescent slash, radiating red ripples, descended rapidly. With a deafening crash, it stirred up a cloud of dust and debris.
Fortunately, the card masters dodged instinctively, avoiding casualties.
The spirit wasn't particularly powerful—just a leftover from a cleanup operation.
Out of nowhere, Xu Yourong appeared atop a high tower, like a phantom of the night. She held several glowing cards, which transformed one by one into physical entities.
[Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear]
This card's glow faded, and two large devices appeared strapped to her thighs. Xu Yourong expertly operated the gear, launching two iron hooks that latched onto buildings near the black skull.
The maneuver gear reeled her in with immense force, propelling her toward the building at high speed. Her skirt billowed, revealing flesh-colored tights and safety shorts that left nothing improper to be seen.
During her swift approach, she activated more cards in succession.
[Black Gold Piercing Sword]
A jet-black, hard-edged longsword appeared in her hand.
[Shadow Assassin - Blackbird]
A blind figure in black, wielding a poisonous whip, materialized. Black wings unfurled from his back as he sped toward the enemy.
[Soul Lock Nail]
A pitch-black spike shot out from her hand at blinding speed, nailing the scythe-wielding skull in place.
Blackbird's whip quickly ensnared the skull, poison seeping into it. Though the enemy was all bone, the sound of sizzling and rotting flesh filled the air as mist rose.
The bones began to corrode.
Finally, Xu Yourong reached the immobilized skull and drove her black gold sword into it. The skull dissolved into a card, which she caught in her hand.
All of this happened in under six seconds, stunning the surrounding card masters.
Beside Luo Sheng, Wang Ke'ai provided commentary. "It seems she specializes in assassins. I heard she awakened as an Analyst Card Master."
Luo Sheng nodded thoughtfully. Based on Wang Ke'ai's explanation, Xu Yourong likely awakened as an Analyst before choosing an assassin deck.
Assassins prioritize speed and precision, swiftly identifying weaknesses to eliminate opponents. From what Luo Sheng had read in the textbooks, Analysts are similar to Alice's supercomputing ability.
They analyze, deconstruct, and deduce optimal solutions in the shortest time possible, their brains functioning like supercomputers.
Before long, Luo Sheng and Wang Ke'ai entered the Ghost Domain.
The sky darkened, and the surroundings grew pitch-black, an oppressive aura pressing down on them. The first step into this realm was just as unsettling as before.
The Spirit Gem emitted a warning, alerting them to potential danger ahead.
Suddenly, eerie laughter echoed under the streetlights—a boy's giggle and a girl's chuckle, both chillingly strange.
Luo Sheng spotted two ghostly children wearing Qing Dynasty official robes. Strings of Buddhist beads hung around their necks, their faces deathly pale. A yellowed, tattered talisman was stuck to each forehead.
The laughter came from them, equal parts creepy and unnerving.
Luo Sheng remained unfazed. Against such ghostly foes, his ghostly wife would suffice.
He casually summoned Bai Moxue.
When Bai Moxue saw the ghost children baring their teeth at her, she sneered. "I despise disobedient brats the most!"
The battle commenced instantly.
She opened with a silk ribbon attack, attempting to bind the duo. However, the agile ghost children deftly evaded, quickly closing the distance with mischievous grins as if mocking her.
The boy wielded a brick; the girl, a peachwood sword.
Unbothered, Bai Moxue smirked. A golden light flashed. Before the children could react, a clean slash opened their throats. They fell, transforming into a card on the ground.

Bai Moxue picked up the card and murmured to Luo Sheng, "I feel a peculiar connection to this card."
With that, she also turned into a card and fell into Luo Sheng's hand.
Moments later, an influx of information about strengthening flooded Luo Sheng's mind. In a surreal dream-like state, he realized that Bai Moxue could fuse with Golden Boy and Jade Maiden to gain new abilities.
Someday, she might become a matchmaker of the underworld—though a rather eerie one.
